8 Nites Of Practically Perfect Pop!!! NEW PICTURES, PAGE 13!!!

Hi Donna, loving your trip report. I also live in Illinois, south suburbs of Chicago. How long did it take you to drive to Orlando. :moped:

 WOW, I am having a LOT of trouble getting on the DIS today...anyone else? That "server" sure is one busy guy!!!

BURLY..We live in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. The hardest part of any trip heading south is getting *out* of Chicago!!! There's this big ol' lake and not too many easy ways to get around it!!! :)

We left early (I think it was around 6:30ish in the morning) on a Friday and not rushing at all, stopped around the same time in the evening in Dalton, GA (about a 12 hour day). On Saturday, we left Dalton around 7 or so in the morning and got to Disney's World around 4:30 or thereabouts in the afternoon. :)

Still lovin' your trip report. The pics are excellent!! :thanks:

Well, Hello Donna!!

I apologize for coming late to your trip report journey!! But I was hooked from the get go this morning, the more I read, the more I went "hmmm just like me!"

1. We're going to WDW to celebrate our 25th!!
2. We're from a NW suburb of Chicago!!
3. I bought a Disney Dress to go to an evening Anniversary Dinner in Disney!! (lol, but I also bought the matching shirt for dh!! :rotfl2: )
4. I insist on a noise machine!! I bought mine from Target, and its starting to blitz out on me... I may just head over th Sharper image later to check out yours!!

I'm sure there are a few more coincidences (like I always talk to the people around us!!)

We are not driving!! We are staying in Pop, but only one night!! I also extrapulated a WDW promise from dh, more than 25yrs ago tho - since we didnt honeymoon in Disney, "some day"!! Oh, and the Prince from your 1900 dinner is much cuter than the one we had last year!! :rotfl2: (not that he wasnt "charming" mind you!!)

Thanks for taking the time!! I've got my Passporter, its corners are well worn, and parts are highlighted, I'll try and take some morning time to fill in some highlights!! :thumbsup2

Saturday, May 6

Okay, so it's now Saturday. In the note I left our housekeeper with the tip, I wrote "our last FULL day...boo, hoo" and got rewarded with a few more MIckey soaps!!! How cool was that??? :yay:

The plan was to check out of POP on Sunday...but where were we going to go?? Mark really, really, really wanted to go to A BEACH while we were in Florida. As many times as we had gone to Disney World, we had never gone to A BEACH. We all know marriage is about compromise, right?? Right! As much as I would have *loved* to extend our stay at POP (and I actually checked and we actually could have stayed another night if we wanted to, in the same room, even! :) )...I figured I owed it to Mark who had given me eight nights of POP Century  to try and give him at least maybe, oh, two nights of A BEACH. So, on Saturday morning, I called and made reservations for us at a hotel in Daytona Beach, for Sunday and Monday night. So, we were REALLY going to leave Disney on Sunday (I can hear the collective sigh of relief....the trip report will finally end!! :) )

But, we still have all day Saturday and Sunday morning, and darn it, I'm gonna keep that big Disney smile for as *long* as I possibly can!!! :teeth:

We didn't even bother on Saturday to have the Universal Studios discussion. Hello, it's our Last Full Day, and you think we're going to leave Disney?? Ummm...I don't *think* so, Tim!!! :rotfl2:

The weather channel told me that it was going to be another sunny, warm day (I could get used to this, I really, really could! :cool1: ) so we decided we would take a ride over and visit our next door neighbor-- so we headed off to the Caribbean Beach Resort. The plan: we were going to rent a boat and take a ride on the lake over there. The actuality: when we got there, there were a few things that made us decide we would take a pass on the boat rental (waivers they wanted us to sign saying they weren't responsible if we died...little stuff like that). CBR is a nice place to visit, but I LOVED living at POP!!!

After our non-adventure on the high seas, we decided we deserved to go to the Magic Kingdom and just kind of go at an easy pace and soak it all in! :yay:

We thought we might like to try lunch at Tony's Town Square, since we had never been there before, and stopped in to set up an ADR. The cm's that were at the hostess stand couldn't have been more pleasant <Insert big Disney smile>, and they posed and got all delighted when I told them I wanted to take a picture of them! :)

Did you know there is an award-winning( yep, award-winning! :Pinkbounc ) rose garden in the Magic Kingdom? As often as we've been there, we had no clue! And, it's quite beautiful, actually. We took a few thousand pictures of the rose garden before we ventured toward Tomorrow Land and thought about going to Stitch's Great Escape again. NOT...just seeing if anyone was paying attention... :rotfl2:

So, we didn't visit Stitch again...thank goodness!. :rotfl2: ..but we did go on the People Mover ride (I know it has an "official" name, but I will always think of it as the People Mover, okay??) It was cool to see the inside of Space Mountain (as close as I EVER want to be to that roller coaster, thank you very much!!! One time- and *only* one time -- many years ago, I rode on Big Thunder Mountain and the people that were behind me are probably *still* deaf from hearing me scream! )

We then walked over to the Carousel of Progress, which I thought was closed (?) :confused3 permanently, only to realize that it was, indeed, open. The theater itself is looking quite run-down, unfortunately, so it probably *will* be closing soon. I still think the show itself is pretty good, highlighting how technology changes over the course of time, as seen thru the eyes of the family in each scene. I also love how the theater revolves to each new scene. :yay: I kind of hope they just renovate the theater instead of closing this one, but since it was another walk-on, I don't think it's going to last very long.

Humming "there's a great big beautiful tomorrow" , we headed back toward Main Street and Tony's Town Square. This is a cute restaurant, based on the movie "Lady and the Tramp". We got seated fairly quickly and ordered...what else...but spaghetti?? :yay: Now I love the scene in the movie where the two little doggies twirl that spaghetti and share it with one another, so I asked Mark if we should try to "recreate" that scene! <Insert big Disney smile> :teeth: So he asked our cm server if he would take a picture for us, but instead of how cute it was in the movie, Mark did this thing where he actually was like *feeding* me spaghetti. :rotfl2: ..so we looked more like we were recreating a scene from the movie about the plant that kept eating people! <Insert big Disney blush!>

In spite of looking like fools (what else is new??) :rotfl2: , we truly enjoyed lunch at Tony's and would go back in a heartbeat. We ate inside the actual restaurant, but noticed they also have a glass-enclosed porch area, too, which looked very pleasant, too. :)

After lunch, we wandered back in to the "camera center", which is right next door to Tony's. A Disney cartoon was playing on the movie screen in there, and there were cardboard displays of Disney characters to take pictures with....nothing super exciting, but kind of fun to see... :goodvibes

We walked down Main Street back towards Fantasy Land, and then decided to go to Mickey's Toontown Square to see our photo-pass pictures. It wasn't enough for us that Mark was taking pictures and I was taking pictures, oh no!, we also had the Disney people taking pictures for us all week!!! :Pinkbounc (The first time the Disney people take a picture for you, they give you a cardboard photo-pass card, and you give it to them every time you want a picture taken, so the pictures are all "linked" on one card. They will also take a picture with *your* camera, which I thought was great! ) So we got in what was probably one of the longest lines we had all week (!) , and waited (well, actually, Mark waited and I went off to buy some cotton candy! :cool1: ) to see our pictures. I'm glad we did, because we found out that the one picture I really, really wanted had somehow gotten lost in photo-pass land (if you see two strange individuals on your photo-pass pictures, ummm...they may just be the two of us! :rotfl2: ), so we redid that one before we left the MK. And, of course, we just *had* to buy one of the photo-pass pictures right then and there since those nice photo-pass people had taken pictures for us all week and the nice photo-pass cm so patiently showed us all the pictures AND spent time looking for the missing pictures...PLUS we NEEDED to get the folder that comes with the photo-pass pictures!! :cool1:

Our photo-pass adventure over, we left Mickey's Toontown and realized we hadn't yet gone to The Enchanted Tiki Room. Mark honestly believes it's a "tradition" :thumbsup2 to do the good ol' Tiki's on each and every trip to Disney World, so we headed in that direction. I gotta tell ya, the waiting line for the Tiki Birds reminded me the world and all of the Polynesian Luau waiting area!!! We went in and laughed with our Tiki friends, and enjoyed cooling off a bit!!! :)

The Magic Kingdom was going to close at 7 (for grad night), so we decided it was time to leave before it was too late and we got caught in the closing crush. But, we had to redo that one photo-pass picture, so we asked the photo-pass person if she would take the "Tinkerbell" picture for us. I am so GLAD we found out that we needed to re-do this one, as it is probably one of my absolute favorite pictures from our trip. Mark and I are "holding" Tinkerbell and the castle is framed behind us in the picture. :) (I sent a copy of this picture to my little niece, Jessica--the one who loves Tinkerbell--and she said to her mother "oh, Tinkerbell is REAL and Aunt Donna and Uncle Mark even got to hold her!!!" :goodvibes The magic of Disney!!!!

And, also, before we left, we....well, actually...I..had to make a few detours in to the various and sundry gift shops along Main Street. I love the displays they have set up, and just enjoyed browsing!!!

Taking our last six-hundred million pictures, we said our final good-byes to the Magic Kingdom for this trip, and headed to the bus stop and back to POP Century!

Up next... the final night of our final full day!!! Stay tuned!!! :)

Many thx to my son, Chris, the computer xpert, for posting the pictures, since I have no clue how to do that!
That is the best picture of POP I have ever seen! WDW should buy it from you! We will be there in Aug/Sep and I cannot imagine my kids not loving it;where else as you say! We can get deluxe anywhere!

Donna,
I'm really enjoying your trip report. My family and I will be visiting the POP in a few weeks. Your Mickey dress was perfect!! I definitely want to see the butterflies in Epcot next time. DD7 will love that!!! Can you tell me about the Precious Moments that is only available at DTD? And was that a Napoleon you were eating in France? It looks scrumptious!!! Thanks so much for sharing with us! :)

Donna, I love your trip report! You make me want to stay at Pop, I think that will have to be our next resort stay!
Thanks for sharing your trip with us! ::MinnieMo

 I have to say thx again for the nice comments on the report!! :)

EEYORE45 Ya know, I really wanted to get Mark the shirt that matched the dress I had! But, of course, the Disney store didn't have the size he needed! We even kind of looked around Downtown Disney for a Luau shirt! We actually saw something that might have worked when we went into one of the gift shops at the Polynesian...ummmm...*after* the Luau!! :teeth: Note to Disney: If you will sell it, we will buy it (well, if we see it before the show we will, anyway! :) )

 Also, a BIG thank you for the comments on the pictures Mark is posting for me!

JACKDIS...Since I am rather culturally deprived, I am just not sure if that was a Napolean I was devouring so greedily in France! If a Napolean is like the best-thing-you-ever-ate-in-your-life kind of flaky pastry with a creamy sort of filling, then yep, that's what it was!!! I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend that everyone try one!!! :Pinkbounc :yay: : :cool1:

We actually bought the Precious Moments figurine in Epcot at the Art of Disney store there. They have several PM pieces available, but the ever-so-sweet cm told us that the one we bought is only available at the Disney parks. It is titled, "Happiness is Best Shared Together" and is a girl and boy wearing their Mickey Mouse hats, and a Mickey Mouse balloon between them, sharing a snack. Awwwww.... *had* to get this one, as a memory of the trip that Mark and I shared together!!! :goodvibes

WOW! I can feel your excitement from here (or maybe it was just all those laghing, smiling dancing bananas throughout your report) :rotfl:

Sounds like a terrific trip - thanks for sharing

By the way - what did you think of Pop? :rotfl:

Donna - you and Mark are such a beautiful couple - love your pics! Hard to believe your vacation is almost over :sad2: We have all loved reading your reports and seeing your pictures!!

Donna,
Thanks for the info. The figurine (and the pastry!!) are must dos for our :) next trip!

Thanks for sharing!! I also have quite a few Precious Moments - will have to look for the one with the ears - thanks for the heads up!!

re matching shirts - last year we went to the party of the senses, and quite a few dresses and matching shirts were there (maybe 5 or 6!) (the same dark blue you had) I was jealous!! lol, so when I went to disneyshopping.com - they have a lighter blue, but it was the only one I could fine - and it was on sell!! for $19, we now own it!! :)

Love the pictures!! So glad you posted!! :goodvibes

 Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

KATHYMC...thx for the great laugh! Could you tell I really didn't care all that much for POP?? :rotfl2:

CINDERELLI5390...gotta get your homework done! (says the mom of a high school teacher) but thx for reading the report :)

HEAVEN2DC..I'm glad you're enjoying the report, thx!

Thank you, again, everyone, for the encouraging comments....
