8 Nites Of Practically Perfect Pop!!! NEW PICTURES, PAGE 13!!!

Okay, so where were we? Oh, yeah...we were leaving the MK and heading back to the practically perfect POP! Again, no long waits for the bus at all! :)

Going back to our practically perfect room  (past the Goofy pop jets, past the Twister game, past the Mickey phone, under the Big Wheel), we talked about what we should plan for our LAST Disney night. Having dinner at the POP Century food court sounded appealing, and then, we thought we would go over to the Disney MGM Studios, because we had not *yet* seen "Fantasmic!", and also wanted to try and see Walt Disney: One Man's Dream.

At the Everything POP food court, Mark ordered the Chinese meal-in-a-box that he seemed to have gotten addicted to ... (now, I really, really, really don't like Chinese food <never mind that he took me to a Chinese restaurant on our first date, and I still married him :teeth: >, so he gets it whenever he can--read, on his birthday, so he was quite happy to be able to get Chinese food at Disney World! :cool1: ). The food court has the menus posted above every little "station" and they have these flashing pictures to make you think you can't live without trying certain food items...well, it worked on me since I had been wanting to try one of the "Mom's Night Out" specials that I had seen flashing all week ! I just had to try the chicken dinner since the flash-by made it look so appealing! This came in a little silver foil container, kind of like a t.v. dinner...awww, how cute was that?? :goodvibes Our meal was actually very, very good and as a bonus, quite reasonably priced! (Have I mentioned how much I LOVE POP Century???) :yay:

After enjoying our *last* food court dinner, (I hate when it's the *last* anything on a Disney vacation, don't you?? :sad2: ), we walked over to the bus stop for Disney MGM-Studios and waited for the bus. And waited for the bus. And waited for the bus. And waited for the bus. And waited for the bus. While doing all this waiting for the bus, we saw bus-after-bus *returning* to POP Century from the Magic Kingdom...remember how the MK closed early for grad night?? Apparently, all the buses were busy bringing guests *back* from the (now closed) Magic Kingdom. Okay, so this was *not* good. This was our *last* night at Disney, and our *last* chance to see "Fantasmic!" and we did NOT want to miss it!!!!

We did what any sane, intelligent individuals who had their own car would have done, and decided we would *drive* to Disney MGM!!! What a concept! :) Of course, as we were leaving the resort, what to our eyes should appear but a BUS that had the illuminated panel that said "Studios"! We didn't really care at that point, though, we were already ON OUR WAY!!!! :yay:

Disney MGM Studios is actually quite close to POP Century, so we got to the parking lot pretty quickly :) (maybe even faster than those that were catching the bus that finally showed up at POP as we were leaving!!) We parked and got on one of the cute little Disney trams that take you to the entrance. This was the first time we actually rode on one of the cute little Disney trams, so naturally, we had to take a few pictures of it!!! :goodvibes

We realized that based on timing and stuff, we really didn't have time to go to the Walt Disney thing we wanted to try and see, but instead, we headed right back to the theater where they show "Fantastmic!" We were amazed at how crowded it already was...and this was like over an hour until the show was going to start!! :confused3

We found seats on the *end* of a row (I have a thing about *needing* to be on the *end* in a crowded theater, I don't like to fly, I like to be in control...I *know* I have issues, okay? :guilty: ) After a while, I noticed someone walking by with a frozen lemonade and decided I really, really, really needed to get one. They have concession stands set up behind each section of seats, but I was told that the frozen lemonade is ONLY sold at the one concession stand where you first enter the theater, so I headed back there. YIKES!!!! There were a LOT of people going the OTHER way!!! I nudged my way thru the crowd that was surging in the opposite direction, and finally reached my goal! But, the line was waaaaaayyyyy long, and it was not moving. Not at all. Not even an inch. I decided that the bottled water we had was actually going to taste very, very, very good at this point :teeth: , and joined the crowd and surged my way back to where we were sitting. Or, at least I thought I was back...I actually went down the wrong row, and realized that the person I thought was Mark was someone else (I've only been married to him for 25 years, after all, you can't expect me to *always* recognize him!!! :rotfl2: ) Realizing my mistake, I finally found my way back to the RIGHT row and noticed how everyone was doing a kind of "dance"!!!

FIRST OF ALL...THANK YOU FOR A FANTASMIC TRIP REPORT.......WE ARE GOING TO THE "POP" FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AND I FEEL I WILL KNOW MY WAY AROUND BECAUSE OF YOU,,,THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH  ABOUT YOUR "LAST" DAY BLUES!!! FOR YEARS I TRIED TO WORK AROUND THE "LAST" DAY DEPRESSION BY DOING MANY THINGS.WE GENERALLY STAYED AT PORT ORLEANS, DIXIE LANDINGS.(WHICH I WILL FOREVER CALL IT)........ONE OF THE THINGS I TRIED (PRETTY UNSUCCESSFULLY!!) WAS PRETENDING THE FIRST DAY WAS OUR LAST,,,,,AND WHEN WE WOKE UP THE NEXT DAY AND DIDN'T HAVE TO LEAVE,,,,,WE CELEBRATED.......IT ONLY WORKED FOR A WHILE THOUGH......
THAT WAS WHEN I DECIDED I WAS GOING TO RETIRE TO DIXIE LANDING FOOD COURT ONCE THE BOYS GREW UP..........HMMMMMMMMMM...THEY ARE NOW 24 AND 27,,,,,,,,,,,,WHEN DO I GET TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!???????

Now, this wasn't The Hustle. :confused3 This wasn't The Twist. :confused3 This was the "swat a gnat with a hat" dance!!! :Pinkbounc Apparently, everyone who had a hat with them decided to use it to swat at the gnats that were swarming around the theater (in case anyone is confused, the theater is a HUGE outdoor stadium-type theater!). It was very warm, still, outside, and the gnats must have liked that a whole lot. It just looked beyond funny to me to see all these hats just swatting away at all these little gnats. Hundreds and hundreds of hats being waved back and forth in the air!!! :rotfl2: (Honestly, the gnats didn't really bother me at all, but Mark was swatting away at them, so I guess they disturbed his peace, anyway!!!)

Then, someone tried to get a *real* dance going. They really, really tried to get The Wave going. But, it just wasn't happening. Maybe everyone was still busy doing the swat-dance to participate in the Wave :teeth: , but it just always kind of fizzled out pretty quickly.

Soon, it got dark and it was time for the show to start! :goodvibes We have seen "Fantasmic!" before, but usually our seats have been blocked by a pole or not quite as good as where we were sitting or something, because I have to say, this was the BEST performance of "Fantasmic!" ever!!! :yay: The whole spray/mist/Mickey's dream/fireworks/music/floats....it was just way beyond amazing!!!! And at the end, when the characters all went sailing by ever-so-happily waving at everyone, I felt they were all saying "good-bye" to us, because they knew it was our "last" Disney night!!! :goodvibes This was just so incredibly emotional for me (I know, I'm a Disney nut!), but I just started crying, and just couldn't stop! I am so GLAD we saw this show, and that we saved it for our last night...it was just a practically perfect "grand finale" to our Disney theme park experiences!!! :)

Those same hundreds of people that had headed IN to the theater had to get out, so we waited after the show for the theater to clear out a bit (and for me to regain control a bit! :) ) before we headed out, too. Since we had our car with us, we were in no real hurry to fight traffic to get out of the park, so we just kind of ambled our away toward the Big Hat. We, of course, had to try and take a few nighttime pictures of the Big Hat, and then wandered in and out of a few of the gift shops. We were just kind of wasting time, not wanting to leave the park, knowing it was our goodbye to the Studios, and all that.

But, alas, finally, we did (well, Mark, did, anyway) decide it was past time to leave the park, so we said our final farewells to Disney MGM Studios and headed towards our car, which was one of about three left in the parking lot by that time!!! :) (In fact, one of the parking lot cm's was picking up those orange parking lot cones and having a blast kicking one around...I asked him what the heck the cone had done to him to be treated so poorly?? :rotfl2: )

We drove the short distance back to POP Century, and thought we would get an adult beverage to end the evening. However, we both were more in the mood for desert...(they even have tie-dyed cheesecake at POP! ) So, we got our refillable mugs and Mark enjoyed an ice cream sundae and I had a slice of cheesecake (no, not tie-dyed, it's cool to look at and all, but I just wanted to eat a plain looking piece of cheesecake! ) We just kind of sat and shared each other's company for awhile, not wanting our last Disney night to end!!! :)

But, it did have to end, eventually, and we headed back to our practically perfect room in the practically perfect 70's section to enjoy one last night at Disney World!!

Up next...the final few hours of my Disney smile..check-out day!...stay tuned!!! :)

Sunday May 7

It's hanging outside the door of the room. You know what it is...it's that dreaded envelope you really, really don't want to see...even though it has a cheerful "good morning" and Mickey's face on the envelope, it means it's your check-out day! During our time at Disney, I would see these envelopes hanging on *other* doors and be so happy that it wasn't yet OUR time! :) Alas, today was the day!

Normally, check-out is at 11 a.m., but knowing how I would feel about leaving, and wanting to s-t-r-e-t-c-h out every possible second of the magic, I had called the night before and asked for a late check-out and had gotten a 1 p.m. check-out time.

We had breakfast in the POP food court...and enjoyed the adult breakfast platter and the waffles that had the word POP baked right into them! Sitting at the pool, we soaked up every last ounce of ithe sunshine and the music and the Disney environment. :goodvibes

Of course, then I just had to do a tad more shopping at the POP Century gift shop. (That's probably why they were so willing to give me that late check-out time, cuz they knew I would just spend more $$!! :rotfl2: )

We were able to pack up the car with all the stuff we had brought with us, plus the three thousand extra things we had somehow acquired on the trip.

Mark fired up the video camera and I played annoying lady tour guide and we walked all over POP, taking video pictures of...oh...well...just about everything!!! That was way fun! <insert big Disney smile>

Soon, though, it really was time to go...and we drove down the POP drive towards the exit. When we drove under those "See you Real Soon" arches that meant we had actually LEFT Disney World, I totally lost it....<insert huge we're leavin' Disney tears>

BUT, as sad as I was to be leaving, we were very blessed to have been able to GO to Walt Disney World!! :goodvibes We had a fantastic, wonderful vacation. :Pinkbounc We truly love Disney, and POP Century, and were very happy to have been able to share time together at the Happiest Place on Earth!!! :goodvibes

Thx again for reading this trip report; it's been fun to share our vacation with you all!!! <insert big Disney smile>!!! :goodvibes
