Just officially booked my first visit to the Polynesian!! Had ressies at POR, CR and Poly and after much thought, finally went with the Poly. I'm really excited (now that I've accepted how much $$$ it will cost). Will we really love it? Will we be thrilled? Is it worth buying the mugs or is the refill station to far away to justify it? We are driving so I can bring soda and juice, wanted to hear from the experts. We have 3 kids, 11,8 and 4. Will they love the pool? Thanks!!! :Pinkbounc

I just booked the Poly for the end of June, so I'm looking forward to hearing what people have to say about it. I'm so excited!!! :cheer2:

Don't forget play shovels and pales...the kids will love building castles on the beach. A short walk away is the volcano pool and slide...lots of fun for all & plenty big. Quiet pool is within 3 minutes if the "Big People" need a break.

Wishes Fireworks watching, water parade viewing, 24 hour restaurant eating, late night strolls on manicured grounds, water mice rentals, monorail fun trips, night time boat rides, big coconut drinks, real coffee, character meals, friendly staff....8 nights will fly bye.

You'll have fun.

I agree with enerything just mentioned. The poly is gorgeous! We always go there for at least 1 meal and to watch the EWP and it's something I look forward to just to be there. I stayed there like 10 years ago and I can't wait to do it again!

We stayed 2 nights in June, and I really like it, we has a garden view room in the Niue longhouse. This long house has the smoking rooms.
We were really close to the main building. I only bought 1 of the refillable mugs to share with my daughter. We had just spent 5 nights at the POFQ so I did not think we needed mugs for each of us for just the 2 nights.
The snack bar was not far from most of the long houses, and it certainly would be cost effective to get the mugs. I think that the snack bar was open 24 hours, just no cooked foods afer 11:00 or 12:00 .
My husband and I are staying at the Poly this December for 5 nights and I can not wait!

This will be our first trip to the Poly! In 2003 we stayed at CBR(our first trip) do you notice a theme? We love everything tropical! We dont feel like we are really on vacation unless we see palm trees. (being from the pacific northwest :umbrella: might give you a clue as to why we love the tropics) I sure hope we wont be dissappointed. Have often thought about trying WL but my family feels that it would be just like staying in the olympic national forest so I guess we wont be staying there anytime soon. we'll be there from June 28th(CS) to July 4th. July 4th-July 7th (Poly)cant wait to watch the fireworks from the beach!!!!!!!! mimimom :hourglass will this ever get empty

well just to let you know im 11 ( almost 12 ) and the polinesian is the best!! and im also 1 of 3. i have 2 sisters. one is 13, one is 11 ( thats me ) and one is 4. it is worth the money but it is better if you spent it on the conceairge too. me and my big sister just hung at the conceairge,to relax for when we come back from one of the parks. it is worth the money! we got free food there too. my sister got hooked on the hot chocolate. if you want my honest opinion i thought the pool was cool. but the pool is so crowded! we barley went in the pool. when you arrive at the hotel, one of the peoples takes you, your stuff, and your family on the little cart ( sorta like a golf cart ) and drives you to your hotel room. its fun. well i hope you have fun @ the poly! :teeth:

Thank you very much for your review Jasmine! It sounds like you had a great time and I' :wave2: m sure we will too.

Could you please provide more info on these & how it relates to the Poly, we are going to be there the end of April. :cloud9:

I would just like to add as a new fan of the poly that you HAVE to go to Ohana's. When they found out it was our tenth anniversary that sat us right at the windows where we had a perfect view of wishes. I loved how they lowered the lights and piped in the music. I can't wait to take my kids there for the coconut races and the hula hooping. Every child there seemed to love the place (and that includes this 35 yr old princess and her 37 yr old prince charming).

Yeah....I am so happy!!! It will be our first time too and we are doing 7 nights. I even built one day of our stay to do nothing but hang at the hotel. I figured we are spending a good penny, lets take the time to enjoy it!! I did not request a specific room, just ground floor, by the volcano pool and non smoking. I figured let fate put us where we belong (as long as it is not parking lot view :rotfl2: )

When we get back I will let you know how it went. We are driving and bringing our own "stuff" (snacks and such). We also plan on getting mugs anyway. doesn't it always seem even if you bring stuff the kids always find the one thing you did not bring and they HAVE to have it! :rotfl:

WERE READY >>>>WERE READY>>>WERE READY>>>

All of you have picked the best...you will love it. TheIncredibles summed up many of the delights of the Polynesian. And the transportation is the best. Don't forget to ride the launch to or from MK...or just to enjoy the lights at night. :boat:

I believe the poster was referring to the fact that you can watch the Wishes fireworks and the Electric Parade (boats that float by lit up like dragons and things with music playing) from the Poly's beach, that you can get food 24 hours a day from the food court (except cooked food after 11pm, good for late night coffee and soda refills), that the monorail leaves from the front door to take you to and from the MK and TTC, that you can rent miceboats from the Poly's marina (my 2 ds love to ride these things) and the Ohana's, a great restaurant is in the Poly.
I haven't stayed yet, but I'm learning as much as I can about the place :flower:

Thank you rileyroosmom I guess I have more planning to do. :flower:

Yes, that was what I was speaking about.

Might consider looking into a Luau also. Richard Petty Driving Experience & the Disney Golf Resort are within eye sight too. Because your're on the monorails, don't forget activities the Grand Floridian or Contemporary are offering - they will be easy access (Pirates Cruise, Mother/Daughter Tea, Chef Mickey's, etc). Pressed penny machines are located on property as well as several hidden Mickey's, and I beleive the only hidden Tinkerbell can be found somewhere at the Poly.

There are others of course, but these might help for planning purposes!

Thank you The Incredibles. I just read a thread that mentioned a regular concierge & a lite concierage at the Contemporary. Do you know anything about this? Does any other Monorail Deluxe offer this?

The GF also has a full concierge service as well as a slightly more limited one (no alcohol or desserts.)

I guess I am out of the loop. How do I request this? I hadn't realized the alcohol was free. We are currently booked at the Poly concierge, do they offer a limited one? How much less are the rates? I would appreciate any info. :cheer2:

Only one package that I know of - can select Lagoon vs. Garden view rooms, but they are in the same building and funnel to the one concierge room.

Allearsnet.com might have the current food schedule; drinks are available (thankfully...) at night and its a nice selection...wines, Grand Mariner, Bailey's, Kaluha & Crown I think.

Very nice desserts come with this and there are usually 6 platters with 8-10 different items.
