8 day Parkhoppers - how is this done?

When you upgrade to the season pass, everyone needs to go because they take pictures for the card.

Can you schedule Legoland on one of the days that is blocked out? That's what we're doing on our next trip. There's one day blocked out, so we'll go to Legoland that day. We bought 3-month Legoland passes from Costco last month, so they'll still be good when we go back next month.

I say go for the AP...don't forget, your get MANY discounts on food, souvenirs, free parking (premium), etc. Plus the super cool thing is it might just make you come back !

This is all making me really glad I ordered my 8 day hoppers 2 weeks ago. We may upgrade to APs while we're there, but I really wanted the option to use the 8 day hoppers first. Such a bummer that they've discontinued them!

I had thought of that - the only bad part is, our blackout dates that I am concerned about (our first day at the park would also technically be a B/o date, but we will use our ph's for that day) are the Sat and Sun of Memorial Day weekend. I have heard that Legoland isn't quite as well designed for large crowds, and with the ages of our kids, we'd really like to avoid waiting in hour long lines for rides they'd only ever be able to do once. Since we've never been to Legoland, I would prefer to do it on a "low crowd" day, to maximize what we can do, since we have 6 days for DL and only 1 for Legoland.

Thanks to everyone's great advice, I think we will do the 6 day hoppers, do Legoland on Wednesday, and see how the week goes. If we still decide to upgrade to AP's, we can do it on our last few days. And if we feel that we'd like more time at the parks, then we can always purchase the blackout days at that time (just hope the ticket lines aren't insane on Mem. Day weekend! )

With a 2, 3 and 5 year old, your kids will love both Legoland and Disneyland. There's a lot for them to do at both parks. Our kids are 3 and 5 and these were their two favorite parks. (We did Disneyland, Universal, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Legoland, SeaWorld, and the San Diego Zoo last month.)

I'm sure they'll be busier over Memorial Day weekend, but Legoland was almost vacant when we went. I can't think of anything we had to wait for. I know we didn't even have to get off to ride again many times.

Also, if you have a rainy day, the Sea World Aquarium (at Legoland) is a good choice, but that's probably 2-3 hours max with kids that age. It's included with some tickets/passes. We bought 3-month passes from Costco ($52 for adults, $43 for kids) but I see they've raised the prices (now $64 and $55!) since then.

They just canceled the 7/8 day hoppers last week, so that would make sense. I called the DL ticket office today, but I've spoken with the WDTC/Room only reservation people yesterday and today.

That's a little bit weird. I can't think of a reason why they'd do that.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't bet on being able to use tickets that old. You may or may not be able to upgrade to the current to-date prices. Someone else may be able to clarify better.

Maybe someone else can verify but I'm pretty sure I've read on the boards somewhere that you can bring old, unused tickets to the ticket booths (or guest services?) and they will credit the amount you originally paid toward the price of the new ticket. Maybe also calling DLR ahead of time might not be a bad idea.

I think lavendar is right. They will honor them to the point of letting you pay the difference. I think...but please check!

Also I can see why they would do away with such a long pass. Mary Jo is right....soooo many people/idiots on ebay selling the last half of their ticket. It does suck for those who are honest but unfortunately it only takes a few people to spoil it. I also see that they stand to make much more money off tickets by either having you buy 2 passes of just purchasing an AP. Having an AP makes you more likely to return....more money for Disney.

When we went to Disney World in 1988 we had tickets leftover. When we went to Disney World in 2004, we were able to trade those tickets in for current passes. When we had tickets leftover in 2004, they were used at Disneyland last year (did you follow that?!)

I am sure you can use the old tickets (or at least pay the difference between the two).
