All of us it is our first time cruising! We are SO excited!

Just a heads up for you guys.....someone posted that DCL decided to hold Palo brunch on the second CC day (Wednesday). Pirate Night will be Tuesday (Nassau).

Rats. I'm not sure what I am going to do about Palo brunch. We're one of those families that likes to hit the beach at CC right after breakfast. I was hoping Palo brunch would be held on the Nassau day since our plan is to stay onboard and enjoy the ship that day.

What's your thoughts on this?

Absolutely we will get together onboard. Customary DIS meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm on the first day. That is a great place to gather and introduce ourselves then onto the safety drill and the sailaway party.

The Wonder got some fabulous drydock changes and has some advantages over the Magic right now. Besides getting the big jumbotron as well, the Wonder has a really cute toddler splash area next to the Mickey pool and the Quiet Cove area got really pretty teak furniture and the loungers around the pool have comfy cushions :cloud9: I will be spending plenty of time on those.

I find the CMs as a group are more outgoing and friendly on the Wonder versus the Magic. That's not to say the Magic's CM are not good, but the ones on the Wonder just have that extra spark.

There really isn't anything bad about the Wonder other than that DCL is taking forever to figure out which day to hold Palo brunch.

As for 2009....the Magic stays in the Caribbean all year long  with new stops in St. Croix and Tortola. The western itinerary is still the same. So lots of choices for 2009. We're on the 8/22 western as we haven't been to Cozumel since 2006.
Hey thanks for the input on the wonder.:) We are excitied to meet you all. will be there at 3 p.m. we dc last nov 06 had a great time at cozomel. one dsf on disb got us all for $5.00 green bands so we could know we were all talking on disb. that was fun to meet dcl fans. what is the thought on this? we are now at 8 degrees in w. va. and are getting our group to look for dis sales etc to keep our winter blues away. Have you been to nassau (our 1 time). any true must see or would day on ship be better?. thanks again, catch up later

Wrist bands are a cute idea....in addition to the t-shirts.

We're going to treat Nassau like a day at sea and stay onboard to relax.

Anyone else sick lately? Man, all four of us have been laid low by headcolds this week. Normally, I'd be out skiing today but just didn't feel up to it. DD and I were camping with the Girl Scouts two weeks ago and one of the moms in my cabin was sick. Sure enough - a week later, I'm sick.

KC.............I hope you are all feeling better today. I'm hoping my DS won't get sick. He just got back from a scout weekend where they were sleeping in tents in snow in the middle of PA. Too cold for me. The only problem is when he comes home the house is too hot for him at 67°. He leaves for his first skiing trip in two weeks.

Rick.....that is some crew you will be traveling with. You are going to have so much fun together. BTW...where did all your posts go?

I was wondering the same thing about Coach Rick's posts - did some evil spell erase them? How wonderful to be cruising with such a large family. I tried to get the extended family to cruise together but we couldn't find a time that worked for everyone.

Shirley......those Boy Scouts do like to do things the hard way - tent camping in the snow??????? We Girl Scouts draw the line on that. That said, an extremely warm cabin is a perfect breeding ground for spreading germs from someone who is all congested and on cold meds. Next time - I'll be bringing a case of lysol with me and constantly spraying the cabin.

Good luck on you son's ski trip. Today's shaped skis make it much easier to learn to turn and with one lesson most people can get off the bunny slope. Way better than the straight skis of our childhood.

They're back...

I had to create a different user name without a space between coach and rick for the chat room, and I must have inadvertently signed in with it.

Yep, my group keeps growing......I only pray my dad is still well enough to come. It is so important for us to travel all together. He loved the cruise we sent them on last January, he keeps looking so forward to this trip...

Coach Rick - we'll keep your dad in our prayers. I'm sure his determination will see him through to the cruise.

Funny story about signing in under a different name. I belong to a skiers MB that has a mom and son as members. The son is a teenager and speaks like a typical teenager. One time the son accidentally signed in under his mom's account and starts posting.

It was so funny to read his style of speech under his mom's name. :lmao: We were joking that something must have happened to the mother.

Hey......I think our cruise is almost sold out!!!! Have you guys tried booking a new reservation? I like to check the prices to see how much they have gone up and the DCL web site is showing NO availability at all for our cruise if you include children (there are room categories available for adults only).

There is availability for all the other August sailings but not ours.

It sure is a blustery day here in the northeast U.S.

Thanks. It is the one thing he keeps saying.

That is funny. If you enter 2 adults it comes up with a Cat 4 Family room, but if you add two more people, nada. Even though the Cat 4 sleeps at least 4.

Blustery, I'll say....Only 199 days to go.... Yippeee....

If you can't add the kids then that means the kids' clubs have hit their capacity for staff-child ratios. So DCL won't let you book them in your room.

I tried for different ages of kids and still got nada.

Wow - under 200 days!!!!:cheer2:

It's all seeming more real to me now...I booked my airfare last night! I got $159.00 R/T from Washington Dulles to MCO on Southwest and I don't think I'll do better. Fares have been much, much higher than usual from my area lately.

I've been checking airfares too, they are very high :s Will cost us about 900 EUR to get in Florida. :(
Now bags are packed, within 30 minutes we'll be on our way to Disneyland Paris for the weekend. I'm so in the mood for some magic!

Is that about $1800 USD (or more)? Yipes! It'll be worth it,though.

Have fun this weekend! :)

I thought I'd add us to this list... me (40ish?), DH (44), DD(7) and FIL(87). My FIL will be turning 88 on the last day of the cruise. Do you folks think it's worth mentioning to the CMs?

Also, my daughter will only be 3 weeks away from turning 8, which would qualify her for the next level of the kids club. Do they ever let kids on the cusp bump up for more age appropriate activities? I really don't think there's much she has in common with a 3 yo.

Ahoy!

Karen

Add our family to the list!

"Cyndisun"--Cyndi & DH Scott (both celebrating our 40th bdays:cake: ) and DS Ben (11)--late seating, CA

Our last Disney cruise was 2001 and we didn't know about DISmeets. Not to sound like a dating service, but DS 11 loves baseball and video games--would love to find a friend. :chat:

Can't wait to meet you all!

Cyndi, If you mention it, they will make your last dinner on the ship very special indeed. They did for our 25th anniversary last year. Very cool! Not sure about the kids club thing, but if you email them, they will respond.

I have begun to edit the list I made on page 21. I will keep that up for a running tally. It is under my other username "coachrick" (no space on that one)-same guy, twice the coach:lmao: Anyhow, if your name and group does not appear in it either PM me or post it and I will keep it updated.

Booked my flights last night. Not too bad, $180 R/T from Providence. Only thing, I will be modifying it when the new schedule comes out. We are planning on coming home on the 24th, and the schedule ends on the 22nd, but I didn't want to miss out on the "web special" fares going down.

Also booked a trip to WDW for July 2nd to the 8th. I know, I know, it's hot, and crowded, but I want to see the 4th of July fireworks at least once!:wizard:

Finally we have some good temps here, 47 at 6 AM when I awoke. I may just have to get my motorcycle out this afternoon for a little spin!:rolleyes1

Absolutely worth mentioning - tell your servers on the first night at dinner and they can do a birthday cake and singing

I believe if a child is within 4 weeks of a birthday that they can move up an age group

What video games does he like? My DD is 11 and plays lots of video games.
p.s.....we didn't do our first DIS meet until our 2006 cruise.

And what a great way to celebrate the big 4-oh!!!!
