8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Yes - my DD is really excited as well - she was happy you guys are on deck 6 too!

I am the ever over-packer. I am a little better than I used to be, since I am trying to limit it to what I will ACTUALLY wear, not what i might want!!:rotfl:

I know - I was thinking of all the lucky ones too. We head to Universal Thursday morning (staying at the hyatt Wed night) through Sunday - so we will need the rest on Sunday!!

Coach Rick, did you get my email re picking up the shirts? Maybe it would be easiest for both of us if you could just bring them to the port..are you okay with that?

That would be fine. What ever is easier for you. Now that I have a rental car, I can do anything...not tied to buss's anymore!

That would be great, Coach Rick! I can't wait to see the shirts!

disnutz, I'm an overpacker too but I'm really trying not to do that this trip. I find myself throwing in an extra top here or there, and then asking myself why am I doing that when I won't even have a chance to wear it! My kids must think I'm crazy because I keep talking to myself!

My DD has a medium sized suitcase that I thought she was going to use for our trip. She took it for her 4 day trip to Washington (I never saw so many clothes for a 4 day trip and that's coming from an overpacker), and she told me that it wasn't big enough and that's why she wants the bigger sized suitcase for this trip because we're away for 10 days. And her dad took her on a shopping spree yesterday (mostly for back to school clothes) so of course now there are all these new clothes that she wants to take. As I mentioned, thank goodness my DS is coming so he can handle his sister's suitcase.

:lmao: My rule....if you can't carry it, don't pack it...:lmao: That rule alone severely cuts down on what is being packed...:thumbsup2

We have a 1br at AKV before the cruise, and a 1br after, so we are packing for 5 days simply because we can wash clothes before and after the cruise.

Coach Rick, it's obvious that you're a man!!!! But I admit that you're right!

I'm planning to do a laundry after the cruise too but when I told my DD that, she mumbled something about having to wear the same outfit in a horrified tone! :confused3 I told her that we would be in a different place (WDW versus the Wonder), it's going to be so hot no one will care, and why is that an issue in the first place, but she just looked at me with pity as if she was saying 'poor Mom, she just doesn't get it'.

Coach Rick, when are you leaving for WDW? And what's a 1br?

1br means one bedroom.

I like that rule that of "if you can't carry it, then don't pack it".

I have this lingering problem with DD of forgetting to pack something even when its on the packing list. Twice now I've forgotten to pack her pajamas.

Oh the horror of having to wear something twice. :scared: Gotta love teenagers. It was so much easier when we chose what they wore.

My view is.....if it isn't stained and doesn't smell, you can wear it again.

In all seriousness.....I am concerned about being to fit my left foot into my dress shoes. My foot is still slightly swollen from the foot surgery - particularly the toe. I see the foot doctor on Wednesday and he said he'll give me a cortisone shot for the lingering pain. I hope that will help with the swelling as well.

Otherwise, I'll be the one going around barefoot all the time.

Right now I wear different sized sneakers and each is a different color. When people ask I joke and say its a fashion statement.

I just noticed my pirate hat has cat fur all over it.

Plan right now is to leave AKV at 10:30, and a 1br = 1 bedroom (they have washer and dryer in the unit)....

Oh GOOD...From the National Hurricane Center: (yes there are TWO)

One feature is located about 650 miles east of the Lesser Antilles along 49 west with a broad area of low pressure centered near 13 north. This low pressure area and the clouds, showers and thunderstorms attempting to wrap around it have been moving west-northwest at about 10-15kts. Computer simulations suggest this feature will attempt to organize over the next few days as it moves west and northwest and could become an organized tropical depression over the next 48 hours. Surface temperatures are near 80 degrees Fahrenheit and upper-level winds are favorable. The only limiting factor is drier air to the north and northwest. If this dry air gets drawn into the low pressure area this could prevent thunderstorms from wrapping around the system. A hurricane hunter aircraft is scheduled to visit this area on Tuesday. The same computer models take this system toward the southern Bahamas toward the start of the weekend.

Coach Rick-
Your scaring the crap out of me! You have the weather all wrong. This is what I read:

Sunny skies, with a chance of a cloud, here or there to help block the sun every 5 minutes or so...
Warm, tropical breezes, making naps on CC so much better...
Cloudless nighttime skies....to see the wonder of the stars!

THIS is what my cruise will look like! ;-)

Ok, I'm going on yours instead....:cool1:

Coach Rick-

When are you leaving? I think I'll be "talking" to myself soon! I wish I was leaving now, but we'll have 8 days after the cruise, so I'll have my fill!

yep, I'm leaving Thursday morning

Make sure you don't argue with yourself. :lmao:

With the cost of airfare, I want to get every minute in I can with the "Mickster" :cool1:

Thanks to everyone who let me know what 1br means....I think I've got that brain freeze happening where you forget everything you know because you're so focused on going on vacation. How embarrassing!

Coach Rick, I'm with kewlteacher re being really nervous now about the weather, but I loved her weather forecast so I'm joining the two of you on that trip!

BTW, I won't be on my computer tomorrow because I'm taking my DD to her horse show, so have a good trip to WDW if I don't talk to you before! And that's great that you can do your laundry before the cruise! A rental car and a washer and dryer...you're all set!

Kewlteacher, I'm not leaving until Saturday morning so you can talk to me until Friday! There are a few of us who aren't leaving until the very end of the week.

Sea-and-Ski, I hope your foot is better for the cruise and the dress-up night! Can you not wear fancier flip flops maybe? Or do you need to wear something with more support than that?

And thanks for the laugh re your comment about your pirate hat!!! Cats..they have no respect for anything!

I'm with everyone else re any possible hurricanes.......just want partly cloudy skies for CC.

(ugh....just looked at weather.com and accuweather and both sites did mention the disturbances in the Atlantic).

Oh well.....worse comes to worse then we'll be on the Magical Mystery Tour or the cruise to nowhere.

I'm here until Saturday morning. So I'll be posting until then.

My physical therapist is currently torturing my ankle trying to loosen it up. I can see a big improvement versus last week. In hindsight, I should have called him while I was at the Jersey shore and asked for advice when the ankle started to stiffen up.

Maybe I'll surprise him next week and call him from the Wonder :lmao:

Our cats are funny.....they do NOT like it when they see us pulling out the suitcases.

We're still here... until Saturday morning. I've finally started packing and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I'm trying to limit what we are packing - no pirate costumes (I'm a little depressed about that!), very few extra pairs of shoes, trying to put together outfits instead of bringing lots of options, etc. I always forget to bring something, I just hope it isn't anything important. Last trip I forgot my brand new 2G memory card, ack!

BTW - we are in 6050, (me) Ellen 34, DH Jason 38, DS Jarrett 8, and DS Owen 4. I am praying for good weather, but I am confident we will have a great time no matter what. I feel for everyone trying to recover from injuries, illnesses, etc. I keep telling the boys to be careful, we don't have enough time for them to heal up if they get hurt now!

Va mama - You are in our same room right across the hall!! (We are 6550) - I tried to decide which one when I booked, but went for 6550 - we'll have to compare :lmao: (although if your is better, I don't wanna know:) )

OK - this is it folks!!! After 1 1/2 years waiting, planning and getting ready, we are off tonight!!!:cool1: I cannot believe I booked this cruise so long ago - sometimes it seemed it would never be here!!!! :woohoo: (Booked in Feb 2007)

See you all on the ship - if you see a crazy family all wearing Coach's shirts in the terminal - come say hi!!!

I will be at Universal riding the hulk tomorrow am. Safe travels everyone - see you there!!!!

Oh - Va mama - I just noticed you have an 8 yr son - my son is 8 as well - (9 next week). Hope you can make it to the cruise meet at 3 - he would love to have a buddy!!

Have a safe trip....See you there. I am sure I won't have a hard time finding you! :lmao: BTW, I will be the one with the lime green shirt :rotfl:

I finally looked at the weather. Faith, trust, and pixie dust. :wizard:

Sea-and-Ski.... sending you pixie dust for you foot. Wear whatever makes you foot happy. I have a foot problem that has prevented me from having some wonderful shoes. C'est la vie. If the girl next door can wear fancy white flip-flops to her extremely nice wedding, so can you.;) Take care.

Travel safe everyone. See you at the Dis Meet.

We are out of here.pirate:

Ok..anyone still here? I'm freaking out about the weather and just read on the main post board about people who flew out the day of and missed the boat! We've always flew on the day of..we fly the first flight out...but my husband is insistant we will be ok!
Oh my!!
