The kissing story is so funny!!!

You would think the way my children hook up with other people that we didn't want them around. :sad2: My DD especially sees the ships as one big Dis family. :grouphug:

:rotfl:

We, too, view the ships as one big family.

DS said it was hysterical seeing the "kissing" video being replayed continuously in Aloft.

Apparently the couple were sitting close enough to where the security camera was mounted that
a) you can tell who they were
b) the extent of the kissing (and I'll leave it at that)

:rotfl2:

Hi there!
The kissing story was hilarious! Boy, there's a vacation memory for you!

And Sea-and-Ski, I loved your story about the kids playing basketball in the rain and they turned out to be your kids!

Is everyone experiencing post-cruise depression??? I sure am!

Thank you all so much for all the kind words and thoughts. Dad is still hanging in there, but it is tearing me apart seeing him go down like this. At least he has woken up and they are attempting some PT to try and get him walking again, but I don't think he will ever be able to go home again.:sad1:

I am trying really hard to get excited about cruising next August, but I am having a really hard time at it right now. This was a crushing experience.

I love the pictures and an am enjoying the stories. I sure hope we get to meet some day....

Lynda, not sure I will show my DW your post...she might dump me..:lmao:

I keep looking at my countdown clock and thinking about a year ago at this time, planning and meeting all of you online here, and it's hard indeed...Well they say things happen for reasons..perhaps it was the 3 hour bus ride, I HATE BUSES!...:lmao: .don't know why, but here's to the next time...:drinking1

So far only two dis'ers on my Aug 16 09 trip.

Thanks for keeping us posted about your dad, Coach Rick. He's still in our thoughts and prayers. That's good news that he's awake but I know it's really tough for you right now. Well, you know that you have a lot of support from your dis friends, not to mention that lovely family of yours.

I'm sure your DW knows how lucky she is to have such a great hubby so no worries about showing her my post!!

When our server told us that it was a 4 hour ride to Orlando from Fort Lauderdale, I thought for sure that he was kidding! I went on a bus tour of Morocco last year and between the mountains, curvy roads and crazy driving, I thought I was never going to recover from the motion sickness. So 4 hours on a bus was not good news for me. But I just put on my ipod and it wasn't bad at all. As I mentioned, I have to hand it to Disney for making the change in plans as comfortable and easy as possible.

Another ironic thing was that I had just told the kids that we didn't have to do the Immigration thing at 6am on the last morning any longer and could get a bit more sleep. Then the captain came on the intercom right then and told us about the situation including leaving the ship at 5:45am!!!!

BTW....I will never book a mid ship room on deck 8 ever again. The overnight noise from deck 9 was the worst I've ever heard. Woke us up every night!!!!

Oh boy, and when I rebooked I took 8534. Are those the only ones with the Murphy bed in the living room?

Those mid ship cat 3's don't hear as much deck 9 noise as the rooms right around 8048.

Its the rooms directly under the Goofy pool that are the problem.

Buuuuuuut......those mid ship cat 3's are squeaky rooms. The wood molding seems to squeak at night. It was no where near as bad as the deck 9 noise but I did notice it.

Yes, those rooms have the murphy bed in the "living" room. Very nice. And those cabins are definitely bigger than the standard cat 3 rooms.

And we continue to keep your father in our thoughts. It must be such a trying time for you and your family. Hang in there.:grouphug:

I just had to post to this - we were in 6550 and had a squeaky room! Last time we were 6540, no problems. This time, the squeaking kept me up for the first 2 nights. Drove me crazy - I would rebook a different room next time for sure.

Also - I know some people were going to the Poly either before or after the cruise. Lynda - was it you or Dizzy world or maybe Willem?

Just wondering - I think we have decided to stay at POP for the first 3 days at Easter to be with the dance buddies, and then move over to Poly for the rest of Easter week. Since it will be so crowded - i thought better to be near things and have a great resort. So how were the Poly stays? Thoughts, complaints, etc?

It is absolutely maddening to be in a noisy room as there is nothing you can do about it. I've tried bringing small fans to create "white noise" but then the noise of the fan keeps me up.

Getting some deja vu here as hurricane Hannah is bearing down on NJ. We're not getting the high winds that was forecasted but plenty of rain and boy do we need plenty of rain. My grass is brown and I can rake my lawn already due to the fallen leaves.

I must say we were so lucky that we were able to dock at Castaway Cay both times on our cruise. I know the CMs said that was solely due to the fact that the winds were blowing in the right direction, but still the seas were rough that second CC day. Did you see how many ropes were used to tie up the ship?

Its funny looking at my photographs from the CC days because I can easily tell which day is which based on the weather.

Kids are back in school and I'm swamped with my Girl Scout stuff. Nothing like being busy to cure the post-cruise-depression syndrome.

We stayed at the Poly before the cruise for 3 nights. It was wonderful as always. Since they re-did the rooms over the past years, it seems like the rooms are cleaner. The only thing I have had to add to my list was to request a non-connecting room. The first night was pure hell. The family next to us came home around 2 AM. They ordered a boat load of room service and were having a great time. I thought I was going to loose my mind. Even Alex asked when they were going to be quiet? I figured they'd sleep late in the AM. Wrong, they were up and getting ready at 7:30 AM. It was really the one woman that was really being loud. I have to admit at one point we yelled at the door to them to be quiet. What we heard was the woman say to the family only speak Spanish. I'm not kidding. We peaked out the room when they left and there were 7 people leaving the room. We talked to the front desk and asked what could be done and what we suspected (about having too many people in the room). First they asked me to just call their room and talk to them myself. Not happening. Then told me if it happened again to call security and they would check on how many people were in the room. I didn't have to call. The next two nights were a lot better. I would have changed rooms but I would have had to give up a morning in the park to pack up everything and everything else that goes with that. In the evening my best friend and her family were driving in to spend the evening with us and go to the park the next day, so I didn't want to give up that time either.

After the cruise we went to the CR with a MK view for the first time. This was my DH's dream. I forgot to make the non-connecting room request, got to the room, and there it was agin. The kids and I said not again, turned around and went back to get another room. The view was okay. I did like watching the castle change colors all night. I did look over the roof of the convention center. I knew I'd be looking over the parking lot, but not a roof too. Oh well. And in the hallway, we could see all the characters in Chef Mickey. That was fun. The room was clean but there were some issues.

I'll add more later. I need to go watch a documentary with Alli on Mia Hamm and women's soccer.

Hi Disnutz, I did reply to your post re the Poly and I thought I submitted it but it's not there! Anyway, we haven't been to the Poly since 2004 but I really liked it. The best thing is the monorail; it's just so convenient. And the rooms are larger of course and so are the bath towels! The pool was neat but when we were there, there were no hot tubs and I did miss them after a long day walking in the parks. The Kona Cafe was great, and we enjoyed the dinner in the bigger restaurant there (can't remember the name). I loved the tropical decor and all the greenery in the lobby too; it made me really feel like I was on holiday. Dizzyworld, too bad you had such awful neighbours! Isn't it amazing how nervy and inconsiderate people can be!

Sea-and-Ski, I wanted to say that I found it so funny when I read your comments re your kids playing basketball in the rain!

Also, what's a murphy bed?

Also, what's a murphy bed?

It's a bed that Murphy sleeps in. :lmao:

Sorry...couldn't resist..

It's a bed that pulls out from the wall, and the suites have one and that gives you sleeping space for 5. In most of the rooms it's in the master bedroom, but a select few it's in the living room, which for my 18 yo son is ideal....;)

Coach Rick, I can always count on you to bring a smile to my face!

Thanks for the info! I've never been fortunate enough to afford a suite so I wasn't familiar with them at all.

Oh believe me, it took me all of that year and a half after booking it to pay for it...And there were times I was wondering if I would make it. :scared1:

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in --- I know I'm kind of late but time has seemed to slip away. I'm glad to see everyone had a great time. I know we did. It was great to be apart of the "group", you guys made it lots of fun. :thumbsup2

Unfortunately it's back to the hum-drum of everyday life. It is starting to cool off here, the leaves have started to turn colors and we have to scrape frost off the car windows in the morning. Oh, the joys of living a million miles from paradise...

Hey frozenmickey! Glad to hear that you had a great time! It must have been nice to see your kids again once you were back home though!

Frost already??? Wow, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised since you live in the Yukon! We have seen a definite turn to colder weather but we're still getting temps in the 20's (C). We're still getting a lot of rain though. Everyone here is hoping that we'll get some mercy and the winter will be nice and mild. I work for an insurance company and we've seen an incredible amount of claims due to damage caused by all the snow and rain we've had this year.

The nights here are getting colder. I've got a lot of leaves on the lawn. August was extremely dry and my lawn was brown. We've had some rain courtesy of Hanna and some severe thunderstorms yesterday so the grass is greener again.

Dizzyworld.....what a horror story with the family next to you. I'm a light sleeper so any noise keeps me up.

Did you see the 5-night Magic double dip cruise couldn't make the second CC stop. Boy, did we luck out that we could dock at CC both times even with Fay close by!!!!

I think we were very, very lucky with the weather on Castaway Cay and the entire cruise! People keep asking me if Faye affected the cruise and I have to honestly say it didn't. We just had the rain the night of the pirate party but they had it the next day again so who's going to complain about an additional party. And then there was the morning in Nassau, but it was quite nice in the afternoon. It was too bad some of the activities on CC were cancelled, but at least we all got to swim and sit on the beach. That's too bad about the 5 day cruise; how disappointed they must have been not to visit CC the second time!

I regret to inform all my buddies here that my dad passed away this past Sunday. I have so many feelings right now, I can't even begin to describe them. I am thankful that my mom, my sister and myself were by his side at 4:51 AM this past Sunday. There was no struggle. He simply lifted his head slightly, took one more deep breath, and with a single tear from he eye left this earth to a better place. I will miss him deeply, but thank God every day for giving me such great parents!

I post here because you were all so supportive in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for everything.
