8/17/2008 Double Dip 4-day Wonder

Ok, we're all set now :) Went to the solarium tonight to get some colour and just had a last portion of belgian fries :p
Don't think I'll be back here so see you all soon on the Wonder!

Safe journeys Willem!!! See you and Steven at the ship! (Remember the meet - promenade Lounge at 3 on sailaway day! - if you miss us there - look for the crazy group of people wearing the lime green shirts!:rotfl: )

Safe journey Willem.....have a great time at WDW. See you on the ship.

Disneymama....we'll still be posting after this cruise so you'll hit 100 posts with no problem (liked the pun - that's a good sign if you still have your sense of humor right before you leave on vacation).

Re checking in the luggage.....are you flying home the same day we disembark? I believe you can check in your luggage at the DCL port before you board your bus.

Coach Rick....I would bring all the t-shirts with you on the cruise. On my 2006 cruise all us DISers wore matching shirts and I got stopped at the Orlando airport and in the port by people on the cruise asking where I got the shirt.

We signed up for a limo service for the trip from the airport to the port. Now I can't remember which company.....its the one that sponsors the DIS. I believe we get a grocery store stop, too.

I just finished a very relaxing week. Both kids were in Virginia all week with their camp. They hit Busch Gardens, a water park, got to see The Dark Knight at an Imax theater. Plus, DH is on an overseas trip.

SO I WAS HOME ALONE ALL WEEK!!!!! Just me and 2 cats and a hamster.

It was heavenly. Five days of a clean house. I got to watch all the TV shows I wanted.

Tomorrow we are going to a huge family reunion. Last one was in 1982. So its been a while.

Did I mention I saw Mama Mia......it was fantastic. Everyone in the movie theater was female. I wanted to get up and dance. Pierce Brosnan looks :cloud9:

Yep, the same thing is happening here. Tomorrow the guys come home from the Keys. Goodbye tidy, clean house.

Nice to hear about the movie since I heard some local writers say it wasn't any good. It looked like great fun to me.

Well, the lights are on (can you believe it's still dark at 4:30?????), but we're turning them off.

See you all on the boat!:cheer2:

Have fun Disney mama - see you on board.

Today is pack day. Tomorrow is door signs. Mon and Tues work and then fly out wednesday.

The FIL rides in a wheelchair through the parks, so we pick one up for free at the hotel (saves $ cuz you pay for a chair at the parks).
That may not continue to be a free service of loaning wheelchairs. In the most recent official WDW Guidebooks for Guests with Disabilities, dated January 08, says:
Walt Disney World Resorts also offer wheelchair rentals to their Guests. Quantities may be limited. Please contact the Front Desk for assistance.

So, I don't know if that means they are going to stop giving complementary wheelchairs. At any rate, there never was a guarantee that one would be available when you arrive and ask for one.
I do know that some recent posters have mentioned that the wheelchair they were offered at the resort for loan was in poor condition and not very comfortable, so they ended up renting one instead.
I'd suggest bringing along the phone numbers of some outside rental places so that you can call and get one if a loaner doesn't work out.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I have been so busy. I haven't been on here in a while. I see we are meeting at 3:00 in the Prom lounge, sailaway day? Sounds good.

My daughter and I have a early dining ressie, but my husband booked a couple of days later and not only got hit with a fuel surcharge, but got a late seating for dinner...?.... Wonder "no pun" how this is going to work out?

Hope to meet everyone onboard the ship!! I need to start think about what I am packing since we are leaving Tuesday morning for Disney.

Dawn

I'm signing off now. Our flight leaves at 6:00 a.m. PDT. My alarm is set for 3:00 a.m.! Dis shirts, camera and sunscreen are all packed--what more could I need? Well, I packed a bit more than that. :rolleyes1

See you all aboard!

Cyndi

Cyndi....good luck with that early flight. You definitely packed the essentials.

Dawn.....your husband got a different dinner seating :confused3 I would definitely call DCL right away and get that straightened out. It sounds like his reservation is not linked with yours.

Went to a big extended family reunion yesterday. Had a lot of fun but the traffic on the NJ Turnpike was awful. Plus, mapquest was wrong and had us going in the wrong direction on one of the highways. We went about 7 miles before we realized something wasn't right. :headache:

I just realized both kids have outgrown their dress shoes and we need to buy new ones.

I'm still getting over the shock that Brett Favre is a New York Jet. :thumbsup2

OK - I assume our numbers will continue to dwindle this week - for you lucky ones already on your way - hope you are having fun.:cheer2:

I am all packed except for the hubby  - he'll get his stuff out and ready tonight and I'll put it in the suitcases.

I have to get my tip envelopes ready. So here are a few last minute questions:

What night is semi formal night? I think night 3? We have Palo night 3m trying to figure out if DH need two nicer long sleeves, or just one.

What are the correct tips now? I don't want to use the old figures.

According to the July 1 Navigator, yes, the Tuesday night is "dress up" night.

Rest. Server: $16
Assist Server: $12
Head Server: $4
Stateroom Host/Hostess: $16

Per Person as outlined in the document booklet.

Can't believe it's finally here!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi everyone (who's left, that is),

Yes disnutz, looks like there's not a lot of us left. I kept thinking of Willem and Steven having their character dinner at WDW....lucky guys! Now there are a few more fellow passengers enjoying the magic..oh well, not long for us now! I keep reminding people here at work that this time next week, I'll be lying on a beach surrounded by turquoise water and white sand, and that my biggest decision will be whether to have the ribs or salmon for lunch, or both!

My DD is really looking forward to meeting your DD! I'm so glad they were able to connect!

I spent the weekend packing for myself and gardening all day yesterday....am I ever sore! I wanted to tidy the garden up before we left; it's been shamefully neglected all summer. And with all the rain we've had, it was unbelievable how overgrown it was!

Now all I have to do is get the kids organized. My DD just told me she needs a big suitcase to pack all her clothes! I keep telling her not to overpack but I know that it's futile to even think about that with her! Oh well, I've already put my DS16 on notice that he has to hoist the heavy luggage on and off the baggage belts!

Sounds like there are quite a few of us on Deck 6! It will be nice to see familiar faces!

Coach Rick, did you get my email re picking up the shirts? Maybe it would be easiest for both of us if you could just bring them to the port..are you okay with that?
