Yeah she is back

Glad to see you back ...

pirate:

Looks like she is throwing it into high gear just in case you even dreamed it was possible to catch her. :rotfl2:

If you thought it was tough keeping up before, get ready . . .

SHE'S BACK!!!!

ROFL!!! Back to the singers of the 70s.....I use to watch Donny & Marie every week. That is one way that we were punished...no D&M. OY! I use to tape the shows on my cassette player to replay & act out with my sister...before VCRs were around. I still have all of their albums.

BTW...I have Andy Gibb's shadow dancing album too.

She's back!!!!!

I confess that I too also have Andy Gibb's Shadow Dancing and the 1st one Flowing River? My girl friend and I use to tape songs and sing to them! Before all this advanced technology, there was the handy, dandy cassette player!

Gosh Garry and Vicki live near there. Vicki will be traveling with Stacey and Sharon. In fact Vicki works at Mercy down there. Garry and I spent alot of time talking about that area on our last thread. My DH grew up in Michigan--thumb area and then he went back for his residency in DTW. We lived in Centerline. but DH worked at a clinic after hours in Wyandotte. Atleast you are close to the airport for quick get aways like LA

It's a small world! I'm about 8 miles east of Metro Airport. Our house is in the flight path to the east-west runways. Sometimes they fly so low, I have to look up to see if the roof is still there! And I'm 1 1/2 blocks away from railroad tracks, so I'm pretty use to the noise. The one thing that still gets me is when a lake freighter blows its horn! :scared1: Especially in the middle of the night, sounds like it's in the same room as me! LOL! I'm about 1/2 mile from the Detroit River. Those darn freighters startle me everytime!

I don't think the thread for our August cruise was as long as this one was on its first day. Happy to (hopefully) be sailing with such fun people. Especially people who like pirates as much as we do.

BuddyBear: curiosity got the best of me and I called that number......WAY TOO FUNNY!!!!!!! I wonder if DVC knows how close their # is to "something else"......no wonder your wife nearly fell off the bed. So the question now remains, does anyone have any discreet charges for Compuquest on their charge bills?!?

pirate: Well here goes, I made my goal of 12,000 posts on my DISanniversary today, and since this is a "special" occasion, I only have one thing to say pirate:

Take What You Can!!!

GIVE NOTHING BACK!!!

Congrats Andy!!!:rockband: party: :jumping1: :dance3: :cheer2:

Gotta share a funny story that happend last night...

We finally decided to join DVC (it has been on our list for sometime) and the WELCOME package showed up last night. After looking through it I had a question so I thought I would call DVC. Missy had the brochures and stuff so I asked for the number and she said, "UH...it is 1-800-800-8900 or something like that". I called the number and was taken back by what I heard; it clearly wasn't anyone from Disney. For a laugh call the number and let me know what you think.

Ok EARS the deal, a new travel agent has set up business and gurantees getting a stateroom for you on any SHIP, as long as you will pay a small premium to him for his extra work in securing this deal.

He can be contacted at DCLTRAVEL @ DS9

Welcome back Lisa!! I am sure you needed a breather after the initial excitement!!;)

OK...so now I have to do a resume? ;) Let's see if I can remember that far back.

My first job was in a shoe store. I worked at Beneficial in skip tracing & Nationwide Insurance as an office assistant senior year thru office co-op program. Got a job at HFC in a branch as CSR for freshman year in college. Went to VA Wesleyan a year on full scholarship & transferred to JMU sophomore year. I worked full time waiting tables at Pizza Hut 40 hours a week while taking 21+ hours in school & completed 3 years in 2 going FT in the summer and graduated in 8/88 with a BA in Political Science with international relations and a Minor in Russian Studies with the language. I was accepted into Naval OCS for Intel and Russian Linguistics. Class date was set and went about working temp jobs the next year waiting. The cold war ended making everything I learned about the Soviet Union obsolete and delaying my class date. I went to NO with a family we knew to be a live in nanny and train for OCS. Offer came thru for switch to surface warfare in the gulf war and I said no thank you I will wait for my class date in Intel. End result that is the first program cut and I got an honorable discharge and had to get on with my life. Moved back to VA, got a job as Assistant manager at a CU. Left there due to no chance for advancement and went back to work with HFC at their central East coast office working in real estate collections. I transferred to HCS collections pre charge off when the company switched opperations in VA. I moved to NC with DH when NADEP was closed and worked a few months in the HFC branch nearby until I got tired of the sales pitch a loan officer had to do. Waited tables for the summer until we moved to another town in the area where I got a job in CS for the west coast accounts of a furniture manufacturer. I moved to the AR department to clean up the mess left behind by my predicessor and worked there until a month before DS was born. I have been a NAHM for the past 8 1/2 years. Two years ago I became involved in the school PTO and last year I was secretary, but actually stood in for the VP while she was attending to her father who was terminally ill in CA. I have since left the PTO and cut back a great deal on the time I give to the school. Thanks to the good people of the 12/9/06 cruise I learned one very important thing!!!!

NO!!!!!!
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yes, with much support & coaching & nagging I managed to take back my life and walk away. This year I have almost completely gotten away from being involved in the school. We are actually deciding where the kids will go next year since I refuse to allow them to attend this school anymore for their best interests. :( It is sad to see something that you put so much effort into go downhill so much.

Anyhow, that's me! I never knew how with the POSC & Russian I always ended up working in financial positions.

I guess after the 31st we should put together a dining list so we know who has what dining. We, for better or worse, are not late night folks.

We normally choose early dining and rarely stay up past 11:00 PM on any night except for the midnight dessert buffet. ;)

Jeff, I will coordinate the dining for the group. After all is set, I will need the resie number, room number, & names with the ages of the kids. Anyone who is WLE will be seated together. Last time those people were all moved to early dining at the 90 day mark and seated with us. We were along the right side of the dining rooms the entire length of the room and in a row or two. It worked out really well!

OK, so now how DH & I met. Well.....it was at a bar...a country dance bar...which is different from a hang out and meet someone bar in case you aren't familiar with them. :) I would go to Blakeley's every Friday & Saturday night 6-1 and dance with friends there. I had 2 step & swing partners. I never had to worry about being bothered by a guy I didn't know because my friends were like a family. Well, one night one of my dance partners brought his friend who I had danced with before and this friend's brother. He didn't exactly know many line dances and was pretty quiet. When Tim McGraw's Don't Take the Girl was played everyone else was dancing except us so I stood up & said something along the lines of ...I like this song, let's dance. One dance and many butterflies later I returned to the table and he went to the back bar. When the next slow song came on I went back to ask him to dance and found him talking to another girl. He said no so I went upstairs, down the front stairs and out the door to talk to friends. I was really mixed up because I had just declared that I didn't need a man in my life the week before after getting over a broken heart (for a real bum who didn't deserve the time of day in the long run ;)). Here I was jealous of a girl who was talking to a guy I had just met that night. GG! :lmao: Well, before the end of the night he came back to the table & asked me to dance. The rest is history.

You know Todd you asked who I was going to be-----are there any blonde hair blue eyed pirate wenches? I may have to do a dark wig huh? I will have to watch it all again and see what is plausible.

Hmmmm....I am wondering if you already know what I am about to say here....both Todd & his wife are blonde IRL. :lmao:

I love seeing behind the scenes, don't you??? It makes me appreciate all that they do. The most fascinating part about the medical facility to me was that I always think of passengers need but he said their biggest patient load by far was CM's as their family doctor, endocrinologist, dermatologist, ENT, ortho, They have shot clinics, health screenings, .....When you see the few hours that it is open.....that is because the rest of the time it is open for CM's. I always thought they just didn't work many hours.

Your tour sounds very cool.

Where was it that used to have the pictures of the staff quarters?

Judy, here is the human resource site.

http://www.dcljobs.com/interview.asp

I never thought about the fact that the clinic was the main doctor for the CMs. DUH!

Stinamom....Have to tell you that the last time I was on the thread DD came over to me and asked who had the birthday. I couldn't figure out what she was talking about. She pointed to your sig picture and said ... right there, Mommy! Mickey is wearing a birthday hat! :lmao: She didn't realize that it was the top of the Christmas tree behind him. :lmao:

Okay....that settles it. I'm not going on this cruise!!

First we have really lovely hockey-playing moms, and then there's Judy, the darling thing.....and now THIS....a gorgeous pirate's wife???

I'd have to walk around the ship with a BAG over my head, or die of shame!!!!

Stacey, all of us on the 12/9 thread thought the same thing but we couldn't find any bags big enough to hide in. Melissa is a very sweet person and you can't help but like her when you are around her. :)

Lisa---WOW I loved hearing all the things you have done. Its very fascinating.

My PTA story sounds very much like yours. I was overly involved in too many positions in the PTA and ended up pulling my kids out of the school when it increased in size from 600 one year to 1200 the next. They hired teachers that did not even speak English. I am now homeschooling. Some people think its crazy but when you look at what kind of education our kids are getting in school you know you can do equally as well. It has been a great transition as we have only been doing it since Oct. but we all love it and so we are going to continue next year. Here in FL it is so huge. Of course we are way down the list of states for best schools. And yes my kids get plenty of socialization at church groups/functions, swimming, art class, .......
