8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 7

Hi... I just got caught up in reading the posts and I probably shouldn't post right now, because to be honest, I'm a little upset and bewildered. Yes I did read on the other board that they were having a picnic. Yes I did sign up on the other board and only have one post, as they have a rule about lurkers. I really feel like you are a bunch of fun people, and I was trying to do my bit to fit in by offering to look into this for a gathering. I'm sorry if you thought I was trying to push everyone onto meeting the other board. That wasn't my intent. It seems alot of you know each other from previous cruises, and this was my attempt to belonging. After reading all the responses to my offer to investigate, I don't really feel like one of the wenches on this cruise.

I feel bad and a little guilty typing this right now, but I do want to be apart of this group, and enjoy a fantastic cruise with all of you. Please let me know if you want me to look into this further as an event for the DIS Board pirates on the Saturday or Friday before the cruise on an evening other than the other board.

Well I can't do anything before the cruise as I have my SIL in Burbank who would disown us if we didn't at least spend one day with her. But I wanted to give you a big Wenches

Thanks Andy and everyone else. DH surgery went well. He says that he is feeling pretty good--but I think it is the oxycodone. But he is up walking a little and keeping it iced.

Paula, I hope your DH does better with the oxycodone than I did, that stuff made me as sick as a dog. I hope your DH has a speedy and complete recovery.

I go this coming Tuesday to get x-rays of both of my knees(again). I go back to see my orthopedic surgeon in March to see what the next course of action is going to be.

I grew up in Toledo OH and I have lots of family and friends that still live there.

My dad lived in Toledo for a while growing up. Graduated from Scott High School. No family there any more, but he took my mom there for his HS reunion. Not sure where they stayed, but he didn't plan very well and ended up having to go to the vending machine to get them something for dinner the first night. Couldn't find a single place open.

Okay, so did anyone watch Grey's Anatomy last night. I thought it was pretty weak compared with the last two. They kept hyping up the "startling outcome". Not such a big surprise, really.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed with it, myself. Felt it wasn't worth staying up for it to see it live. Wouldn't have missed much if I just watched it tomorrow online.

I've had a very L-O-N-G, got alot done, but feel like I didn't accomplish a thing, ever have one of those days???

I'm sitting here falling asleep in my Lazy Boy.

She died peacefully in her sleep, so that is comforting.

Lisa - you and your DH have my sincere condolences.

Your post hits a little close to home for me. My grandfather passed away in his sleep in January and I fully understand. My grandparents retired from the ministry a year after I was born and a few years earlier than they should have because he had heart problems and wasn't expected to live but a few more years. That was almost 30 years ago. I grew up with them living 4 houses down the street for me, so they have always been there.

He had a stroke a few years ago that affected his short term memory. After some PT rehap, my grandmother took care of him at home for a year, then he got sick and went back to the hospital. He was sent to a nursing home with a DNR and do not return to hospital order, meaning that he didn't have much time left. That was about a year and a half ago.

Anyway, Grandpa was up eating lunch and got the nurses to sneak him a popsicle that noon. Around 2:30pm they called to see if they could give him antibiotics because he wasn't doing well. Around 4:30pm we were called to the nursing home because he was going downhill fast. He passed away in his sleep at 7:30pm. It was very quiet and peacefully and he was 'Promoted to Glory' as my grandmother softly sang to him. I hesitate to use the word 'perfect' but it certainly was a comforting end to a full and meaningful life. It was beautiful.

You and your DH will truly be in my thoughts and prayers.
