Had a lot of running around to do today, and in between was on the couch with my eyes shut. Been having some major headaches lately. Have to wait until next Friday to see the eye doc. :3dglasses I am a weirdo who's first indication of the need for new glasses is a bad headache.:headache:
oh I'm so sorry you have been having headaches! Remember when I mentioned headaches awhile back? I haven't had any since about a day or two after I posted that. Can a person get headaches as a result of dehydration? I really have to wonder because so far the ONLY thing I have changed is from drinking one soda a day and that's it, to drinking water all day long. I was obviously dehydrated, and that's the only thing that changed- so I'm assuming severe dehydration can cause migraines on a daily basis?

I used to get eye headaches- back when I worked having to look at a screen (and I don't mean a monitor right in front of me either- I mean further away than that) and also read books a WHOLE lot more often than I'm able to nowadays. I hate eye headaches! The only way I could get rid of them was to close my eyes (usually resulting in an impromptu nap LOL) and you can't always like close your eyes when you have things to do, at work, etc. :(

I just trained him the way I wanted since we met at 16.:cool1: I am sure glad DH does not read this thread.
Me: 07-30-46 John 10-20-46

Of course let us keep this a secret.:rolleyes1
hey, you almost have my birthday! I think you are the first person I've ever met with a 7/30 birthday. mine is 7/31/69 :)

I have insomnia.
Me too.

Sleep is for dead people . . or at least for non-noctural people . . LOL
:lmao:
I'm definitely nocturnal!

Got my Tax return today.:cool1:
Cool!
I noticed mine had been deposited a few days ago- woohoo! Deposited it straight into my savings account... won't be touching it! That, plus next year's tax return plus next year's vacation pay (which we ask for in Jan) are all going towards paying for this cruise. It should just about pay for the cruise- the rest we have to save up (for flight, DL beforehand, spending money, incidentals, etc. LOL)

Jay Leno had one of the actors from WILD HOGs on tonight. What a hilarious movie that looks to be . . .LOL. . .middle aged men going on a cross country on amazing Harley's . . . Maybe DH will take me to see it for our date night in March . . . Oh and it's a Disney movie, too.:thumbsup2
I want to see that movie!

(but not because of Jay Leno LOL)
And you're right, my DH might find this one Disney movie tolerable. He'll go see the kids movies (but mostly I go at times when he's at work, with the kids, so he gets out of it most of the time) but this one, like the POTC movies, might be one he'll actually enjoy- if nothing else but to ogle at the Harleys. Even since he's got one of his own, he can't keep his eyes off other's. LOL

And now the end of the multi-quoting (for this post anyway)

Okay, y'all wish me luck for tomorrow please. DH was asked (today) to work tomorrow and we really need the money so we couldn't turn it down- but OHMYGOODNESS I don't know how I'm going to get everything done tomorrow. I have so many things to do, in seperate towns even!, that are things that "must" be done at the same time- no way around that (bball games, cheering games, etc.) and it's really going to take major organization skills and everything going perfectly for it to work out!

Then please say an extra prayer for my kiddos tomorrow... wish us luck... something! Because tomorrow night is going to be a big one for us... especially Ruby. It is going to be her FIRST TIME babysitting her siblings while we go out. We're going to our long awaited evening out to see Cirque Du Soleil, and it's in Dallas so about an hour away. Now she's watched them for short periods of time- like say she's doing homework and one has cheer practice and DH is still at work- I'll let her stay home alone or watch one of her siblings. She's watched them like when we were moving over here, stuff like that- but those were short periods of time and with us very close by in case of emergency.
This won't be all THAT bad because fortunately it worked out that their bball/cheer awards ceremony is tomorrow night- for the younger two. Soo... we'll be dropping them off at the highschool where this is going on, a friend & mother of one of the boys on my son's basketball team is going to take them (all three) home afterwards. So technically they are only going to be home from about 8:30pm till we get home. We are paying her to babysit and ALSO bribed the younger two to be on their best behavior for her- if they will come home, have a snack (because they'll have to eat supper before 6pm when we drop them off) and go straight to bed (8:30-9pm is their usual bedtime except on Friday nights, they have church the next morning ofcourse). So technically they come home around 8:30pm, have a snack, get ready for bed and be in bed by 9pm. My Oldest always stays awake in bed way past that (she's still awake right now for instance) and my youngest two are past the age of waking up once asleep... so as long as they aren't AWAKE very long alone- I'm not all that worried. It's the awake time I'm worried about- mostly worried about running around like heathens and slipping on the tile or wood floors and busting their heads open or something like that. Getting hurt, that's basically what I'm worried about.

I really think everything will be okay though. Even in an emergency we have a system down. My mom lives in town but she's paralyzed, my sister lives in the next town over about a 15min drive (or less if she's driving like she drove me to the hospital to have my now 13yr old! LOL). So if anything happens, even if Ruby is "unsure" if it's something even close to an emergency- she is to call my mom, who will tell her what to do, if she should call ambulance/etc. and then my mom will call my sister who will rush here so an adult will atleast be present eventually if that happens to be necessary. Also the friend driving them home will be home answering the phone if they need someone to come over for any reason, faster than my sister could get there yet not worthy of calling 911. So we have our bases covered... but seeing as this is the FIRST time, I'm a little worried. That's not too overprotective is it? Well the thing is, in Texas the "legal" age to leave a child home alone with younger children is pretty vague. It basically states that if they are capable, then it's legal. Well if something bad happens (fire, injury, etc.) then they would probably say even though she's 13 she wasn't "capable" so we were negligent in leaving them with her. KWIM?

We're excited about going though. Besides the cruise time alone- we really NEVER go anywhere alone except for when Cirque Du Soleil comes to Dallas every year or two. The previous times my sister watched the kids at my house but she's got 3 kids and it really is a pain. When we get here she and all her kids have to be woken up to go home- so they can go to their church the next day... and that wakes my kids up/etc. Plus her littlest one is now at the toddler stage and our house is NOT baby proofed, plus he's not that steady yet and could hurt himself on our non-carpeted home/etc. So now that Ruby is 13 and has been "tested" quite a few times for short periods of time (as mentioned above), we feel she's ready to get her first chance babysitting. Atleast she's getting paid! I sure never got paid for constantly babysitting my younger siblings my entire childhood! LOL

But just wish us luck. We're going to call the oldest around 9:30-10 at intermission and make sure the younger two are minding and asleep in bed by that time and that everything is okay, but until then I will probably be worried. I want to enjoy myself and not worry too much. So maybe the prayers should be more for myself to stop worrying so much? LOL With the short amount of time they'll actually be home alone and awake... they should be fine. Especially because the youngest two REALLY want the $5 (which is a fortune to them LOL) for being good, not destroying the house or misbehaving, going to bed on time, etc. Call it an allowance they don't normally get, if you will... and they are excited about it- so they should behave themselves. I can't wait for our annual or bi-annual DATE tomorrow night! :)

Oh and I almost forgot to share my good news with you guys! you are always sharing your good buys so this one I have to share! I just "happened" across an auction of a waterproof watch (*down to 165 ft depth) because I was looking for boots for Jeff on ebay- he needs more boots and I bought some new but wanted some extras at a better price and one that I found and won cheap- I looked at their other auctions to see if we needed anything else or they had more boots, to combine on shipping- and happened across the watch. Jeff has been hinting that he wants a waterproof watch to wear when scuba diving for over a year now- but they are so expensive! Well I won it tonight for $5.99 and only $2.50 additional shipping cost for the combined shipping with the boots. I'm so excited because he'll be the big 4-0 on march 4th and he's not happy about being 40, let me tell you. LOL His age hasn't bothered him in the past but for some reason he's not very happy about turning 40... I get a scowl in return whenever I mention his birthday for any reason. LOL
We don't normally do gifts for one another on our birthdays, because we usually just buy whatever we want/need all year long- but he is really going to be pleased and surprised by this gift and I'm so excited because it was SO cheap and exactly what he wanted. Yeah for me! LOL

It looks hilarious. :lmao: John Travolta,Tim Allen,William H. Macy, Martin Lawrence.
Gotta see it!!!!

I should get going to ... Got a busy day tomorrow, but not as busy as Bibbidy's .. I just have to go to my mom's and strip wallpaper ...No minds in the gutter please!

Bip have a good time and since you have a support system just enjoy yourself. I remember we had a daytime function to go to and all our friends were away so DD age 11 at the time watched DS age 6. They were not allowed out of the house and there were no cells back then . I had spent most of the day calling home. They were fine.

Where is everyone? There weren't too many in the chat room tonight.

I'm only into the multi-quote thing for 2 reasons:
1. I'm nosey so I actually read all the posts and therefore I'm almost always behind... I read and by the time I catch up to the most recent page (that had been the most recent page when I started) at that point I'm still behind another 20 pages. unfortunately no one stops posting when I want to let me catch up. LOL

2. I talk a lot..... so then I actually want to respond to a lot of what I have read. Hence.. multi-quoting.

I don't think you need ever fear I will take your title away- for the most multi-quotes in the smallest space. :rotfl:

Fear....

....Is a realitve thing....

Should call it a night myself. Have to work my Saturday job at the Bead Shop. We have a girls birthday party coming in,20 7yr.olds...aaack!! They'll be making necklaces and bracelets for about 2 hours. I usually just direct traffic. They sell model trains on the other side of the shop and that's where Kev works.

Hey Crash! Looks quiet tonight. You must be glad you DW is back.

Hi everyone. Oh my gosh am I glad to finally be home! What a day I had at work. I'm the Public Relations Director for a large health care organization and we had a major scare late this afternoon. One of our employees opened an envelope with a white, powdery substance inside. Everyone in the area was removed and isolated for possible decontamination procedures. We had police, fire and hazmat all on the scene. The area was sealed off until hazmat could come in and test for any possible biohazard. Thankfully the tests were all negative and everyone involved was cleared.

Since I am in charge of media relations, I have to remain on scene to handle any media that call or show up. I had to go into emergency mode and prepare for a potential onslaught if the news got out or if it turned out to be something serious. Fortunately it was resolved quietly and without much delay so I am happy to say I won't be on the news at 11 tonight. But it was very stressful nonetheless and I am glad that it didn't turn into a huge story. Mostly I'm glad that everyone involved is fine and there is no threat to their health.

I'm going to go take a hot shower, slip into my jammies and have a glass of wine! TGIF!

Glad it was all for naught!! Our facilities moved all mail handling to an "undisclosed location". Depending on the site, incoming items were x-rayed to begin with but now they do all that stuff someplace else. Geez, now that I think of it, the mailroom folks must really feel loved!

What are most people doing before the cruise? Disneyland? I'm debating. In 05 we stayed at Huntington Beach and really enjoyed it. Anyone else doing something different?

bowl_dusk_low.jpg

Every year for the past 12-15 years I've put together groups of friends, family and neighbors together for outings at the Hollywood Bowl. We gather (12 - 60 folks) for dinner with either catered food or pot luck before hand then enjoied a concert in the Bowl. Obviously with a DIS group we'd do a catered meal. We often sit together but that is not a requirement as our group seats can easily be split... and as a group subscriber for over a decade I get the 1st distribution on schedule for the next year... well before it is published and ofetn an incomplete schedule as they offer us what they have as soon as it formulates.

So... I was thinking I could take an interest list on folks interested in hanging out in the hollywood area for the afternoon... followed by most likely a catered picnic ($8-12 per adult, $4-6 per child age 3-12 is sufficient) at the Hollywood Bowl. Generally I suggest a couple different types of cuisine and the group VOTES on what they want in advance. Then we go in for a concert. The committments would come in January and the pricing on seats would range from as low as $6 in the back up to $110 if anyone wanted box seats. I've had everything from the back to the garden boxes and I'm happy anywhere. However, I must confess that with kids we tend to sit futhest to the front or back... as the folks in the middle are slightly more stuffy with potential disturbances from the youngsters.

August is generally near the end of the season - and fireworks at the bowl are common on 1/3rd of the weekend evenings.

So... then it is parking and a show that runs til typically 10:30 and out by 11pm. Not sure if we'd do a friday or saturday... seein' as we sail on sunday (am I right?). I think a friday would be better even though some folks may have to contend with traffic. I would have to dream up a "recommended list of proper diversions for concert-goers so they do not get entangled in LA traffic snafus. IE... I would draw up hang out points and times to be here or there - so as to enable making the dinner and show on time. OR... we might do something else for supper.

I guess this is something we'll have to add into the list of DIS diversions precruise... Anyone who has any interest should PM me so I can plan on it... like I'm gonna be rushed if I don't hear from folks soon, eh?

I see on the Double Tree site, that there's a "Super Shuttle" from LAX to the hotel for like $17.00 sounds interesting. Anybody had any experience with this and is this something that has to be reserved?

Supershuttles can be reserved in advance and if you have a few folks traveling together, it's prolly best you arrange it in advance. That's because they operate as a shared taxi service. Coming from the airport, they'll pick up, say 5 people going to the same region/town. If you make a ressie they *might* give you a small discount since you're all going to the same place but usually they charge each person the same set fee.

Hi Everyone,
The rain stopped and it was a beautiful day here in So. Cal - I'm pulling out my roller blades and skating on the strand tomorrow - BTW for those who haven't been here "the strand" is a paved walkway adjacent to the beach - in the Santa Monica area the path actually runs through the middle of the beach.

OH skating on the beach. My two favorite things wrapped into one! I wanna go. I loved doing that when we lived in CA & FL.

PR crisis mode - gotta love it. I bet you thrive under stress like most PR folks. I never hope for those types of situations, but boy is it exciting to be in the middle of one. If you were any closer, I'd buy you a glass of wine.
Cheers!

Hey crash! I was thinking about you earlier and how much you must be enjoying having the wifey back. :)
That sounds great about the concert info you gave, and if we were going alone we'd be on it in a flash! But I really don't think it's something we'd do with the kids- they wouldn't enjoy it (especially with my sound-sensitive younger child and two older ones that would get too hyper) But it does sound like a lot of fun and reasonably priced too! I almost wish the kids weren't coming. LOL almost I said... just almost.

Good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine. Enjoy the show, any Cirque show is fantastic!!

I know!
We just love them. And it's a funny story how it all got started with our "addiction" to the cirque du soleil! It was during my business trip to Ca, back when I was about 8mo pregnant (and during that trip is when I went for a few hours to DL, on my own- and to this day that's been the only time I've been to DL!). Anyway, I was bored one evening and was just driving around... and I forget why I even went there but I do remember there was some kind of fair or carnival going on nearby and I stopped to find a restroom (remember I was about 8mo pregnant and my belly was huge! Not much bladder room there) and all I remember is that I parked and walked around people watching at the fair for awhile and then went out to find somewhere to go to the restroom. I was actually in some line at like a box office thing just to ask where a bathroom was and this guy came up to me.
He actually scared me for a minute there because the first thing he said to me was "are you alone?" :scared1:
At first I said no, my husband is over there (pointing in some direction even though my husband was all the way in Texas at the time LOL)
But turned out the reason he asked, is because I was in that line so he thought I was going to buy a ticket and he had an extra ticket he couldn't use so he was giving it away! So then I said yes, I'm really alone -and took the ticket.
I hadn't even HEARD of Cirque Du soleil before.. and had no idea what I had in store for me.
Needless to say I watched the show and was in AWE.
and ever since then, we have gone to every Cirque Du Soleil that has come to Dallas- probably 6 or so in the last 9yrs (I know how many years because my son is 9 LOL). We really look forward to it and fortunately the first time I took my husband, he was apprehensive that he wouldn't enjoy it as much as I did but it turned out he really loves it as much as I do! :) (and it helps that it's the only time we ever get out alone together, I'm sure. LOL)
I just can't wait! We have never been disappointed.. ever. :)

Oh hey,I forgot to mention I noticed on the other thread that they have more colors and more sizes of the disney crocs, especially for adults, available at dickssportingoods.com. Remember to put in the 20% off code DSP20SAVE and for an additional $10 off you can do the google checkout for the first time- with a different email addy each time. It's still free shipping as well. I just wanted to mention I'd seen on the other thread they had more sizes available now and I went to get a pair for myself and Ruby. So now we should all have Disney crocs, except DH.

Yes... you are correct ... Now that you mention it ... I assumed (bad word) that O'BWV means O'BoardWalk Villa's ???? Now I totally get the SWMBO reference... Nothing to do with backwards... mine you that would make a great id!
