One word....Monorail. At WDW this means either the GF or Poly (for us) and at DL it's really a wash, as the GC dumps directly into DCA and the monorail drops direcly into Tomorrowland. No transportation issues, no shuttles, driving or parking - just roll out of bed, grab a coffee, shower and pass and hit the parks

Then there's the total emersion Disney thing, all the small things in the rooms etc. We stayed off property once - never again. They even pipe the music for the fireworks into the concierge lounge at the Poly and into Narcoossee's if you happend to be there at show time.

Normally I ould so agree with you. In fact I figured we would stay at GC (or one of the other resorts) because this will likely be our only time going to DL, ever. However, I found it wasn't worth paying THREE TIMES (atleast) what we'd pay just to be a ways down the street or across the street/etc. If they had like value resorts or something, maybe. But since this is in addition to a LONG cruise which is going to end up being quite costly, cost won out this time.
We'll never stay off property at WDW again though.

ROFL! I can see it now. The kids will all have flats with no heels to get into the park and then change into the 2 inch wedges to ride everything once inside.

Heyyy, how'd you get disney view for the same price ($99) as I got a regular non-disney view? I wonder if I got charged per person because I have 3 children?

Don't worry, HoJo's idea of a view is you can see the Matterhorn and the top of the Space Mountain building. Don't forget it is across the street and set back by the freeway so you would never have the view you would have from a DL hotel.

No you cannot use an AP to get in DL. Just like DL APs are not good at WDW. You can however use non expired WDW park hoppers to get in to DL. But it doesn't work the other way around.

I wondered the same thing ... I was charged originally 89 for a non-disney view, and then for $10 more got the view. Your extra 10 must have been for the extra bodies??

I have been told that it is much better becase they have the original movie sets & you can even see them filming shows like DHWs there!!!!

Has anyone thought to do a Warner Brother tour .. If you time it right you can see the Gilmore Girl set (dd favourite show)!

Here's my thoughts on this-- is it possible she had her hair cut off because it has been said lately that she's been doing drugs during her wild nights out, and she IS in the middle of a divorce and custody battle... they can do tests on hair/hair shafts to tell if you've been doing drugs and they can tell a long time afterwards- the only way to avoid that is to cut off every bit of your hair.
Which is what she did.

Makes you wonder... doesn't it?

Thanks for responses. I did run a 2 night stay w/3 day hopper quote for family of four on DL property for 8/15-8/17 this year to get an idea of cost, it came back $1228 at Paradise Pier , this was a "standard view" room. A room only was:

$586 for 2 nights at Paradise Pier
$655 for 2 nights at Disneyland Hotel
$874 for 2 nights at Grand California

Guess I was expecting $150-200 per night, but $300-450 a night really seems pricey for Disney immersion (when we're immersed for 15 nights on cruise), monorail and early admission. I think I'd force my family to stay in the room and enjoy it at that rate. I think we'll stay with the free Sheraton.

That's the prices I was seeing and exactly why I decided I didn't want to stay in a disney hotel quite as bad as I thought. 5-9 times what it would cost elsewhere? I think I'll pass...
