Please don't skim this since my mod hat is on temporarily this morning. :)

OK...good morning everyone first of all. Although the good natured joking around here is fine, there seems to be a lot more posts containing sexual innuendo lately. I know that most of these references are the result of typos that were difficult to resist commenting on and noone has set out to make explicit comments however this has led to threads being closed in the past. We do have to remember that the DIS boards are considered to be a family board. I know that both of my kids will sit with me looking at the pictures but now DS & DD can read and they will ask questions about what something means. Many have posted that their kids also look at the boards with them. I know that this is one thing that I like about the DIS boards. :) Just ask yourself if you would want to explain something read here to your child...no matter what age they are.

Thank you and now back to the fun of catching up from last night!

Ok, time to get moving here. I've got 4 hungry monsters to feed.

Have a good day everyone!

Mary

Morning :goodvibes everyone. Time to go food shopping. Hope everyone is thawing out from this week!

Morning Everyone!:surfweb:

I have been up since 4AM EST. Had to catch up on all the posts. Finally did.

I hope everyone on the east coast is thawing out.

Question out there to anyone who can help - how many days are needed to visit DL and CA. I plan on leaving on the 13th from Norfolk, VA. Will this give me enough time to tour and maybe get some sightseeing in before the cruise?

Also which hotel in or around DL would be a good place to stay? Does DL offer Magical Express? When I go to WDW I never rent a car but use Magical Express and then Disney transportation to the parks and Downtown Disney.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Andrew UK - I heard that story several years ago and everytime I hear it I still chuckle!

Stay warm Everyone!!

The amount of time you spend at DL/CA can vary . . . there are only two parks, unlike WDW, and they are so close that it is easy to hop from one to the other (no buses required). Same for DD, the DL hotels, and lots of hotels just offsite -- you can spend days there and walk everywhere. So you could certainly do both parks, if you organized well, in two days if you wanted, giving you time to see other things in So Cal if you liked.

No Magical Express . . . when we went, we rented a car at the airport and used it to get around (Hollywood, including Universal Studios, DL, and Huntington Beach). I'm sure there are also shuttle services you can use to get to the parks if you don't need a rental car.

Thanks for the picture image. Just what I needed before getting on Amtrak this morning1!! ;)

GOOD LUCK! Remember to use the restroom in the terminal before you board. No matter how scary it is, it has to be better than the one on the train.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa! We don't want the thread closed. It's just really hard to find that line between having fun and offending someone.

Arlene now that all those frozen northerners are gone we can talk about how daggone cold it is here.......

That's it...talk about me while I'm gone.

Day 5 of my icebound captivity.

Day 2 since being snubbed by the tag fairy.

Yup, my Saturday is off to a great start.

Last night, I learned from a friend some very disturbing news......

Were you all aware that Cookie Monster from Sesame Street has undergone an identity change? He is now being referred to as Veggie Monster! Now, I am all for teaching kids healthy eating habits, but come on!

C is for COOKIE....that's good enough for me!

:sad2:

Yeah well my dog seems to have acquired Norwalk or the likes and keeps pooping everywhere. .......no not bricks........picture splats.....

I have shampooed carpets all night.......So my DH puts him outside and forgot about him....He fell asleep(DH)

I go to shut the light off and there is the incredible popcycle dog stuck to my french door.....he is all warm now that mommy cuddled him.......right after I wiped his rear with baby wipes......

I hope your doggie feels better soon.

Have you tried feeding him just rice to help settle his system a little?

:surfweb: Good morning!
I won't even try to catch up from yesterday...2 pirate: s??? At this rate, this thread will probably crash the DISboards server. :rotfl:

Congrats to those who were pixiedust: with a special tag. Boy that Tag Fairy really knows his/her stuff! :lmao:

And, I did catch the post about putting our names in our siggies so as not to be known by our DIS ID.:thumbsup2

:grouphug: to those who are dealing with illnesses in their lives. Thoughts and prayers with you!

:bday: to those celebrating!

Well, off to play ketchup. I don't relish the idea....:rotfl:

Okay, now caught up. I really need to take care of some household duties, now that DH & DS are camping in Valley Forge, PA this weekend. Now only if I can find a way to get rid of inlaws, I will really be happy. I will check back later, hopefully I won't have much to catch up on.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

He will always be the COOKIE MONSTER!

Do you enjoy being "cookie mom"? Gosh where is that darn tag fairy when you need her..........Save me some thin mints.

Good here but we have this cold snap.......if I had wanted cold I would live in Colorado.......This weekend it will be in the 30s.....CAN YOU SAY GLOBAL WARMING EFFECTS.............

I've still got your cookies Judy.;)

Now they associated vegetables with a monster. WHY?

:sad2:

That's just wrong on so many levels.

Cookie Monster's behavior was acutally a good starting point for talking to little kids about impulse control. Even 2 year olds seemed to know that gobbling ALL of the cookies was silly (and therefore not good behavior).

I've never been there but here's what I'm doing.

When I booked our room last month, I was planning to stay for 4 nights. I was figuring 3 days to tour DL and CA and one day to do a LA tour.

Well, after listing all the things we want to do, we just can't fit all into 4 nights. (Disneyland, California Adventure, Universal Studios, Sea World, San Diego Zoo and a LA tour). I'm going call this afternoon to add 2 more nights to our reservation.

When I booked our room, the lady I spoke with said they have several tours/shuttles that depart from their hotel. So getting around shouldn't be a problem.

The people who took the cruise in 2005 said that getting a shuttle from the airport was quite easy and the prices were good.

Laurie

He's still the same ol' Cookie....big blue monster....they are just changing his name. But that does change his whole identity. Who wants to see him stuffing a bunch of carrots into his mouth? No! It has to be chocolate chip cookies....with all of the crumbs flying everywhere.

Remember.......We are planning a DIS Pre Meet at DL on Saturday before the cruise. More to follow.
