Ours was very much like this one. We were in the Mexico Ride at Epcot. We all came out which would be Mark, Myself, Mark's parents, my mom, DS and DD. Well it was during the parade of nations and it was dark out because it was in February. She was about 8 at the time.

Anyway, you know how they have those ropes up that keep the people watching the parade separated from those who are walking?

Well, we got pushed into one of those lanes and the CM's keep telling us to keep walking, not to stop. Well we were all in a one x one line and DD thought she was following Mark. She wasn't.

We realized she was missing and no one remembers who was suppose to be watching her. It was my mom who she was with last.

So we went back to the Mexico ride to see if she was there. They of course said no and we contacted a CM who radioed to everyone else that she was missing. Desciption etc.

Our parents and DS were in a panic so we sent them back to the entrance and we start running like wild people thought the area around Mexico, calling for her. By then we are thinking bad thoughts about what could have happened.

Finally, a CM heard on the radio that a girl was found and was at the first aid area over between the Nations and the Test Track area. We can't pass that area now without thinking about it.

So we of course ran over and there she was. Scared but fine. She still has the Disney pin they gave her when she was there. She had enough smarts to find a CM to tell she was lost and they got her where she needed to be to be found. There was a time lag between all the calls on the radios so that was why it took so long to let us know she was okay.

Also, while we were running around yelling for her Mark found another little girl that was lost and looking for her parents but she didn't speak any English. He was able to get a CM to help her too.

Have to give Disney credit for the way they handled that situation. He will never admit it now but DS was pretty scared she wasn't going to be found.

That was scary....hate to admit how many times we have come close to this too......

Hey you could have traded her in????:lmao: :lmao:

Yeah, I'm really struggling with the whole "kids' show idol" routine. I have always HATED the kids' character shoes with the velcro closures...With a PASSION!!! And I have always SWORN up and down and back again that I WILL NOT allow my children to wear them.
But then I see friends' children wearing them...and these are friends who seemed just as unrelenting and unwavering on the issue as I've always been! And they defend it by saying, "Oh, she wouldn't leave the store without them." OR, "They're so much easier with the velcro..." :headache:

I'm a Stride Rite kinda girl. I think that a good fit and proper support are important in kids' shoes...Am I wrong?!?! :confused3

OK, I'm not sure how I was able to turn this whole discussion into an internal debate in my head about shoe quality...SORRY...:sad2:

Okay----
We have to frequent Stride Rite because my oldest has an extra wide foot.My middle son is always getting Shaq shoes or the likes but my oldest can't ---he is stuck in Stride Rite land....

My daughter did just get a very cute velcro pair which BTW they carry at SR and they look like the new soft side tennies with criss crossing closure. Most comfortable and yet still very good quality shoes. Pink with gray.....

Thoughts,

My Med cruise thread has been going a year longer than this one and has 855 posts, thats about the number of posts this thread moves in a sngle day!.

I should be getting some Pre cruise stuff in the next few weeks for the Med cruise, the people on earlier cruises had received it and started to book shore trips.

Posting in this thread for 2008, when 2007 Cruise is getting closer, and 2008 is cheaper on cruise cost than the Med.

I agree ... The Med cruise (11 days - 8 ports - Cat 10) $1200 more than Panama Repo (15 days - 7 ports - Cat 9) !

It's usually too crowded for me on President's Day. We went last Sunday.

Usually too crowded for us too but the past couple of years it has not been bad. Forecast was for rain on Monday so that should scare a few people off. Have a great time at the Zoo, my boys are 13, 13 and 10 and still enjoy going to the zoo, we go at least once a month but the nice thing is with passes only have to stay a couple of hours!

The shoes...here's what I can tell you about that...

I'm a die-hard stride-rite mom, and a member of the no-velcro-shoes coalition.

You are welcome to come look in DD's closet, where you are bound to find no less than 4 pairs of shoes with velcro closures. WHY? Because that's the ONLY option. If I want stride-rite MaryJanes that don't look like they belong on BRATZ dolls, then I need to accept that they have Velcro closures. In the grand scheme of things, the Velcro is the lesser evil. (On a side note, I seem to be obsessed with Velcro today. I guess I've been icebound in the house too long with the kids and no velcro wall, as we discussed earlier.)

If I venture out of stride-rite, I can find cute MaryJanes that buckle. I bought an adorable pair of leather Cherokee brand ones at Target for a mere $14.99, but the toes looked awful after one wearing, and they were only on the carpeted floor at the school.

Even DD's keds are the Mary-Jane style with the floral velcro closure. At the first quarter parent-teacher conference, DD's kindergarten teacher (who has 36 years of experience) was raving about how much she LOVED those shoes. She declared them to be "cute and practical, and just the sort of thing the kids should be wearing because they can be 100% independant when they need to put shoes off & on." While I was shocked that an educator would endorse velcro over shoe-tying I could see her point--to her it was more important that the kids feel independant & self-confident, and one way to do that was to cut out the stress of shoelaces that consistantly untie.

Ok....off my shoebox.

A lot of the Stride Rite shoes for girls (boys, too) are very cute. I bought DD's shoes there until this year. She loved having tennies with butterflies or flowers that light up when you walk! That beat characters any day.

Mark--

Yours OBVIOUSLY needs to be about DOING TIME IN THE MICKEY JAIL even if you won't tell us the whole story.

Perhaps the TAG Fairy might be able to coerce the story out of me early.

Mark

Judy--

I'm in the Witness Protection Program. :cool2: We don't want the extended family to be onboard to witness our Vacation of a Lifetime.

Thought we were your extended family now ?????
Mark

ETA: Thanks for thinking of me, Judy!

:rolleyes1

We have zoo and DL passes, too. We use the zoo/WAP about 3x a year.

Have a great time. Wave to us as you pass Mission Viejo.

That is still on. :) My kids loved it when they were home & still watch it in the summer. Electric Company anyone?

With all this nostalgia...did I miss the Original Captain?

You people are posting machines. I would have to quit my job to keep up. Of course if I did that I couldn't afford the cruise. Maybe there should be a sub-thread for slow pokes like myself. :)

Well, then I may have to waver my position just a bit then...Those sound really cute! :thumbsup2

I'm just referring to the character shoes from like Payless...
And PLEASE don't get me wrong. I can totally understand the need for inexpensive shoes (my sister is a single mom, and she struggles to put food on the table, so she can't very well afford to pay a lot for shoes!)
But I think if you're ABLE to spend a little more money on kids' shoes, it's SO worth it to buy ones that will fit them properly and give them the right support!

Mark--

Yeah, the DIS is my extended family--crazy Aunts & Uncles included.

The Witness Protection Program is to keep me hidden from the in-laws. :cool2:

OK, on this whole children shoe discussion, DS(2) gets his shoes (stride-right) at Nordstrums. They will replace the shoes for like 6 months even if he grows out of them... Really good customer service

:figment:
