OK, so I need to say that I in no way was trying to offend anyone with the shoe thing...
I guess my main train of thought was "If my friends who have kids have given in and bought the character shoes, will I give in too eventually when I have a child?"

I mean, I feel pretty strongly about my child wearing only Stride Rite, but I also at one time said that I was ONLY going to clothe my child in Gymboree and Baby Gap!

Yes, you will eventually give in, but it won't feel like you are selling out when it happens.


FWIW, Gymboree isn't nearly as cute as it was a few years ago....you know...back before I started spending money on Disney cruises.

Ya know, my son's fave pair of shoes are his croc's!!!

In the summer, my kids live in the Lands' End trail sandals. I just realized they have velcro closures, too.

Yep & I said I was never going to buy my DD those sleazy dolls, but she's 12 now & guess what...she has plenty of them. I also swore I'd never buy my DS a toy gun, but when he started using his blocks to build his own guns, I thought, "Why do I bother?" Every parent has their own convictions about what's best for their child & there's nothing wrong with that.

Well, 2 or 3 years from now when you see me around with that kid who's wearing the Dora shoes (because I think I'm resigning to the fac that eventually I will cave in)... , you can all say laugh and say, "See? It was just easier than fighting about it, wasn't it?"
