DS came in crying a little while ago. He has a big bruise/burn on his head that is turning into a goose egg along with some scrapes on his hands. They were playing soccer & two of them ran into each other. He ended up falling head first onto the pavement. :( I guess that it is roadburn then. :( He is sleepy and his pupils aren't dialating unless I shine a flashlight right at them. He didn't say much for almost 20 minutes but now he wants to play his GBA. I guess if he can see that well enough to play, he is ok. OY! If it's not one thing it is another. I had to pull up WebMD to see if I should take him to the clinic or not. I already warned him that I am going to be waking him up a lot tonight.

Lisa--I hope he's okay....that sounds scary!

I love the pictures of the pets. I am a pet lover (espcially dogs)

I've breaking ice (not snow) out to my car so I can hit the road tomorrow:confused3

Hearing all the stories about flying problems yesterday, I thought you all would enjoy this. Hope it is okay to post.

Just in case you need a laugh:

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget

Laura, Thank you so much for posting this! My DW had one of those airport horror stories yesterday. (Thanks everyone for listening to me whine all day.) The two of us were literally crying we were laughing so hard.

Wow! I'm having visions of our future! DS (19 months) is turing into little Mr. Independent. One thing that he can't abide is an open door! Or open anything for that matter...doors, drawers, the dishwasher...all have to be closed up--no matter that I'm putting dishes into the dishwasher! :rotfl: Nope, close that sucker up. So when we were going into the house, I got him out of his seat but left the car door open. Well I put him down (mistake) at the front door while I got the key ready and the next thing I know he LEAPS off the porch--forgetting that there are two steps down--to go close the car door! :eek: SPLAT! right onto the pavement, face first!

Target had these t-***** on sale and I'm gonna get him one :rolleyes:

Speaking of good books ----
Anyone read the Disney endorsed book also by Ridley Pearson (Peter and the Starcatchers) called "Kingdom Keepers"?
I have only seen it at DTD but it is really good for that 8-12 crowd. Although I have to say I read it and found it to be very well done. It is about these kids who when they fall asleep at night they end up in the Magic Kingdom and have to go through all the secret passageways and solve a mystery.

I read that one first, then bought Peter and the Starcatchers. Very good book as well!

Gee, Another Laura on this cruise? I must have missed that. What's her screen name? I am really bad with names and have been only going by our screen names except for the few I can remember. :confused: :confused:

Sorry fellow swabbies, but I have to run out for a bit, I'm afraid I'm going to miss the pirate: run for 22,000.

Have fun and steal one for the gipper!!!!!:rotfl2:

Speaking of Dogs, that's my Rosee in my Avatar ... We lost her to Cancer in September. We still have her Uncle, Budde, who is adjusting but is still very clingy!

Here are some conversations that airline passengers normally will never hear. The following are accounts of actual exchanges between airline pilots and control towers from around the world:

===============
While taxiing at London Gatwick, the crew of a USAir flight departing for Ft. Lauderdale made a wrong turn and came nose to nose with a United 727. An irate female ground controller lashed out at the USAir crew, screaming: "US Air 2771, where are you going?! I told you to turn right onto Charlie taxiway! You turned right on Delta! Stop right there. I know it's difficult for you to tell the difference between C' and D', but get it right!" Continuing her rage to the embarrassed crew, she was now shouting hysterically: "Now you've screwed everything up! It'll take forever to sort this out! You stay right there and don't move till I tell you to! You can expect progressive taxi instructions in about half an hour and I want you to go exactly where I tell you, when I tell you, and how I tell you! You got that, US Air 2771?"

"Yes, ma'am," the humbled crew responded.

Naturally, the ground control communications frequency fell terribly silent after the verbal bashing of US Air 2771. Nobody wanted to chance engaging the irate ground controller in her current state of mind. Tension in every cockpit out in Gatwick was definitely running high.
Just then an unknown pilot broke the silence and keyed his microphone, asking: "Wasn't I married to you once?"

===============
Tower: "Eastern 702, cleared for takeoff, contact Departure on frequency 1247"
Eastern 702: "Tower, Eastern 702 switching to Departure. By the way, after we lifted off we saw some kind of dead animal on the far end of the runway."
Tower: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff behind Eastern 702, contact Departure on frequency 1247. Did you copy that report from Eastern 702?"
Continental 635: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff, roger; and yes, we copied Eastern ... we've already notified our caterers"

===============
The German air controllers at Frankfurt Airport are renowned as a short-tempered lot. They not only expect one to know one's gate parking location, but how to get there without any assistance from them. So it was with some amusement that we (a Pan Am 747) listened to the following exchange between Frankfurt ground control and a British Airways 747, call sign Speedbird 206:
Speedbird 206: "Frankfurt, Speedbird 206 clear of active runway."
Ground: "Speedbird 206. Taxi to gate Alpha One-Seven."
The BA 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and slowed to a stop.
Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are going?"
Speedbird 206: "Stand by, Ground, I'm looking up our gate location now."
Ground (with quite arrogant impatience): "Speedbird 206, have you not been to Frankfurt before?"
Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, twice in 1944 but I didn't stop."

===============
O'Hare Approach Control to a 747: "United 329 heavy, your traffic is a Fokker, one o'clock, three miles, eastbound."
United 239: "Approach, I've always wanted to say this... I've got the little Fokker in sight."

===============
A Pan Am 727 flight waiting for start clearance in Munich overheard the following:
Lufthansa (in German): "Ground, what is our start clearance time?"
Ground (in English): "If you want an answer you must speak in English."
Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying a German airplane, in Germany. Why must I speak English?"
Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent): "Because you lost the bloody war!"

:laughing:

One day the pilot of a Cherokee 180 was told by the tower to hold short of the active runway while a DC-8 landed. The DC-8 landed, rolled out, turned around, and taxied back past the Cherokee. Some quick-witted comedian in the DC-8 crew got on the radio and said, "What a cute little plane. Did you make it all by yourself?"

The Cherokee pilot, not about to let the insult go by, came back with a real zinger: "I made it out of DC-8 parts. Another landing like yours and I'll have enough parts for another one."

*********************************************************

Tower: "TWA 2341, for noise abatement turn right 45 Degrees."

TWA 2341: "Center, we are at 35,000 feet. How much noise can we make up here?"

Tower: "Sir, have you ever heard the noise a 747 makes when it hits a 727?"
*********************************************************

From an unknown aircraft waiting in a very long takeoff queue: "I'm f...ing bored!"

Ground Traffic Control: "Last aircraft transmitting, identify yourself immediately!"

Unknown aircraft: "I said I was f..ing bored, not f...ing stupid!"

Do you happen to work for the largest drug company in the world??? :confused3 My son is a microbiolgist for them. He is in India but was in NJ two weeks ago. He lives in Kalamazoo,Michigan.

I'm on the animal health side of the industry. We are either the number 1 or 2 animal health company depending on what time of day it is. I've never traveled to India, yet. There is some talk of it for this year. (Rack up those FF miles!!!!:thumbsup2 )

Yup! It wouldn't have been so bad if someone there knew what they were talking about. Anyway, the important thing is that she's home safe. The fact that her boss is ticked off that she has to do some work is just icing on the cake!
