Good Morning All! Good Afternoon Andrew!

Finally caught up from last night.

Still no room assignment for us either. Will wait and hope. DW getting a bit nervous.:sad2:

Thanks Bellinus & GoofyontheSeas for the DL info! :thumbsup2

De nada . . . I'm not an expert on DL by any means but had a blast while there last June . . . we may be going to DL again after Christmas this year and then on to Vegas, so maybe I will have even more info before summer of 2008. However, there are plenty of LA-area people who know far more than I do.

Hello Everyone,
Just checking in , my family and I will be cruising with you nuts. I read all the recaps and I must say I am still a bit lost, amused, yes, but still way out of the loop. Checking in with this thread will really help with wait though! :goodvibes
Thanks for the laughs!

I did that in high school.Mount Rushmore For some strange reason, I really wanted jump out of George Washington's nose with a green parachute.

Anyway, when we finally got there, it didn't look any different than it did in the movies, pictures, tv, etc., etc., etc. I was disappointed but then again, I was a teenager at the time.

Cheers!

Jennifer

I am afraid to be disappointed too. When I first saw the pyramids in Egypt I thought to myself, boy they aren't very pretty looking.

'mornin, all :surfweb:
Everyone was pretty quiet last night. It didn't take me long to catch up. Plus I've been honing my speedreading skills for about 3 weeks now!

Rugby? Tempting, but I think we'll pass on that one. I've never even made it to Serenity Bay. For some reason my kids aren't thrilled with the kid's club on CC, so we stick to the family beach. I'll get there someday - just don't know when. I had a good friend who played in college, so I went to a lot of games and I actually sorta 'get' the play. My brother played in college too.

But then there is the lure of free beverages . . .

My pirate name is:
Captain Ethel Flint

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky.

Here that? I'm easily chipped, take it easy.
What's up with the name ETHEL? That doesn't sound piratey to me. :rolleyes1

Sparky? Yeah, I think I see it.

We're talking about doing Mt. Rushmore this summer, too. We had a 14-day trip from Chicago out to Yellowstone and back mapped out, but now are rethinking it due to having to pay for a certain trip with the mouse.

But I said the same thing to my wife when we were planning -- how long do you think we need to spend at Mt. Rushmore? I mean, once you've seen the rock, how much more is it. It's kind of like when we went to DC. We spent like 15 minutes are the monuments each. They are nice and all, but in the end, they are just a bunch of granite and limestone.

Would anyone like to hear a TOTALLY GROSS Amtrak story??

Yes? Good...

Me & DH (pre-kids) took Amtrak to FLA (I hate to fly). Made the mistake of going coach (no bed) Well I used the facilities in the Bar Car. The bathroom has that silver port-a-potty type setup. Went No. 1 turned around as the flusher was a push-button type thing on the wall behind the toilet. Pushed the button. The silver trap door opened and instead of sucking stuff OUT, it spewed stuff out - ALL OVER ME. I can get much more graphic but I won't. Just remember one important fact. I was in THE BAR CAR, and I had to wash all the stuff off of me and OUT OF MY HAIR in the sink! By the time I finally hit our hotel in Orlando, I had the SHOWER OF MY LIFE!

I hold this as one of the most embarrasing moments of my life :rotfl: :rotfl: But I can laugh about it................now that is!

Ummmm.... YUCK!!! :scared: :headache: :crazy2:

You know, the more I think about this whole room thing, I keep coming up with various ideas. My current one is that DCL is assigning a small number of staterooms everyday until they reach their normal threshold for GTY status. I don't think that there is any rhyme to reason to who is getting assigned (DCL vs TA, first vs. last) it is more luck of the draw.

I believe DCL is just doing it to mess with the minds of DIS readers. They give one person per day a stateroom, which causes DIS readers to get all excited and run off to check their reservations and then come back all gloomy.

Or am I just paranoid?

Good afternoon.

Sorry about no room assisgment, I read conflicting reports, but in the main no one really has had anything recently, the odd T/A seems to be reallocating
rooms assigned and not taken up, but nothing wholesale as a T/A was reported to say.

Wish you the best.

We did that trip the last time we were wandering the country homeless (2004). We spent about 5-6 hours at Mt. Rushmore. There are few hikes (more like walks) of various distances. We took the longest one. It was interesting to see (and photograph) the carvings from different perspectives. Very close to Mt. R is the Crazy Horse monument. Basically this guy and a bunch of his children are working on cutting Crazy Horse (& his horse) into a mountain. It was very cool to see the work in progress & the visitor center was very interesting. We visited both places the same day.

I loved Yellowstone! We were there for 5 days & there are still many more things I would like to go back & see. If you plan to stay in the park, get your reservation in NOW! We were there in June & I was waitlisted for a room when I called in early March for a reservation. I still shoot a lot of my scenery pics on film, but I can try to scan some in to post.
