Another cloudy, cold day in Baltimore. It's so cold outside that the windows in my office are radiating the cold and my feet are freezing! I know .... turn on a heater!

They are calling for snow and ice tonight so I'm preparing to stay home tomorrow and "work" (DIS really)
:lmao:

I am watching your weather - Dh is down there again for two days - hoping he won't have a problem getting home tomorrow night!!!!:)

Finally getting back online. :yay:

It was a balmy 45* here today, so I worked through my breaks and lunch to get the 135 curb meters done today that I couldn't get done last week. I also got started on the curb meters for this week since we are expecting bad weather over the next few days.

Now to go back and see what I missed today on the thread. :rolleyes1

Wow - she want's MORE homework? That's amazing!

She wants to get very very smart because she has a big brain. :goodvibes

In regards to that, she is right. It has come up when the kids are bickering about who is ..... or who is the better at ...... When she was born her head was in the 100% range. At 4 months they did a cscan to make sure that nothing was wrong...and it wasn't...she just has a big head...though you can't tell by just looking at her. When we went to WDW when she was 3 DS got the youth ears but DD needed the adult size for it to fit right. The most annoying thing about it is that it is difficult to get clothes that pull over her head to go on easily. They fit her well once they are on but most sweaters need to be stretched at the neck to help loosen them up a bit so they don't sqeeze her head too much. Anyhow, one thing I found out when researching before the cscan is that there are a lot of people with big heads and their IQs tend to be high. So, DD wants to fill up her big brain with lots of stuff in school to help her be smarter. ;)

Afternoon Andy. Glad the weather worked out in your favor today. :thumbsup2

If the Captain was going to make me walk the plank for putting his logo on a lime green background, I can only imagine his response to this. You may want to practice playing hide-and-seek.

I actually DID make a banner on a lime green background using "his" banner... but it was too big and Lisa asked that I shrink the banner or use one of the premade ones... so I was sort of lazy at the time and just settled on using a premade one....

SO - if it's to be the plank... I'm ready... but have you considered that our illustrious Captain might like the novel artistic "concept" I've exercised???

OMG that is so true!
What you said could have described my son to the letter. (and ofcourse he and his big head had to be the only baby I DID NOT deliver by c-section. God has a sense of humor apparently!)
Head also huge at birth.
Testing done to make sure it wasn't a problem causing the head to be so big.
Also wore adult sized hats (including at WDW) since he was very young.
Still difficult to put shirts on- although he doesn't look quite like charlie brown anymore, his body is growing into his head a bit. (catching up with it anyway)(

He's always loved school, very verbally eloquent at a young age (although all my kids were and that's probably because I talk a lot- atleast that's what DH says!), always full of questions and never seems to want to stop filling up that big brain- recently we found out thru testing that he does have a high IQ.

What's funny is that we (and other relatives) have said that same sentence in the past: He wants to get very very smart because she has a big brain. (or other versions of it- such as he wants to learn a lot so his brain can grow to fill up that big head. :rotfl:

I'm so glad she is feeling better/enough to go to school. :)

Now, I don't want as much as they've had in upstate NY, but I could settle for a good 6-12 inches...I wanna make a snowman!! :thumbsup2
(plus, this job and my boss are REALLY grating on my last nerve, so I could use a day or 2 off work due to the snow...:lmao: )

We only close if civil authorities declare a state of emergency...that or if the area military facilities start closing then that's pretty much an indicator that it is REALLY bad out! Besides, we all have laptops and access tokens for the VPN netork :p

Ikea is five miles from my house. We just go there to eat their Swedish Meatballs.:rotfl2: If you drive up, you may never get home.:confused3

ikea_01_1.jpg

The nearest Ikea is about 45 miles away...

.... otherwise having had this before - I'd say it's not a bad snack for lunch.... speaking of which - I'm just about done - and now if you'll excuse me - I've gotta run...

Wow... they allow you to have heaters???

And you stay home in the snow?????

I am SO jealous! Any chance you'll be transferred to NNE in June??? ;)

Well, to clarify, our office doesn't close per se due to snow...but for some reason, aside from the "big streets" near where I live, my neighborhood NEVER gets plowed or salted. So when we get any significant accumulation at all, I tend to get stuck on our street because I drive a rear-wheel drive pickup that does not do well at all on ice or snow...and I would GLADLY take public transportation, but the trains and busses only come within 2 miles of where I work. AND, I work in a not-so-great area of the city, a block from a medium security prison so I don't do any walking here alone...So after all of those excuses, to make a long story short...I usually take a personal day...:lmao:

That's so funny - my DS was in the 100% range for everything when he was born, the nurses in the hospital asked me how late I was and I told them I was actually a week early. They couldn't believe it, especially since I was bad and smoked while pregnant. My doctor said that if I hadn't smoked he would of been about 20-25% larger!

I keep hoping and hoping that someday they will open one here in St. Louis, but alas, the nearest one to me is Chicago, about 5 hours away...and that's a LONG way to drive for meatballs...:lmao:

So I generally make a quick weekend out of it...

My office does close occassionaly but not often. However, I live on a hill that doesn't get plowed or salted until after everthing else is done, so I too take the day off. I'm pretty lucky tho, my boss doesn't usually charge me for it because he knows where I live and how dangerous it is in bad weather.

Someone mentioned Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA a few pages back. As far as I know, they plan to shut down....something about alot of gang violence in the area. Not sure if they are still open right now, but they probably won't be by the time our cruise comes around.

About hotels near DL....a few years ago, we went to a conference there. We registered late and all the good hotels were booked solid so we stayed at the Park Place Best Western which is directly across the street from the entrance plaza to both parks. It wasn't fancy, but it was clean, very inexpensive, and included a free hot breakfast at the restaurant next door. For the price and convenience, you can't beat it. You could even purchase your theme park tickets at the hotel desk and avoid the lines at the DL ticket booths. For those on a budget, it would be a good alternative to the pricier DL hotels.

:goodvibes My DDs head (which has affectionately been dubbed a 'bubble' head) was also very near to the 100% range. Our pediatrician wasn't too concerned about it at all. Now at 7, almost 8, it still stays in the 100% range. We never once discussed doing a Cscan for any reason. I think in part it has to do with her head is almost perfectly round. And we've given up on turtle necks and certain styles of sweaters...just too much hassle to get on or off. And now that her ears are piereced, too hazardous. She absolutely loves school and has been an A student, except for conduct. She gets very blabby at times, which DH points out is a trait of mine. ;) I do like to point out to her though, that as much as she brags about having such a big brain, that I expect her to use it more to remember things like feeding the dog, cleaning her room, etc. :rotfl2:

This sounds like my dd....she is also in first grade. She loves to do homework! I know this won't last long.....

Keep your fingers crossed. My DD was the same way and still is. She's now in 2nd grade and is constantly playing school with her dolls and stuffies. DH and I are subjected to math fact tests on a daily basis! :rotfl2:

Just checking in.........

We were suffering bad withdrawal symptoms after disembarking from the Wonder's 11-night southern cruise last year, so this time we're dragging the 'other' set of Grandparents along for the EB Panama Repo :cool1:

We have two Cat-4 GTY's: Susan, Andy (me) and Sarah (7 at time of cruise) in one, Greemaw and Grass (Grandparents) in the other.

We're headed to Disneyland a week Friday, to get a quick Disney fix.

Andy
