What do you mean by that? They will let me switch to a different room that opens up?

Sorry, if I wasnt very clear, if you are still a GTY when the 90 day pay up date is passed, ( and I hope its settled well before that), but if,
When Disney knows the cancellations, and there locations, they will then set the task of allocating all the cruisers on GTY a numbered room, this will suddently appear on your ressie.

You will not be given a few to choose from, but can of course contact DCL or your T/a IF you are unhappy.

I hope it comes out well for you.

And why is it that Schaumburg Twp. cannot clear their roads? I drove all the way from Bolingbrook to Schaumburg this morning, then from Schaumburg to Arlington Heights, and the ONLY snow-covered roads I encountered were Schaumburg Road and Roselle Road. Is Woodfield Mall not bringing in enough money any more?

Yes, but the village does not share their wealth. Schaumburg Road is a township road so the village does not plow it. :rolleyes1 We do pay nothing to our village so how can we complain when we do not pay for the service.:confused3 Our taxes are extremely low.:thumbsup2 What can I say but I will be moving to Florida in 5 years and will not have to worry about the snow.:woohoo:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I think you need to repaint it DIS green!;)

I am sure they will try their best Thats why I consider, there will be a delay, as they will try to complete everyones requests before allocating, hope it all comes good for you with rooms close together. Another poster said that they had herd DCL will allocate this weekend, hasnt hapened so far, as to peoples posts, but lets all hope.

I don't share your faith in the Mouse, mainly b/c I had two rooms "linked" in December (booked both at the same time) and found out later on they were not linked together. (We learned this when we got the letter from DCL saying I could book 90 days out but my wife could only book 75 days out.) Somewhere along the way, Disney had lost the connection between the two rooms.

If the Captain was going to make me walk the plank for putting his logo on a lime green background, I can only imagine his response to this. You may want to practice playing hide-and-seek.

Getting back to the DLR hotel question, one major variable I haven't seen yet mentioned is the renovation plan they have for DLH and GCH in particular. For example, here is MouseInfo.com's Disney insider, Marcie, on DLH in 08:

At the current time there are plans for a 3 year renovation project at the DLH that will begin around August. When you book your room you should check to see where the progress is with the renovation. You maybe lucky in [August] of 2008 to stay in one of the new rooms.

Also, there are some serious plans to take the 3 tower's simple semi-modern, but outdated, look and theme it out to a more Disney-friendly look that will more closely tie the hotel to Disneyland park. If the plans get approved the DLH will not look like it does today. In fact it will be quite amazing.

These are some major plans that don't call for simplying repainting the 3 towers.

Then Al Lutz on Miceage.com has advanced the plan for GCH renovations, which would include the addition of DVC rooms:

This new addition will add almost 300 new rooms and suites to the hotel, as well as 50 DVC units for members to use. That's a modest beginning, to be sure, but you don't think Disney installed a DVC cart every 50 yards in Anaheim for just 50 units do you? Of course they didn't, but they are going to start slow and build from there. Just the fact that they are finally building dedicated DVC units in Anaheim is enough, and there will be more to follow as the DCA expansion project takes hold later this decade. The look of the new wing of the Grand Californian should blend fairly seamlessly into the original hotel, although there will be plenty of construction noise and inconvenience for hotel guests for the next few years.

So the bottom line is that depending on your luck, you could get a newly renovated room or one that feels like it is in the middle of a construction project.

See what you mean that isnt good on their side.

All you can say is check recheck and then check again with them to avoid them making a mistake.

Oh, yeah. Like I said before, I am 'concerned', not 'worried'. When we alerted DCL to their mistake, they fixed it immediately. I expect that if they assign us to rooms on different decks that they will try to make it right before we have to cancel. (Not sure if we would cancel or not, but we'd have to think about it).

And I agree that even having a stateroom assignment doesn't mean anything. We almost had an entire cruise cancelled due to Norovirus (we sailed on the one just after the one that was cancelled in 2002).

I know people will cancel and rooms will open up and eventually we will all being enjoying a Konk Kooler or two or a dozen on CC.

But I am still going to be checking my reservation once a week.

Sometimes it pays to not go to the "expensive" hotels.

Well as I said hope they sort it out for you, and the many who are on GTY it is a lot on this cruise, so all the best to all.

I wish I only checked my ressie once a week, I really do suffer from OCPD - I check daily, sometimes two or three times a day! I don't know what I'm going to do in May when I will be MIA for 5 days :scared1: !

I'm too forgetful to be obsessive-compulsive. I've been meaning to call the repair guy about the part for my TV for about a week. I keep forgetting to call.

yes, but will the DLH become one of the 'expensive' hotels AFTER the renovations?

Yes I read about the work on GCH recently I stayed there last time wasnt sure if to move to DLH, but seems both might have work.

The GCH is on one wing only so hopefully can limit the inconvience.

Thanks for reminding me - I forgot to order Joe's birthday cake!

I'm actually OC for certain things, one of them is trip planning.

I figured I would drop a quick hello this afternoon, since I was away from the boards all weekend. Hope everyone is having a decent Monday...We're hearing about a good possibility of some snow tonight/tomorrow like some of you were mentioning earlier, and I personally am hoping for A LOT!!! I just feel like we haven't gotten enough snow yet this year. Now, I don't want as much as they've had in upstate NY, but I could settle for a good 6-12 inches...I wanna make a snowman!! :thumbsup2
(plus, this job and my boss are REALLY grating on my last nerve, so I could use a day or 2 off work due to the snow...:lmao: )
