Rugby is very hi impact like American football except no helmet or pads and whom ever has the ball is fair game

My pirate name is: Mad Dog Flint

Part crazy, part mangy, all rabid, you're the pirate all the others fear might just snap soon. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

When you say pinewood derby is it the little pinewood derby cars they make, or the kind they get INTO like someone showed a picture previously on this thread?

If you mean the ones they make and race (way too tiny for them to get into physically- like model car sized), Robert does that with Boy Scouts here too. Last year he won 1st place for Tigers (or was it wolf), 2nd place overall. This year he won 2nd place bear... I think he's a bear now. I get all confused the order of the animals. LOL

Yes the Scout Pinewood cars, the lil ones that they make.
It goes Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Jr Weblo Sr Weblo goes along with 1st grade, 2nd,3rd etc etc

Those are some pretty wicked coasters, but how about these at Magic Mountain in Los Angeles (well Valencia really). Any coaster enthusiasts who are planning a few days at DL prior to the cruise should consider a trip to Magic Mountain as well. It's about 1 1/2 drive (could be less without traffic).

Just opened this year...Tatsu

After riding this, my son and I declared Tatsu our new curse word.

Then there's X the Xtreme Coaster....can't really describe this one, like nothing I've ever riden.

Cool...We are hoping to squeeze in DL before, but thanks for the tip!

Anyone know if the DL area hotels offer shuttle/tour packages to the other area attractions?

I'm thinking of skipping the LA tour and going with another theme park (Magic Moutain:confused3 )Sea World, or the San Diego Zoo.

My pirate name is:
Captain Jack Rackham

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

I be: Dread Pirate Vane

Good Morning, everyone!

Looks like I'm not the only one researching DisneyLand plans.

Does anyone know which of the 3 Disney hotels is most convenient to both parks?

Which is most convenient to DL? (Either walking or transit)

Thanks!

Good Morning Everyone!:surfweb:

I saw that we were nine down so I am adding my two cents to keep us on top!

I read a few pages back regarding DL hotels. I am perplexed as to where to stay. At WDW I neve have an issue. I use the Magical Express to get to the hotel and Disney Transportation to get to the parks and Downtown Disney. We plan on going out a few days earlier like the 13th so I am assuming I will be renting a car. Does Disney offer transportation to DL hotels. Is the walk not to far to the parks. Also, isa Disney providing transportation to the port or do we have to find our own way.

The Disneyland Hotel sounds nice but so do the other too.
Can anyone give me some info on what to do.

Thanks!

We were at the DLH this past June . . . I was amazed at how compact DL is compared to WDW . . . really you could walk anywhere. There is a monorail station in Downtown Disney near the DLH that takes you directly into Tomorrowland but you could also walk through DD and get to the front entrances to DL and CA (which are directly across from each other). We had a rental car but did not use it at all during our 5 days at DL . . . I would turn the rental car in the next time I go.

If you are at Grand Californian you could walk through a special entrance directly into CA near Grizzly run, or you could walk the other way into DD and be at the front entrance to DL within a few minutes.

I don't know about the actual walking distances from off-site hotels, but they certainly are everywhere surrounding the parks.

Yeah, so I had the animals right. Well sorta, it was wolf last year/bear now. I'm not sure why I get the animals confused since I'm the one buying all the uniform and book stuff every year. LOL

From the "little" bit I've seen of it on TV, it sure looks that way!!!

Okay the comments about rugby have me a bit scared to let my Jeffrey participate! He's not that spry anymore- we don't need an injured "daddy-man" (another nickname).
:scared1:

No, it actually runs from an area closer to DLH in DTD. It does not stop at the Grand. It is still a 5 min walk from the Monorail to DLH. It is a 5 min walk from the parks to the Grand.
Thanks for that info.
Seems that monorail system is totally pointless, IMO.

For the new folks trying to get there pirates name

http://www.piratequiz.com/

and for the decal/magnetic paper

http://www.decalpaper.com/magnetic-decalpaper.html

My pirate name is:
Captain Ethel Flint

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky.

Here that? I'm easily chipped, take it easy.
What's up with the name ETHEL? That doesn't sound piratey to me. :rolleyes1

I swear! If we ever have a regular noneventful morning I don't think that I would know what to do. Last night when I went up to bed I smelled something upstairs. I checked DS and his bed was clean so I moved DD to her bed and went to sleep. At 2:30 she woke me up saying that she needed help wiping her butt. Apparently she slept very soundly and woke up a couple hours later with a mess. I had to go get her diaper rash ointment this morning since I don't keep it around anymore. I am letting her get some relief before she goes to school. She doesn't feel sick and there is no fever so I am just guessing she was finally going to sleep thru the night. :(

Actually, if you are planning to go to DL and go immediately on rides, particularly in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland (since the monorail leaves you in the middle of Tomorrowland), by using the monorail you can save a lot of time not having to go to the front of the park, going through long lines, and heading back to those areas . . . it also gives you a great view as you go past CA park. However, you are right in that the monorail isn't crucial as it is at WDW. You can get around perfectly fine on foot.

GC is awesome, we stayed there in 2005 when we did the Mexican Riviera cruise, we will probably stay there again. Convenient to everything and we had a room overlooking California Adventure - practically walk out your door and everything is right there. Great hotel, reminds of WL in WDW.

We were also able to find an excellent limo service when we were there, and we still have the info. I will get the info from DH and post if anyone is interested. (after a bad experience with DH driving in Baltimore - which we were already a little familiar with - the last thing we will be doing in LA is driving!!!!)

Debi

Debi: thank you so much!!!

with this so far out - we aren't sure, but if we don't do transfers (or the organized bus) we will definitely be looking for a limo service!!!:)

Oh no! Poor baby girl.... I hope she's feeling good enough to go to school. I know what you mean about you wouldn't know what to do if you had a regular noneventful morning, day, afternoon, evening, night. :lmao: Boy do I.

Yes Fairfield is across the street. I'd say that yes the Courtyard is probably 2 blocks, but we're talking 1/2 mile blocks....ok seriously not that long, but really long blocks.

Also forgot to say on my previous post that I have stayed at Fairfield and would stay there again. Except I can usually get better rates elsewhere at places that offer a free continental breakfast, FF doesn't.

If your staying on frequent flyer points, consider the Residence Inn in Garden Grove. It's down the street from DL too far to walk but they do have their own (or maybe shared with 1 other hotel) shuttle and you get the hot breakfast. Haven't stayed there, but it always gets good reviews.

Thanks! It is Marriot rewards so I will have to look into the other hotels they have. I was kind of splurging with the points but if there is a lower category with a shuttle that would be a plus.
