Man - 20K for a cat 9...are we sure we can't ebay our cabins?

Yes it did go for over $20k in my memory.

Also Thank you for the booked recommendations I tried to post earlier but my internet browser went down, but remember DCL gave a free book on TPC last time a few days before TPC so you could read up on it.

Yes it was in January 2005!! If you were on Deck 9 either before or after bingo that day, we were the red-eyed girls that the band referenced. ;)

I know so many people were upset over that cruise and that a lot of letters were sent to DCL complaining, etc. Um, hello.. you booked a cruise!! That means you're out on the ocean. Duh! Reason would follow that weather might play into where you get to go. If I didn't want to miss certain locations, I certainly wouldn't be booking a cruise! My friends and I just sat in the lobby that evening laughing and laughing at the people. We even nicknamed one of the worst couples, Mr. & Mrs. Craba**.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
If you ask me, I don't know if the free booze was a good idea. Let's pretend that you have a bunch of ticked off people missing 2 ports with rocky seas, and then add their sense of entitlement and you get DISASTER!:confused3

My wife is in Charlotte, NC and I am in Illinois. Really nothing better to do but post. Except maybe work.... Nah.

I can relate!!!!!

Last year that was me. DH was in DC & MD most of the year while we were back home in NC. Not fun with the kids. :( That ended in September and we have just gotten back to "normal" around here over the past month. :guilty: Both kids took it very hard in different ways. I am glad that DS is so comfortable with the counselor at school.

Hmm....that will make the "Bring a Bottle of your Local Area wine for a Wine & Cheese Party" party a bit more complicated.

If anyone is still interested in a Wine & Cheese party, I bet we could do one by picking 2-3 varieties of wine & asking each participant to bring a bottle. Then we could compare the different vinyard's interpretations of each varietal.

Or, is that too darned educational for a vacation?

We could compare California wines with Oregan or Washington State.. LOL

We really do need to find out if the port will let us bring bottles on board or if we need to smuggle the wine/et al in our luggage..

and cases of water..Iknow, I know ...priorities!!!!:lmao:

I don't mind paying for drinks, but I totally hate paying the price they charge for a case of water..the three of us (especially DD, of course))go through more water than we will drinks!!! Last cruise we carried on two cases - only used one and were still ahead cost wise!!! I ended up giving into DD having soda more than I normally would......

Except me. I have pulled over CMs when I see a diapered child in the pool. Yes, I am also the guy who throws away towels I see on chairs for an hour with no one in them if I need a seat.

:thumbsup2 When in Rome.... :thumbsup2

Glad to hear it! I know what it is like to wait for DH to get home from a business trip & the weather doesn't cooperate.

:) Thank you!!!:) I have to say following along on the discussion helped to take my mind off the worry and made the time go faster!!!!:thumbsup2

Interesting PC info I found:

Before the canal, ships journeyed 8,000 nautical miles around the tip of South America.

The initial efforts to actually build a canal across the Isthmus of Panama started with the French in 1880. It would take another 34 years for it to be completed and opened in August 1914.

More than 80,000 people took part in this unprecedented construction project and some 30,000 lost their lives in the endeavor.

The 51-mile waterway has a work force of around 9,000 employees and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing transit to over 14,000 vessels every year. More than two-thirds of these ships are headed to or from the U.S.

The Miraflores Visitors Centre includes four exhibition halls of historical objects on canal operations, interactive modules and video presentations.

Each passage through the canal requires 52 million gallons of freshwater to float the ship through the locks.

Passage tolls through the Canal vary with the size of each ship. On average, a vessel will take between 8 to 10 hours to transit.

New ships are up to 40 feet wider than the canal. Within 10 years most new ships won't fit through the locks.
