It wouldnt matter if we got there or not ...I would just like the Real Content not getting shuffled to the back cause everyone is racing for MINI 's...Thats all ....Its a fun game and when we started it on this thread we said from the get go the Mini's dont count ....Its almost become more important then the actual content of the cruise and that I dont wanna see happen here ..thats all ...Lets just stick to 000's and 10k's ...Lets not make a fuss over the Mini's ....

On a serious note... which do you all think would be better, if we plan on going to DL for a day or two before the cruise... staying on DL property then going to the port on embarkation day or staying on DL property until the night before cruise then staying somewhere closer to the port? I'm not sure of the logistics of how far away DL is from the port to know if it would be worth the effort to stay somewhere closer to the port the night before, or not.

And another question, one that I could probably research on my own but interested in those with experience.. if you were going to DL before the cruise and anticipated this would be the ONLY time you go to DL, which resort would you stay at?

We stayed for 2 nights at PP before the last repo. I chose that one because we stayed on DVC points and it was the cheapest. I forget which of the hotels had the really nice pool area. I am thinking it was DL hotel, but not sure. All 3 hotels were very close together. It really didn't seem like the ride was very long to the port from DL. The one thing that I remember that was great about our stay was that you could check in for the cruise quite a few times, so there was never a waiting issue.

Are there 300+ characters so everyone can participate? I assumed we'd have many duplicates... maybe not of CJS because no one can compare to THAT costume but all these wenches- what are we supposed to do if we can't duplicate characters?

The pool really isn't an issue- close to DL is, and how close to PC will help us decide if we stay at DL hotel or do the last night closer to the PC, but primarily we'll only be sleeping in the hotel since we'll have a short stay to do both parks before the cruise. We can swim to our heart's content for half a month on the cruise!

Hey BBB - DL is about 45-1 hr depending on traffic - Saturdays are usually ok . Long Beach has some pretty hotels and some smaller ones but they can get expensive as they've been pushing for revitalization the last few years.

As for me - The 'closest' hotel is actually The Grand Californian - its very similar to the Wilderness Lodge in WDW - same idea - the newest and most expensive and abutts CA Adventure. We love staying there as its closer to walk to the parks. The Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel are just maybe 3-5 minutes away from Grand CA - and that's walking time BTW. Love the ambiance of Grand CA, DisneyHotel is the original but for me - its sorta spread out and kinda 'cold' but beautiful. Paradise Pier is the oldest but can sleep 5. Not as expensive as the others and but a little older.

Personally I would stay a DL until the morning of the cruise. The port is not in the greatest of neighborhoods and the hotel selection is questionable. You will only be around 40mins at most from DL to port on a Sunday morning. I have stayed at all 3 of the DL hotels. I love the GC, for convenience but alas it is by far the most expensive. DLH is nice but I would choose PP for a nice room and actually closer to DL and CA than DL. PP was recently remodeled and the rooms are nice also the cheapest. All three hotels are within 5-10 min walk so you can utilize all of the restaurants.

What I mean is you wouldnt want 2 Barbossa's cause he only wears one outfit ....Like I said there are many of Characters at different stages of the Movie's , which leaves alot of outfits ....Everyone can Particpate by dressing up as a PIRATE ..duh ... Those that are really into like me and our up for the challenge of doing a detailed costume and want to do a POTC Character are the ones I was refering to ...If you come to the Pirate Party with a scarf and a Patch on to me Thats GREAT , your getting involved ..I am sure we will have Plenty of Wenches and Pirates ...I was speaking to the few not the masses as you implied by saying "300+ Characters " ....But as much as a POTC GEEK , I could probably come up with them....lol

This might be a totally unheard of concept, but the Swabbies can also purchase jewelry. My DH bought a beautiful diamond wedding band on our last trip. I just got a pretty necklace. We even managed not to purchase any more watches . . . Okay, well the DSs both purchased one with $$ from their great Grandma . .

So swabbies . . start talking (or negotiating) with your wenches

Okay, I think I know what you mean now.
I wasn't really thinking of the men's costumes but rather like say if more than one person wanted to wear ES (same type- gold, plum, etc.) dress, that would be duplicating so not allowed? That's what I was thinking you meant.

I'm still not sure if we'll be participating much but if we do, I just didn't want to get in "trouble" for duplicating someone or upsetting them or something. I gotcha now.
