I totally agree. However, we have had teachers that were not so agreeing in our times of travel. One cruise my kids backpacks weighed more than their suitcases. They were both all A students but never recovered from that trip. Even though they did all the homework plus extra credit. The teachers never gave them a break the rest of the year. We were gone for a wedding so it was not our choice when to take the trip as my DH and I were standing up in the wedding.

Thankfully, our school district just changed the school start days to after Labor day for the first time in a very long time, this year.

We are pulling DS out of the 1st 3 days of 2nd grade. We've already asked the principle prior to putting the deposit down. He said definitely go ahead and book the trip. Gotta like that attitude.

This past January when we went on the Western, we were gone for 7 school days. The teacher, who knew for several months, started complaining as the actual trip got closer. We reminder her that she was fine when we told her before school started (they do home visits). We got all the homework done over Xmas break, so we didn't have to take anything with us. She did ask that he keep a journal, but DW and I were fine with that. I think that is actually good for him to do the journal.

It just isn't meant for me to be on the boards today. Every time I try to DIS something comes up. DS woke up with a sore throat so I took him to the doctor. He was cleared of strep so I took him to school at 9:20. I got a call about the school board battle shortly after getting home that lasted a while. Got off the phone, sat down, got a call from the school nurse that DS wasn't feeling well & didn't look good to her. Finished my lunch quickly & picked him up. Ran by the store to pick up the cream for DS's ezema (diagnosis for the rash this morning) and got him settled on the couch to rest. I ended up cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, & vacuuming along with putting the hall closet back together. Picked up DD at the bus stop since DS wasn't with her to walk home. Dealt with that whole business & did more laundry. I have had to stop while typing this post to get DD her dessert. OY! DS is almost finished with his reading & is going to head up to bed early. Maybe then I can convince DD to watch a movie on her DVD player while I watch Lost at 7...because the stupid game was on last night.

I bet there are a lot of DIS'ers that are on this cruise but just haven't sent Lisa their info yet. Our list is probably nowhere near complete!

And lookie at me... moving on up that list. It wasn't long ago I only had like 60 posts. LOL

There are a lot of people who popped in at first when the cruise was announced to say they were interested in it but some of them didn't book.

This is likely to get lost overnight, but I am so excited I had to post. I've been bummed for a few days because my tax refund wasn't come out to nearly what I had expected. I'm doing them online and for some reason the program kept saying I was not eligible for the Child Tax Credit. I knew I was but through their chat and email, I couldn't get any assistance. I was about to do my taxes by hand. But I went question by question one last time. Turns out there was one question that I missed answering about my son. Instead of giving me an error for not answering it, the program just didn't accept him as my dependent. Finally got it to work and my refund is up where it should be. I was afraid I was going to have to cancel my Med Repo or at least drop the DL Paris plans because of this. BIG load off my mind now.

That is great! I hate it when the numbers don't work out.

I was going to say glad DS is better, but sounds like even though the Dr cleared him, he's still not well. You know it's bad when kids put themselves to bed early.

Andrew, we had that on our cruise this past August.. you remember.. But since that cruise was much smaller they had in in Diversions.. it was a nice hors R'oevres buffet.. I am sure since the REPO cruise was so large... with CC members they had it on deck..Its not publicaly announced so someone that is not a CC member woulndt know to go there.. Just my 2 cents..lol

Maybe they will bring back the old CC reception for the repo cruises. I'm not going to go for soda & rice crispie bars.
