Morning all and greetings from SSR. While it's been cool and rainy, it beats being in NJ.
OK on to the dumb question of the morning. How do I insert one of the Pirate icons into by signature. I know cut/paste does not work. I cannot remember how to do this. Thanks!
Kathy...
... it could not be easier...
#1) select one of the pirate banners to rip ... er, rather copy.
FOr example.... I'm gonna "rip" the
Dreams Unlimited image of the Magic/Wonder above.
#2)
RIGHT CLICK on the IMAGE and select
PROPERTIES.
#3) In the center of the pop up window is the web address of the choosen image... the URL.
CLICK AND DRAG TO SELECT this line of code... being careful to select the entire line. Sometimes the line of code is longer then what you can see - because only two lines are typically visable. A dead give away is if the end of the visable line does NOT end in "JPEG" or "GIF" then it generally is not the whole thing. So... to get the whole thing you have to
CLICK and DRAG and sort of gently sweep your insertion point below the visable lines to force it to SCROLL. A third line (or 4th!) will roll into view and should be darkend as selected.
#4) Hold down the control key and tap once or twice the "C" key. This will copy the selected line of code. Now you've got it on your clip board. You may also have the "PAGE" tab at the top right of your winow edge bar (look in the upper right corner. Slect this and there is a copy function too... see the short cut "control C". Same thing here - but it is more effort to do it this way.
#5) Now look at the RED bar above. See the left hand edge of it? See the "user CP" .... click it.
#6) Now look down the left edge vertical bar... see the "edit signature"? Click it.
#7) Now I am sort of guessing as I am not actually doing it. But there should appear a sample of your signature as it currently exists. GO look at the area where the entries are made which created your signature. That is an insertion window/area below the illustrative box showing your signature.
#8) Select the position where you want the new banner to go in your siggy. And at that point type in "
" without my quotation marks. Select the whole thing and hit the "center" button above and "
[/img][/img]
" should appear - except I took out a "/" in the 2nd center.... this is so you can see it - as with the "/" it was centering the line.
#9) Now move your flashing insertion point - the "I" bar in the middle of the the IMG brackets. And hold the control key and tap the "V" key ONE TIME. The URL of the banner should appear.
#10) Now scroll / look down a bit for the "preview" button. Strike it. And now you should see how the new banner looks. It should be centered... and you can modify the text or count-down banner thing you've got running.
BTW... you can rip countdown images too the same way or google over to the ticker factory to make your own and insert here.
#11) TO save your work and make the banner permanent... follow the obvious button and save it. Click back to the thread and make an entry... and admire your banner.
#12) If it worked then you are indebted to me to the tune of 3 dublooms or a Mickey Bar with sprinkles. I will be collecting in your absence from the ships stores on my next sailing. On the other hand... if it did not work then you may collect a Mickey Bar from ships stores (with sprinkles) and add it to my tab. My name is ANDY.... <chuckles> .... and if that don't work try STACY (did I get that right?).... so have the ship match up the names and just send me the tab. While you're at it ... book a spa treatment or two on me too! If the ships' cashier can't find my account ... tell them to bill Todd instead. They should be able to find that Captain Jack impersonator... (now I'm gonna catch it!)....
At any rate... I am NOT responsible for botched up siggys. I'm just an undercompensated consultant - doing a little gratis work freelance here. Shoot... what can I say ... I'm working for sprinkles over an Ice Cream bar with Mickey Ears!???!?!
Remember... your siggy has to be of a certain size overall with images and count down counters adding up to a certain number of bytes. I vaguely recall it must be 50 or 60K.... and alternatively it might have pixel dimension limits as well. LBGraves will inform you if you're severely out of compliance.
