Hi Gang,

Belated :bday: to Ian, Madison, and Linda!!!

CHARTER BUS INFO: DL TO PORT

Wendy - welcome to the charter bus team!!! With you & Julie & I - it should be easy & fun!!

I did some preliminary research - 134 charter bus companies in the LA area - for a 5 hr. charter the posted rates are under $8. pp.
The full size buses hold from 45 - 60 people - and mini-buses hold from 20 - 38.
It makes no sense to negotiate a contract until after the May final payment. However, it is a GREAT idea to keep a list of those interested so that when the time comes we'll have a firm idea of what is required.

I still have totally "ketched up" - but Happy New Year Everyone!!!

WENCHES BRUNCH & TEA

Since it is now 2008 - it seems timely that go to the next level of TOAL planning.
For the Aug. Med Repo I organized 2 Ladies (now known as Wenches) Palo Brunch and a Palo Tea.
I volunteer to do so again for our cruise. Unless someone else wants to take this on!!!

BRUNCH:
What I did was reserve the Palo private dining room for 2 of the sea days. The limit is 14 for each brunch. I know other groups are also planning on reserving the room for brunch during sea days - so it would be helpful to have an idea how many are interested. I do have a preliminary list started already.
I'll post the sea day dates - and we can choose. How many depends on how many are interested. One caveat is that if you book your own separate brunch - the manager cancels it in favor of the private room brunch. ( I hope that makes sense)
For those interested I need your full name & ressie # - PM'd to me. When DCL opens the booking date - I will fax our request. In August they approved both requests.

TEA:
The private dining room was not available for the tea. So, what I did was take my list of guests (full names & ressie#) and the date (or dates) I wanted and as soon as I embarked I ran (literally) up to Palo and met w/the manager to place my request. What they did was give us 3 -4 large table all near each other. I only requested one date and there were 25- 30 of us.
The Palo manager is great and simply made it work!! I warned him I would be back for the PC repo!!!
I don't know if the dining room will be available for this cruise - during the Med repo they did not have enought servers so it was unavailable. Perhaps it will be different this time. I will check on that when that info is available.

Anyway - that's the info. I don't know if this is something to add to the web site???? Or.......

Maybe calling it PCH is a SoCal thing.
That sounds like such a great trip!

:hyper:

I thought PCH was the school that the character played by Brittney Spears pregnant sister went to?

Also, M, have you seen the ??dunkin donuts?? commercial with the "I'm freezing at pee wee hockey" song? Makes me think of you.

Done!

Anyone want to take guess on how many families we have as part of our group? I am trying to keep a look out for something to put in everyones fish extended and have no clue how many there really are or how you even consider if you are part of "our group". Anyone have any ideas???

:hyper:

I know that Pacific Coast Highway has been referred to as PCH my entire life. :cool2: No one in SoCal refers to it by its real name. That is how we tell the out of towners. :rotfl2:

Coral, we will get a list together (probably after final payment is due and people start to get room numbers) of everyone who plans to hang something on the fish extender . . we can even try to coordinate who will be giving out on which days so that people get things evenly throughout the trip (we did this on my Med cruise last summer and it was much more fun than getting a lot of things at the beginning and nothing later). Tom has a list of people helping with the fish extender list on the website, and you are welcome to join if you'd like . . .:goodvibes

This will be a terrific rate -- $8 pp -- even if you have a party of 4, $32 is a lot less than the $50 a taxi will run . . . and of course we will be able to get the party started even earlier in the bus . . .

Chris -- you KNOW I am first on your list for the brunch -- I will do it whatever day you plan to do it . . . I will PM you with my reservation number . . . I have such happy memories of our brunch that day and how you made it all happen . . .

Thanks yal! If this is not the most organized group- I don't know what would be.
I will sit tight and when we get the final count- go from there.

Only if you like spending lots of time at the bar.....

Julie, how was your trip? Hope that you had a great time at DL.

It was awesome, dude!:hippie: :hippie: :hippie: :hippie:

Thanks for asking, Roger -- I thought of you when taking a picture of one of my daughters with surfin' Santa in DCA . . . yes, he was still there after Christmas! I'll try to remember to post the picture for you.

My one disappointment was that we had the Fantasmic dessert booked (and you know how hard it is to get that) and were seated enjoying dessert when they announced that it was being canceled -- not the Santa Ana winds, but some technical problem. Still, we got a refund and still enjoyed the dessert and seeing the fireworks from our seats! Then we just watched it another night from the area near the fence where you sit and stake out a spot.

I really enjoyed the Christmas decorations (having been at WDW many times at Christmas and at DL before but NOT at Christmas) and especially the Haunted Mansion holiday (we went on that twice every day we were there!).

Aren't you glad I stayed out of trouble and didn't have to PM you to get me out of Disney jail (if there is such a thing) or something?????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Only if you like spending lots of time at the bar.....

I was kind of assuming that one . . .:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Why do you think we need so many on the committee?????? One or two completely sober people could probably handle it, but what's the fun in that????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know what you mean about numbers -- I had things made up for the people on the fish extender list for the Med cruise and Med repo last summer and needed to have a rough estimate on how many well in advance . . . we will have a pretty good idea by about 6 weeks ahead, I would guess.
