I missed out on the camera/humidity topic yesterday due to work. Anyway here is my plan. Remember the underwater bag from last year.

It is to small for my new camera (with the lense extended)to take pictures with, so I am going to use it for a humidity bag. If I were to keep my camera in the bag when going from cold to hot/humid until the camera comes to ambient temperature, then remove it from the airtight bag it should not fog up. Right? It also came with a bunch of the little silica bags.

I am not too sure that would work, as the bag and air will get cold in the stateroom, and as soon as its taken out it will also get hot and humid?

Thanks for the kudos everyone, the past few days I have been able to walk around reading meters much easier, and I'm feeling better about myself as well........:goodvibes

I made a music CD for the DCL House Party we are going to next weekend. I'm taking the CD and the DCL poster over to the lady who is hosting the party after I drop Angelina off at work this afternoon.

Will check in later...........

I did not want to get too technical (didn't want to have to post SCIENCE ALERT), but yes the camera and the bag would start off at a cooler temperature in the room/indoors. Keeping the camera in the airtight/waterproof bag when going outdoors until the camera/bag have warmed enough to surpass the dew point. Condensation/dew will form on any surface that is colder than or equal to the dew point. The areas we are going to the dew points are maybe 10-15degrees lower than the actual temperature. So if the temp is 90 and dew point 80, if you warm your camera up to 82 before exposing it the the outside air condensation should not take place. This all sounds good in theory but I am not taking any responsibility for anyone's camera. :rotfl2:

OK, sounds good, I am not an expert, so I hope it works, and let us know.

I think it should work pretty much the same as the freezer-bag option. The idea is that the air trapped in the bag with the camera has much less moisture within it (lower-humidity) so even when it gets warm, it will not have as much liquid available to condense onto/into the camera. Once it has come to ambient temperature and you open it, the camera will be exposed to the more humid air -BUT it won't condense on/in the camera since it is at the same temperature as the air. Of course, it would be a bad idea to seal the camera into the bag while you are in the humidity since then you are trapping the moisture on the inside of the bag!

Yes, you would have to wait until the camera has come to the same temp as outside, otherwise it would attract condensation.

Andy, I am using you as an example for DH. Keep up the good work.

Just a real quick post before I walk out the door. I was just able to fit into my size 36 jeans, the last time I tried to put these on I couldn't button them. I haven't had these jeans on in quite sometime, boy does this make me feel good.......:goodvibes

OK, off we go.........

Congratulations, Andrew! You have very chatty fingers for someone who is relatively quiet in person . . .:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Congratulations! What a great feeling! Keep up the good work. Send some good vibes this way. I'm trying to but it's hard to stay away from chocolate.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking by buying the waterproof camera bag and keeping the silica packets in it. The other advantage would be to be able to use it on the snorkeling and zipline tour without worrying about the humidity. We also want to parasail and it would be perfect for the beach.

Okay. I just checked. It is a Nikon Coolpix 3100. I think that means it is a 3 megapixel and not a 5 megapixel. All I know is that you point, shoot, and delete the pictures you do not like! :)

That's basically what I have too. A Panasonic Lumix 7.2 with a 6x Zoom. :confused3
