I First Introduced myself on this thread after being one of the lucky ones to snag a room for this sailing. The thread quickly became overwhelming and I didn't have time to keep up with the postings. Life became hectic with a sick Baby and the last time I checked postings there was a information thread at the beginning that gave summaries of the postings and information on the ports, excursions etc......I see that is gone now. Is it hidden away somewhere that I am not seeing? Well life is getting back to normal now. My baby is now 2 and doing GREAT after her open heart surgery in July. What a difference in her!! Our family is now getting excited again for this trip!! We are looking at it being a special celebration because it will be one year since her surgery and she will turn 3 on the cruise!!! We have 4 Children. The youngest will turn 3 on the sailing. We have a son who is 5. A Daughter who is turning 8, and a son who will be 10 this Spring. All of a sudden it feels like this cruise is Right Around the corner !!!! We have done nothing to plan and now I feel like there isn't enough time, although of course their is!!! We have done the 4 Day cruise and Last winter we did the Western . Our family can't wait to spend 15 days on our favorite place to be in the world !! WE hope this time we have enough time to do everything we want to do!! Well if anyone knows of a summary page or cruise information page to help me that would be great!! Thank You!!

It does say the following on post #2 on pg. 1 but I guess people are missing it.

For any new people that are joining this thread or cruise, please send a Private Message(PM) to tom31b for more cruise information.

Glad to hear your DD is doing great! :thumbsup2

;) Hello fellow Pirates :wave2: When last I had some time to post, I think I was ear-deep in soccer season with my boys, looking for a new job and thinking about selling our house. WELL ... I'm happy to report that soccer season has ended ... and nothing else has much changed in my world :rotfl2: I'm still looking for that "perfect" job, and we're still probably, more-likely-than-not going to sell our house and move into something different in the near future.

I've been following along with the thread as much as possible, and reading my newsletters faithfully ... THANK YOU!! My thoughts are with everyone that needs them for any of those good or bad reasons that pop up in all of our lives

I think I recently read that M was looking for help with a task force Happy Hour, and I think I can help out w/that one. Anyone else need help with task force Happy Hours, I'm your girl! ;)

We attended a family wedding earlier this month, and got some great shots that I'll be sending along with our family bio for inclusion on the website ... that is as soon as DH remembers which "safe place" he put the XDCard in, since he was fearful of the camera getting lost or stolen from the bag that HE was responsible for

I've been asked by aforementioned DH, if there might be any pirates amongst the group that would be interested in an excursion to Sammy Hagar's bar in Cabo for some tequilla tasting :confused3

Take care all!
Kandi

We're planning on selling our house hopefully before the TOAL!

I'll join in any happy hour task forces too! :goodvibes

I'd love to join the tequila tasting, but since we'll have the kids we'll most likely just find a beach with a nice tiki bar. ;)

Ummm, that was my way of recruiting task force members!

Im always up for some Tequila tasting , and doing it at Sammy's place is a bonus ...count me in ...Cabo Wabo it is ...

Maybe this should be a "Pirates" excursion to Sammy's Place and do our own Tequila Tasting there ....I have always said the next time we make it to Cabo thats what I want to do ...LOL

1 tequila 2 tequila 3 tequila Floor ...LOL

Oh no. DH isn't allowed to drink tequilla. It makes him 10 foot tall and bullet proof.

Actually, that sounds like fun.

Hi M! I would be happy to help. I use publisher for stuff here at the office and our Garden Club newsletter. My version is Publisher 2003 (I also have at least 1 or 2 older versions)

I think it is a great idea - with so many activities, it will be hard to keep track without something like this! One thing we might want to think about is if there is a need for any last minute changes. An option would be to post "updates" on the doors of the task force members and include information to look there for any changes...

Great idea! You're in :thumbsup2

I just got my Canon XTi on my birthday (January 2nd) and in January in Chicago "Heat and humidity" are pretty much foreign words! :rotfl2:

From what I have read on the subject - any camera is subject to fogging when going from one extreme to another (frigid air conditioning to hot, humid weather or the reverse. As far as I know, about all you can do is wait for the condensation to evaporate. I once read a tip that suggested keeping a couple of those little bags of silica gel (you know - they seem to come inside all sorts of stuff and we usually just throw them away?) in your camera bag will help. These will absorb moisture so they were be less to condense on the camera when the temperature changes. I have no idea if it makes a difference or not, but I have kept a couple of these in the bag with my point-and-shoot for the last couple of years and I haven't had much trouble with this.

Pamela (pdarrah)

We just call them "Do Not Eats"

We just call them "Do Not Eats"

That's funny! :lmao: :rotfl2:

I just pulled one out of my camera bag (yes, I am crazy and actually brought it to work today! DS8 is off school today so he is here and you never know when I might want to take a photo.) And is says:

SILICA GEL
"DO NOT EAT"
THROWAWAY
DESICCANT

I'm trying to figure out why DO NOT EAT is in quotes... :rotfl:

Am I breaking a rule by NOT throwing it away? Sort of like removing the tag from a mattress? :rotfl2: :confused3 :rotfl:

Has anyone else read the fine print on the web site?

No animals or garden implements were harmed in the making of this website.

:lmao: This is what happens when we turn the site over to a sea lawyer! Nice, Tom.

Ummm... that was actually a JR quote... been there 4 or 5 months......

Anyhoo, I thunk of a task force I can lead: Pirate Navigator

I can collect all the great info & activities that we are planning and making a newsletter with our pre-cruise and on-board plans. Days, times, locations, etc. for the things we can set and/or contact information (name & cabin #) for the lead person(s) of each activity. I know most of this is on the web site, but I'm not going to carry the web site around for 15 days.:surfweb: I think if we shoot for completing it by early August, then most people can print it from the web site before they leave & I'll bring along a bunch of extra copies.

What do you think?
Anyone want to help? I think the first order of business is scheduling an onboard Pirate Navigator Task Force Happy Hour!

I'll probably design it in MS Publisher, so it would be helpful if folks on the task force have the same program.

The only help I could be was coordinating the Happy Hour - :rotfl2:

Kidding aside - we had a Dis navigator on the med repo - it was great. They had a page for each day w/whatever eveent or activity that was planned for that day.
Great idea M !!!!!

Gotta love the volunteers for the Happy Hour!!! Love this group!

Hi Cheryl,

When are you planning on going to England/Paris in '09?? We are plannin a trip also. First a few days in London - then on to Paris & perhaps some time in Provence. We're thinking the end of June when the DGK's are out of school.

I think JR & family are going over to Paris this year.
I fell in love w/Paris this summer - and am really looking forward to going back.

It is open for discussion on when we go!!! :thumbsup2 I do know I would like June or September as I stated numerous times I hate the cold.:rotfl2:

Eurostar has a number of direct services to Europe from London, now we have two direct services to Paris, one into central Paris, -Gare du nord, one doesnt go to central Paris it goes to Marne-le-vallee, this station is under ''Downtown Disney'' and about a 2 MIN walk to Disneyland park (and Disneyland hotel) to the right, or same time Walt disney studios park, directly in front, or to the left, all the other disney hotels most are within walking distance.

But on the train, they give you for hotel room number and key, and the paks pass, you get off the train dump your luggage in the station with Disney, and go to the park.

Disney talks your luggage to the hotel room first day, and brings it to the station last night, so both of thoose days you have max time in the parks.

Eurostar services go through the channel tunnel the chunnel, they take about 25 mins under the sea, the Eurotunnel trains from kent to france take cars and they take a little longer just over 30 mins, as they just go coast to coast, Eurostar is travlling up to 186mph.

Can you give a ball park figure of in pounds or dollars what would a round trip ticket cost from London to DLP via Eurostar??:confused3 :confused3 If dreams come true...I will be asking lots of info after our TOAL. :flower3:

Single per adult standard class about £65pp.

You can also upgrade to leisure select, larger seats and meal.

I'm looking at this too, but can't decide between the 8 & 10 hour trips. Me & eldest DD are definirtely doing one of these on the Saturday, I just don't know which! Maybe we can start another Pre DCL Dis trip!

We're looking into something like this too. There is a hummer limo that does a hollywood/LA tour for 4 hours for 24 people at appx. $750 including gratuity so that comes out to $31.25 per person. Any takers? I would gladly be in charge of planning this if anybody is interested?

You be careful out there Cheryl. ;) All of you that are effected by this cold snap keep warm. I think that it is time to bring out the Virtual Cruise so you all can dream about those warm sunny places we will be visiting.

Sounds like a wonderful idea Roger! :goodvibes

Gotta love the volunteers for the Happy Hour!!! Love this group!

John said he would even volunteer for any Happy Hour Task Force!!!:dance3: :dance3:
I haven't been on much lately & you know how much I hate to complain (ya right! ) but I've had a lot of inflammation lately which makes me extremely fatigued & my computer died which left us all scrambling for the laptop & I don't feel like making a huge post with lots of quotes (don't think anybody reads them anyway). ;)

I always read extened versions of multi-quotes.:rolleyes1

Duh!!! Dumb question but what is Sammy's Place???:confused3 Sounds like some where I would like to stop at.

Is chat working yet???? :confused3 I have to leave to go do trailers on cloverfield!!:woohoo:

We have a several year old Sony Cybershot and love it. Upside - takes great quality pictures (5.1 mp) and does video and some other advanced adjustments. Downside - there is a second lag between pressing shutter and picture taking and it takes a few seconds for flash to recover (you can't take next picture until flash recovers. Both of these have supposedly gotten better.

A while back Andyr ?? posted some pics taken with an Olympus camera that was submersible to 33 feet. Good pics, good quality. A submersible camera would probably handle the humidity better. In addition to the link earlier, there are others reviewed http://cameras.about.com/od/photographybyinterest/tp/underwater.htm

You really need to decide what features are important and then can narrow it down some.....

and where is Crash hiding... someone has a camera question!

Me too. We ruined an almost brand new Canon camera on our Caribbean cruise. We just walked from our air conditioned room to the deck and there was so much mist/fog/condensation - it was ruined.
I have been saving every one of those little baggies of chemicals that they put everywhere to absorb moisture and was going to keep them in my camera bag but need better hints.

This is exactly what they told us to do at Best Buy when I got my camera.
