8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC Part 2

Ok, we're IN Just wondering if this sounds like an honorary pirate move ... since I had no OBD or OBC to try and save, I jumped on the home computer at 8:03 this morning. By 8:33, I was printing my confirmation for my Cat 9 stateroom 2618 ... this after DH telling me, "You're GONNA need a window if we're going to be there for 15 nights." after I had given him the price for the Cat 10. Here's where the quasi-pirate move comes in ... I had been talking to a friend we've cruised with in the past about the cruise, she said, "When you're booking yours, can you book ours too?" I said sure ... but didn't book them this morning because I was already too late for work w/o warning them Once I got to work, I called her and said, "Jump on line, I had no problems you should be good!" She ended up with the stateroom right next door at 2620.

NOW that it's official ... I should probably introduce myself ... I'm Kandi and I will be sailing w/my DH and our two boys who will be 9 and 12 on this cruise. Happy to be official and Happy to be sailing with you all

I was just thinking . . . if they are starting to run out of rooms . . .and we put a request to reserve a room while on board (1/13 Western), will our room be there when we call? Or will be just get what's left? They said they would call and never did . . . Did anyone else do this?

Oh, they just offered to let us leave a message and they would call us back . . .LOL. . .just like they would call us before 1/31 . ..

I got onto DCl's site as soon as it loaded (kept hitting refresh) and it
only showed about 10 - Cat 4 staterooms available. I'm thinking they have blocked off all the rooms for the IC requests, even if you haven't been called yet, it would seem there is a room for you. There is no way that within 2 minutes all but 10 Cat 4's could have been booked by everyone on-line. Remember, DCL CM's did not have access to booking till almost 8:35AM. Alma kept telling me - don't worry, nobody can book yet. Well, I was reading the DIS thread to her how everyone was booking already. She says, "oh really" .

I feel like I need a nap with all this excitement

Cat 6, 2 people, $6790.48 - includes taxes and fees AND the 10% off
Cat 11, 3 people (2 kids) $ 4194.72 - also includes what is above

Yours sounds identical to what ours will be, I mean the rooms we want (unless we get cat 7 which is fine also) and the amount of people in each reservation for each room.
10,980 sounds good to me. I have to remember that this would be the same as us spending 5500 for each of a 2wk back to back cruise, PLUS an extra night... so it sounds good to me. Our original reservation, that we never intended on taking (intended on transferring to to June 2008) cost us right over $6000 for cat 6/cat 11 same amount of people you mentioned in each room. So to add a week would have atleast been around that- $12k for both weeks. Under that sounds good to me!

(ps. we paid right at $6k for 2 cat 9's for the 7 day cruise last May/June double dip cruise- and we booked that right when the dates came out too!)

Yeah as soon as the phones were able to book, cat6 were already to early booking tier 3

Just checked orig res online at Disney and it changed over - we are in Stateroom 2139!!!! No idea on price though!

oh - and one thing I noticed online - the itinerary does not have Aruba or Cartagena listed yet...does that mean they are not definite???

I never would have believed this madness. I realize there is only 1 EB Repo, but it's amazing the demand is so great. No wonder the cost is so much higher than other cruise lines (totally worth it, though).

Still on hold...but the website says Cat 9 is the same cost now as it was at 5am(pst). I hope it doesn't go up too much before I get in.

... I'm not posting too much as I am following ALL of the on line prices and making a record of how they are changing over time. Unfortunately... you may want to avert your eyes for a moment now... I was awakened by a pal at 5:45AM California time ... (safe to look again) ... so I missed following the ruckus before then.

Alas, since 5:45AM til now 7:35AM I have only seen the cat 4 go up on-line. Everything else has NOT changed in price. Am I doing something wrong or is this what others are seeing? I do see cabin selection disappearing though.

The only downside I suppose is that it's a guaranteed as opposed to a specific room.

Never mind, we'll manage.

Just for grins, took a look at the prices for the eastbound vs. westbound repo. Eastbound prices are going up faster than the west. At 9:30 Central, price for 3 adults was:

Cat 5 is 9714.22 on west, 10233.72 on east. Cat 6 is 9514.22 on west, 10033.72 on east. Cat 7 is 9154.22 on east, 8673.72 on west.

By comparison, when the website came up, a cat 5 was 9133.72, cat 6 was 8933.72, cat 7 was 8573.72 on the eastbound.

When we went in 2005, there were families that went both ways. I wish ...

Woo Hoo!!!! We're in.

Stressful morning and it turned out IC had actually taken care of us (Why they couldn't tell us that when I called last night I will never understand!)

First we couldn't get through at all. Then at 7:40CST DH got through on his cell. 45 minutes later on his way to work - Nextel dropped the call!!! Believe it or not, I was still trying to get through on my phone - I literally dialed from 6:55CST until about 9:20CST and NEVER got through. DH got back on hold on this 3rd try (how does he do it?) and just finished and called me. IC had already booked our room. We are in 6076 (same room we had for Jan13 Western 2 weeks ago!) and got our OBD and OBC and tier 1 pricing!!!!!

I'm still in some sort of shock - it hasn't sunk in. (Well, my very sore redialing fingers have sunk in, but that we are really going on this cruise hasn't!)

Sorry, I have such a bad taste in my mouth with the price increases I may just give it back...

Not as much. The 8 was 7912.96 at first. It went up to 8684.96 right before my resie was done. My end total after 10% was 7802.96 and the 200 OBC. If it wasn't for the Captain's help I would still be on hold & the prices would be going up more.

I emailed DH with the price & his reply was

I don't have time to read all the posts right now as I have to get ready to go to work and then a HS swim meet, but I finally (after two hours!!) was able to book two Cat. 10 GTY for the EB, late seating, no ins./ trans. aprox. 6K for 3 people each.
