Yeah...

Lil' G, we were all in chat and sitting at 79,665 when someone who shall remain un-named posted "hey - anyone up for a friendly sprint to 80,000?".... and it was NOT ME! So one by one folks quickly dropped off the chat room - and in approximately 61 minutes we put on 335+ postings... with a good ol' swabbie (Mike) siezing the prize for the men! I had the 79,999th posting - so I missed it by one. Gotta run now!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to everyone. Didn't get near the computer yesterday. Woke up early to make some pies and finsih the stuffing. Then the bird went in and cleanup was over. I would like to say I relaxed after that but Ha!. My DS decided he was now talking to me and came over as did DDs husband as he finished up early at the hotel. So we had a full house for us and everyone left early. Caught up with Grays and read the ads while sitting with my chair massager. Nice. There wasn't anything I really wanted to get so getting up early wasn't an option. In fact didn't rise til 10:30am and didn't feel guilty about it at all.

Next stop is the drugstore to fill some scripts and check out Bealls sale on their clearance. they are running addtl 50% off the clearance and will prob go later tonight when everyone else is crashing.

That does sound cool, Andy -- I love to watch the Christmas Disney show on TV on Christmas morning after we've opened all the presents. We put on the famous "Yule Log" while opening presents -- one TV station here has just a videotape of a crackling fire while playing Christmas carols in the background and as crazy as it sounds, it's just the thing for opening presents! Then by the time we are done with all that the Disney parade comes on.

It's all starting now -- such a magical time of the year and I think the time of the year that NYC shows itself off the best.

Julie, the last time we drove into the city to see the parade it was cold, drizzling and miserable. Walking back to the car, one shop was open selling hot drinks and pastries. Thank goodness for him as we would've paid just about anything to get something hot at that point. We watched the parade yesterday and commented how great the weather was for a change.Looks like you had a great spot uptown.

I want my next trip to NYC to be during the holidays. I want to go iceskating ans see all the holiday cheer. Enjoy it Julie.:goodvibes

There is notheing better than NYC during the Christmas season. No matter how brutal the weather was, the displays would lift your spirits. As for skating at Rockefeller Center, it was great under the tree.If I find the pictures of my kids when they were younger I will try to post them.

I used to love to go K-mart after eating dinner on Turkey day - they closed the local one after they declared bankruptcy and I really miss going there. Now Tarjay gets all my busines.

Hope you got some great bargins in addition to the diet Pepsi.

Kmart was open yesterday and had the Wiis in their flyer. I was there Wed night and the girl told me all day people were calling to see how many were available. She was glad she didn't have the early shift :lmao:

  :woohoo: :woohoo:   I can just check off my list Best Buy Black Friday shopping!!! I just got DH a Sony Mini DVD Camcorder he was looking at for the TOAL!!! The thought of waiting in line when I just saw I could buy it on line and Free shipping!!! I just saved $140.:yay: I should go to bed now.:cloud9: I am getting up in 4 more hours to get my free J C Penney Mickey Mouse Snow Globe to ad to my collection. I think this makes number 8 Penney's has given out!!!:cheer2:

YEA!!!!
i was hoping you were going to get it. Hope your day went well. Will try to call you later.

We went to see Enchanted on Wednesday eve, and we all enjoyed it. The little chipmunk and Prince are so funny!

Yesterday morning, DD woke up complaining of a sore ear. She had been battling a cold, so my first thought was ear infection. As the morning went on, she said it was getting worse and worse. I was afraid we would have to go to the ER. Well, we called the doctor office, and the answering service paged him. He called back within 10 mins. and agreed to meet us at his office. How nice! Sure enough, she had an infection in both ears! He gave us sample antibiotics for yesterday, so we wouldn't have to get her prescription filled until today. Nice again! He handed me the prescrition and was sending us on our way, when I asked about our copay, and he said "I never charge people on Holidays" SUPER NICE! I explained to DD that not many doctors would even come out on a Holiday, let alone not charge anything! Needless to say, I was very thankful yesterday!

That is one Dr you need to pat on the back. It reminds me of our Dr growing up. He lived on the same block as us and used to do housecalls after hours if you were sick, rather than to bring your sickness into his office. Those were the days.

Crash, thinking it may cost you more than she saved in bringing the stuff back to Ca. May not have been such a bargain if you can't get it on the plane with you.

I am officially pooped..............I read three meter books today accounting for some 366 houses. I think the township got their money's worth out of me today.............:lmao:

Now, it's time for a little R & R.................:)

Happy Black Friday! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Our thanksgiving in a box was very good! Lots of goodies in the fridge.

My friend got me up at 5AM and I met her at Michaels. I got a Cricut that was in the ad, but almost didn't. There were 15 people in line when we got there. DD was up with my friend and she was the one to get in there and scooped up the box! I guess I don't have to train her for comando shopping! She was so proud of herself! :lmao: Mom! I got one! Was all I heard. This was before I had any coffee.:lmao:

Also hit a Pandora jewelry trunk show, but the BOGO was buy 4 charms get one free! I passed on that one. I think I'm done shopping for today!

Congrats to all!

Thank you so much. All of that happened at the end of October -- although the show was the first two weekends in November. :)

Did I also mention that dh decided we needed to buy a new house? And he did? I have spent every free moment in the past few weeks shopping with the designer for -- granite, marble, tile, stone, glass and choosing paint colors! LOL! We've lived in this house for nearly 17yrs and I am a major packrat (2700' of living space plus a 2 car garge that is full and a full attic......)....... I should be throwing stuff away instead of on the computer but, I really would like to get a little caught up here! ;)

I am so glad to hear that your docter was so kind as to come in on Thanksgiving! I hope everyone is better soon -- all of our girls are prone to ear infections. :sad2:

So you do know what it usually is like watching the parade outside! We couldn't believe that we weren't freezing yesterday. It was a real gift. Not that we don't always go even when it is cold, but it makes it a lot easier walking home across the park afterwards when you can feel your feet!

I would love to see pictures of your kids skating in Rockefeller Center. When mine were younger we always went to have "breakfast with Santa" at the Rock Center Cafe. Santa would stop by and visit your table (like a character breakfast at Disney!) and then afterwards you had tickets to skate in the rink, where a suspiciously different looking and much thinner Santa also skated with you!

I took my two youngest (13 and 10) on our annual trip to see Santaland at Macy's this morning. This was the first year that my 15 year old decided she'd rather sleep in . . .

How did this happen? I wasn't into BF shopping this year. Had only 1 thing that I wanted to go out and get. Well...6 hours later I'm finally done!

Started out at 8am. Like I said I only wanted 1 thing and I knew it wouldn't sell out. I was looking for a wine refrigerator. There were a few places that had them on sale but I started at Best Buy. They had a 12 bottle one for $57. Other places had an 8 bottle one for $49 after rebates. Now I absolutely HATE Best Buy and had vowed I would never go there again. But the price lured me in. Went straight to the home appliance department and found a big stack of the refridgerators but they were marked $99. The sales associate told me that was the price and they were not on sale. When I inquired as to why there were so many of them in the stack that was in the middle of the aisle, she couldn't explain. I asked her to check the ad, which she did, but still told me this wasn't the one on sale. I asked her to check to computer and 5 minutes later she finally admitted this was the one on sale. To her credit she did go off and find me a cart so I wouldn't have to carry it.

Got in line, only 3 people ahead of me. Checked out pretty fast. Had a $25 Visa gift card, so my final cost was $37. Asked the cashier how long the line was when they finally opened. It had wrapped around the parking lot. But she laughed about it because all those folks did not need to line up, 3 hours after opening they still had all the door busters available.

Since my one item was somewhat painless, I decided to hit up JCPenney, just in case they still had the Mickey snow globes. Nope they were all gone. Wandered around but there wasn't anything I was interested in enough to brave the 20 people deep lines.

Headed home and got DS and we had a nice breakfast. Then it was off again. I decided I needed new wine glasses to serve the wine in that was going to be chilled in the new fridge. Grabbed my Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons and headed out. Didn't realize that they were giving 20% your entire purchase before 10am. I missed it by 30 minutes, but I had my coupons. Didn't find any wine glasses I liked but I did grab a fancy new bottle opener set and a kitchen trash can with a lid. Our old one didn't have a lid and the dog has been getting into it. I had 2 20% off coupons and a $25 gift card. All I paid was $0.96. Score another bargain! :yay:

Next it was OSH because they are offering no sales tax this weekend. Picked up a small chain saw, garden lopers, gloves and soap for the carpet cleaner. The shelf for the chain saw had 2 sale signs indicating a price of $39.97 but it kept ringing up in the register for $44.97. They sent a manager back but he couldn't find it. He kept insisting the price was $44.99. I had to walk him back there, show him the signs, then take the sign back to the register to get the price. Turns out the sale ended on the 21st but they never took the signs down, so I got the sale price. Then I confused things even more because I had a $10 off $50 coupon AND another $25 Visa gift card. Final price at OSH was $43.xx. :cheer2:

Finally swung by the Dollar Tree since our local one just got a freezer section. Picked up some waffles, huge pretzels, chicken nuggets, fries, and corn dogs. DS is set for the weekend. Won't last him too long, he's become the proverbial teenage bottomless pit. This wasn't necessarily a Black Friday stop, just a convient one since it was right next to OSH.

WHEW...I'm tired! :faint:

Wow Monica, I 'm exhausted just reading about your day.:rotfl:

Ya know what? I just realized all this shopping and I didn't buy any gifts. Everything I purchased was for ME. But all I have left to get is something for my parents. On one hand it's nice to be done this early. But on the other hand, I'm sure I'll get sucked in by the last minute sales.

Bought a suit today and on the way out spied a tux on sale (sail, since it will be used on cruises) less than $125.00 :cool1:

Put a deposit on our 2009 Florida Jan to April get away from winter snow. Regal Palms Resort, very close to Disney. Three Bedroom 2.5 baths under $2,000 a month.

We have now decided that in Feb we will give up full time baby sitting our Grandson, he's really been a pleasure. We were worried we'd miss him too much so we'll watch him one week a month (at least till Jan 2009 when we go to Florida), that way we'll be able to vacation when ever :cheer2:

Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought I'd share a few pictures from the Macy's thanksgiving parade this morning -- our weather was incredibly warm and pleasant! We usually freeze watching it, but not this year. It was great.

BTW LG, my nickname growing up is also my user name on the CC Board. Have any guesses what it might be??? I had signed up on the CC Board first, a link from that site sent me to the DISboards. Luckily, I changed my user name before signing up on this site!!! :rotfl:

I'll give you a little hint.........the last part of my nickname, is a person's last name in a very popular movie title. Now that shouldn't be too hard to figure out............:rolleyes1

I hate word puzzles!! :headache: You know I won't sleep until I figure this out. :sad1:
