That is the camera I am strongly considering. Please keep me updated on likes and dislikes.
I have so many of those Ritz class coupons and a class center very close and I still cannot manage to go. I think an investment in that camera might be the kick that gets me there.:)

This is the camera that I recently got. I love it!! It's taking a little time for me to figure out all the settings when I try to be a bit more manual, but I got some pretty good pictures on our recent trip to WDW.

Craftymouse.....there is a Cat 8 on the website right now, I know you were looking for a 9, but thought I'd pass it on for you....oh, and WELCOME!

Snakes.....And we both want to retire to Florida??:confused3 :lmao: :lmao:

I know, funny isn't it???

I think I can put up with seeing snakes if it means I don't have to shovel or deal with the sn*w and ice anymore!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Fixed! If the other cruisers aren't going to stroke your ego then I'm not either! ;) Your costumes are fantastic though!

Welcome to thread. This is gonna be fun.

We get Black snakes,Rat snakes,Copperheads, Watermoccasins and Rattlers here. Along with scorpions and trantulas as well. You'd think we lived in the desert for cryin out loud!!!

Except for the ice.

Camera Geek Time

Here's what I'm getting for Christmas:
pic_001.jpg

8.1 effective megapixels for high-precision image quality
Optical 3x Zoom-NIKKOR lens
Pictmotion for sharing photo enjoyment
Optical lens shift VR image stabilization
3.0-inch high-level contrast LCD monitor with anti-reflection coating
High sensitivity of up to ISO1600, High-Sensitivity mode
Three Unique Nikon Image Innovations for high performance – Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and D-Lighting
Face-priority AF can be selected outside of Scene Modes
Sophisticated look inheriting wave-surface design of existing COOLPIX S series
Slim and compact, stylish design

I also looked at the Olympus Stylus 790 - the waterproof/shockproof one, but after playing with both at the camera shop and and reading reviews, I decided on the Nikon. My Nikon D80 will still be my main camera, but I wanted a point and shoot to take to the beach/pool without leaving $2K of equipment under a towel & a little camera to take to dinner on TOAL.

I think the lights on his PLAM trees are lovely:lmao:

You don't think we will be on the cruise and someone will see a certain type of tree and ask CC "Is that a PLAM tree?"

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You bet we will -- particularly if Crash is nearby!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Good Morning Everyone!

As my butter melts just wanted to say hi to all.

Making gingerbread this morning for houses and gingerbread men (and women). I bake all the pieces to the houses and our girls put them together with royal icing then decorate them.

Well...

.... may I offer to roll out the RED CARPET in welcoming you to our pleasant little madness here! < wink > actually we're not all engaged in maddening diversions... well... at least Andy is a straight shooter but I don't know about Cheryl and I. And Tom, Andrew and JR... they're all certifiable. assuming we can get Lil'G to sign the committment docs! ;)

So...

Thanks so much! You certainly are a welcoming bunch! I've taken 6 cruises but never really participated in the group stuff as I always felt like I was breaking into an established group. It is so much different here! Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to meeting each of you!

Michele

Hi everyone! It seems (& is) an age since I lasted dropped by. Life has been frantic with the usual run of the mill stuff made worse with the loss of 2 CDs containing sensitive info which was & still is well publicised in the uK press. My gran (who is 89) had another fall & fractured her femur so it has been pinned, but she has since suffered a small stroke & is very confused. Admittedly it hasn't helped that the hospital she is in appears to be trying to encourage her to "meet her maker" by hooking her up to a drip of fluids & anyibiotics & then letting it run dry and not refresh it! As the end of term of approaches for all the various activities we seem to be meeting ourselves coming the other way with all the rushing around! Have however managed to get all the girls gifts wrapped and being caretaked by a neighbour as Lauren is still trying to decide fact from fiction!

I see that excursions are now up so I can spend an evening or 2 selecting what I fancy! It's been that busy I haven't even had chance to look to see whether we have a cabin# yet! As there seem to have been openings, I'm hopeful!

Anyway, if I don't get on before the 25th, have a great Xmas all & I hope to be a more frequent visitor come the New Year

Seasonal wishes

Celestine & family

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Merry Christmas and much health and happiness in the New Year!

Nice shot of the Castle Tracy! The fireworks came out clear.

Thanks buckifan! I think even the 9 will be a stretch, financially, so I passed on the 8. We just came off a back-to-back on that Magic and were'nt planning to sail again until '09. Then I saw the 11 on the DCL website. Honestly, the kids and I are perfectly happy with the 11 but DH likes the window. I'd rather have that money to do lots of fun things onboard and in the ports.

I guess I"ll keep looking from time to time, see if a 9 opens up and then go from there. My problem with a 9 GTY is that we might get stuck with one on Deck 1 with the 2 small windows and I'd rather not be there. I have a gut feeling we'll stay in our 11 GTY...unless DCL wants to send the Upgrade Fairy our way.

We'll be doing this on Sunday! It is my favorite holiday activity. The house always smells sooooo good!

Stace congrats on the new camera. I was looking at the D40X and the Cannon Xti. I am not one to be carrying around a lot of equipment and therefore went for a bridge camera Olympus SP560. Has a 28-486mm lens with ISO50-6400. I know that I will not get the image quality as you but I don't have room in my suitcase for all of the lenses. I still believe that its not the camera but the photographer.

I agree....which is why I'm excited about taking the classes. I wish I'd known about the Olympus, so that I could have checked it out. I'm not thrilled about dragging the lenses either.....
But isn't that what husbands and sons are for?? ;) ;)

Good Lord I may not have a chance then.

Coral

That's exactly what I thought. We bought the camera, so now I HAVE to finally take the classes.

And I think us "novices" still stand half a chance with a good camera.....at least with digital, we can delete the bad ones! We're bound to get some great shots, though.

Tracy, that's an AWESOME picture!! What kind of camera did you get?

Now to just get me to DLand or WDW so I have some good subject matter!

Well, maybe we will be neighbors! We are cat 11 GTY as well. My parents are coming along (also cat 11 GTY) so, I'm sure our kids will take turns staying with grandma and grandpa....that'll give us a little extra room!

We were upgraded to a cat 9 on our last cruise, stateroom #2000. As far forward as you can be! But I loved the location. Very quiet in my opinion, even though it is listed as a noisy room. My kids LOVED looking out the porthole every morning, but we have already prepared them NOT to expect an upgrade this time. It would be wonderful to recieve, but we're NOT expecting it. :goodvibes

Stacey,

How are your hubbies fingers doing?

He had a follow up with the surgeon yesterday and he's doing really well. They are still swollen from the trauma, and that will take a while to go down. He was told to start soaking them in warm soapy water, to get the stitches to start melting. The doc says the incisions are closed nicely and he'd like to see the stitches melt, rather than have to remove them. There are at least 15 teeny, tiny stitches on the ends of each finger.
He was told to start to "exercise" them....wiggling, making a fist, etc....what little there is to do with them.
He wants to start in working on projects at the shop, but the doctor asked him to give it at least another week. It looked like the doc would have liked him to wait even longer, but I think he knew if he told my husband to wait, he's one of those who would go ahead and do it sooner, anyway. :sad2:
His middle and ring fingers are now the same length as his pinky finger...it will take some getting used to.
