So here is how I spent this weekend. Please pardon the moment of indulgence...
We spent Fri. night-Sat. at the Baltimore Running Festival. It was HUGE! 6,000 people in the 1/2 marathon alone. Kids fun run, marathon 1/2 marathon, 5-K - all pretty much at the same time. Something like 12,000 runners.
I love active people. All the activity is just an excuse to drink! We used to belong to a triathlon club, we met once a week to swim, then drink beer and eat things from the grill. My skate group goes 10-14 miles every Friday night, then ends up at a beer & pizza place.
During the race, the line at the beer cart was about 30 people deep at 10 a.m. (right after the 5K). As the lead singer of hte band commented: "Some of you people have trained for months just for an excuse to drink outside in the middle of the morning."
Anyway, we made the trip because DH has to submit a time for the WDW marathon in January. After running the 1/2 marathon this weekend he wants me to make him a t-shirt for the WDW full.
"My family went to Disney & all I got was these lousy leg cramps"
The kids ran the fun run too. Here are my guys:
DS9 (in shorts) came in about 15th in the 8-12yo 1/2 mile run.
DS7 also ran the 8-12yo race and came in about the middle of the pack (maybe 200 kids)
yeah, that's about the same face I make when I run!
And just because I'm clogging up the thread with photos - here's DH & I leaving for our Birthaversary dinner last week.
