Okay, now you have me curious.:confused3 Just how much is Princeton????? My DS went to a private college (he is close or is a genius) and the first year tuition was $10,100 for his first year. By the time he was a senior, tuition was at $16,500.:rolleyes1 This all happened 20 years ago.
$47,000.00+:scared:

However, they offer awesome grants. If you can only pay $10,000, they'll offer a grant to cover the balance.

Be prepared to have some fairly serious student loans by the time he graduates (even with the financial aid).

They don't do loans.:woohoo:

I'm still paying off my student loans.:sad1:

I wasn't going to post this because of the public nature of the boards, but in light of the recent discussions, here goes:

Had to drop out of chat suddenly on Friday. DS began telling me all the ways he had thought about harming himself that day. He didn't want to get in trouble anymore and decided if he killed himself, he wouldn't get in trouble. Spent that evening in the ER where the head of child psychology determined he was fit to go home. The thoughts (no actions so far, just expressing his thoughts) of hurting himself kept up all weekend, and intensified when we were meeting with his psychiatrist yesteray. They admitted him to the ER right away and finally found a spot at a crisis facility late that evening.

For now he's in for a minimum of 3 days. The doctors will determine if he needs to be in longer. They are already telling me that 3 days is usually not enough time to do a good evaluation.

While I'm devastated that my son was so distraught to think of hurting himself, I am so relieved that he never acted on those thoughts. And I am encouraged that maybe we can finally get all the agression, disobedience, and apparently depression under control.

I keep both of you in my prayers.:grouphug:

I didn't go to an Ivy League school -- I went to a Kudzu League school.

So did I.:thumbsup2

Kudzu League :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Were your born with a plastic spoon in your mouth?

Aww how did you know....?

I just wanted to let everyone know Castoff alias Tina will be having surgery on Friday.

  Thoughts, Prayers, and PD.... I don't think i've ever had to be so religious before as in the past few months....

By the way what is WMRT?

I had a strange reaction to Zoloft so I had to stop it. Only got as far as 3 days on a starter dose.:confused3

WMRT is a walmart code from their road atlas for anyone.

I am one of the "no-ones" allergic to zoloft too.... I got hives from it about two weeks into treatment.

The only pill i found that brought my close to happy (or at least not so sad)
was Lexapro. My life was pretty crappy a couple years ago. (ok and a couple years before that too)

My wise PCP said to me when i asked her for help that "Everyone has hard times and could benefit greatly from some pharmaceutical assistance." She even admitted to me that she was on them for a few months when going through some rough times. The toughest part is knowing when it's time to need be afraid to ask for them.

:scared1: Is that $47K per year? :scared1:

I was lucky to graduate from PSU with only $12K total in loans for 4 yrs. I worked every summer and only borrowed the bare minimum for loans. (OK and ate a lot of mac'n'cheese and ramen noodles) I had some scholarships that helped greatly and minimal work study. However, my major had alot of "stuff" costs during the year like art supplies, photo fees, and copy fees (engineering copies that is.)

The worst year $ wise was my senior year in college as i had to come up with an additional $75 per week for child care (in addition to the $50 per week subsidy i got). I guess i should be lucky...Infant child care here in DC is around $256-300 per week for one infant.

Actually, it was a spork. We couldn't afford spoons AND forks.

A spork, eh? ....

( loud muted guffaws, followed by an echoing burp )

My DD went to a private college here in Orlando. She was given many grants etc. Dummy gave it up for her then husband on misgiven advice.(actually he just wanted her all to himself)
Now she is finishing up at night at their business school and will have a really big bill to pay at the end. The best advice I can give you is to research all the grants, scholarships etc and apply fo as much as you can. :thumbsup2

Thanks, as you can prob tell, I haven't rented a car before. Yes the Zoloft gave me a really bad case of rolling panic attacks at work and had to go home.He offered another choice but I declined. But I think I need to bring it up again.I just think some drugs work for some and others just have to play around til they get the right combination. I just changed one of my meds and I am curious to see how it is working when I see him at the end of the month.

Well it is my Friday and have to get outta here.......The sun is shining and hopefully no more rain.:goodvibes

Before the cheap Japanese imports starting coming into the country (during the 1980s) a car would cost about as much as a house so I'm told. People would take great care of their treasured and expensive possession. Probably why the hot rods/vintage cars are in such good condition.

I remember my grandparents car was in pristine condition though it wasn't a hot rod or vintage, it was just a plain sedan. Apparently as soon as they got it, they covered the seats with crocheted covers and kept it immaculate. They never went hardly anywhere in and when they eventually decided to get a newer one, the older one was still virtually in new condition, albeit 15 years old. My aunt bought it from them and the first day out, my cousins spilled their chocolate icecream on the freshly uncovered seats. The following week someone crashed into them and totalled the car - luckily no one was hurt. Maybe it was bad karma for removing the crocheted covers:rotfl2:

Sorry to hear about the "bad karma"....

Alas, I was involved with the "recovery" of a classic car for restoration with Alicia's cousin's husband. We drove huge distances to regotiate the deal - bring the car to port and ship it back to Hawaii. Here it is with its' proud restorer after 4 years of part time labor:

When we got it, it was completely different. However, that story is too lengthy to recant here. At any rate = there it is.

Just wanted to add my thanks to everyone for the cakes....

The all were so "me".

If anyone has any tips/words of wisdom about Princeton, please share them.

Ivy League doesn't mean you get all your "smarts" in school....

Golf cart joyride leads to 2 arrests

PRINCETON BOROUGH -- Two Princeton University students have been arrested in connection with a golf cart crash on Roper Lane in which the driver of the vehicle was allegedly intoxicated, police said.

Martin Jancik, 21, was at the wheel of the cart at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday when it crashed in front of borough Police Officer Daniel Chitren's police car, the police department said.

Jancik, a member of the university's football team, was thrown from the overturned vehicle and his passenger, Ariel Rogers, 21, fled the scene on foot and did not heed Chitren's orders to stay, police said.

Chitren detained Jancik, who was not hurt, and charged him with drunken driving. He was released from police headquarters a short time later on his own recognizance.

Jancik, who is originally from Lake Oswego, Ore., was on last year's Ivy League champion football team, but was hurt in the off season and is not on the active roster this season. He handles filming and video responsibilities for the team, an athletics department spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Rogers, who ran in into the heart of the campus, was arrested later Sunday and charged with obstructing the administration of law.

Rogers, from Evanston, Ill., was also released on her own recognizance.

Both suspects are members of Princeton Class of 2008.

A few years ago...

... a couple of kids got hold of a golf cart and drove it aound our daughters' elementary school. Causing a fair amount of damage to the grounds - they were caught and released. ONe of the parents paid for all the repairs naturally.

WHat is it with kids and golf carts? THIS is why kids / teens are not ready to drive. It only takes ONE to drink and drive - and get into a serious accident harming either themselves or other innocents. And even in the absence of drinking - a sober teen can be just as much a hazard from either inaction in the face of drunken "friends" or irresponsible conduct from their friends.

That said... on occassion "I" should have my driving privilages suspended for the things I've done (voluntarily or involuntarily) in the past. HOWEVER, since having freshly reaffirmed my understanding of the hazards driving poses - I proclaim possession of the high ground again. <chuckles>

Best is - we should try to teach our kids to be responsible and very very careful about thier driving plus consider who they ride around town with. It seems the routine now a days as opposed to denying kids driving privilages. I bet the Auto Repair, Auto Manufacturers, and various special interests who benefit otherewise are certain to obstruct any legislation that would completely deny 16-17-18 year olds the privilage of driving. The collected victims are not organized or funded well enough to bring about meaningful change.

Strange how more and more it seems to me drivers are gradually getting worse and worse out there.

Of course, we are still waiting for Crash's first non-fluff post.....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Okay I know I'm odd, but I think the Ronald McDonald baby is kinda cute! I'm just wondering if it was computer generated or did they really put all that eye make-up on a little baby? That would just be cruel!

BTW - the Page Museum was very enlightening for my daughter - but too small tomake a trip of it. So we blew Dodge and hit the beach on the way home - got a bunch of beautiful sunset photos - which I'll edit in later tonite after the kids are asleep.

Love those pics of your DD & the beach! It looks so serene!

Just wanted to add my thanks to everyone for the cakes....

The all were so "me".

Actually all of the pictures of the cakes have started to make me very hungry. I want to go home and bake or stop off at the grocery store and buy something sweet. Happy Birthday!

OK, that's just wrong - on oh so many levels....

Somebody on Madison Avenue should be shot.

Do you want fries with your phobia?

i'm so glad i wasn't alone in feeling that way! LOL!!

happy over the hump day everyone! i can't wait til friday!! nothing like wishing the time away!

Hello good evening, hope everyone is ok.

How are you Andrew???? Its been a long time.:sad2: I guess maybe you actually have to work???:goodvibes How is the family.
Our dollar has even dropped more. I can see why you paid off your trip. :rotfl2: ;)

Just bought the M's Halloween costumes. Their costumes are doing double duty - this Halloween and the TOAL. Megan is going to be the pirate Elizabeth Swann and Miranda is the oriental Elizabeth Swann. Did not get the greatest deal, but I got 'em.
Another thing down.

Anyone read on the main board that you can now pre-pay your gratuities? One less thing depleting my onboard acct? Count me in! :thumbsup2 That means more Bahama Mamas baby! :cool1:

I know I know I'm still paying for them, but it just makes it a little less painful when DH sees that final bill! :rolleyes1

Our pirate costumes are doing double duty too. We are wearing them for MNSSHP on 11-2 & then for the TOAL! The problem is, I've bought a few things off the internet & I'm not too happy with the quality so far. Some of the stuff I received is very cheap & cheesy looking! I bought a pair of pirate boots that smell like cheap plastic so bad they literally made me nauseous & they weren't inexpensive! :sad2:
