I know that there are a lot of DVC'ers on board. Does anybody know if the points for the 3 hotels at Disneyland are out yet. I was looking on the member site and they didn't have them listed for 2008. (Or I was having a brain fart and just didn't see it) I'm trying to decide if we can afford to spend the points for a Sat night at OKW in January. If the points are similar to 2007, we're in good shape, but if they go up a lot, we probably shouldn't. Of course, if they go up too much, we'll probably stay offsite.

I think MS has them, they just haven't updated the website yet.

Woo Hoo...I just realized that 4 months from today I'll be cruising again!

Looks like she is really enjoying the Mickey pool!

I had an e-mail from our Captain ...Todd...... as they were arriving in Cadiz this morning. All is well and they're having a great time.
Except for one small detail....


There are no Mickey Bars on the ship!!!!




Some sort of problem with the supplier to the Med.

Oh my!! Now we have NEVER had a Mickey bar on DCL, but I imagine there were quite a few disappointed kiddos (and adults) on board!

We all had a great time! But, we did miss Jon and Claire. So, we called them several times a day.

If anyone has been considering doing an ABD I highly reccomend going on one! We hope to do another one soon!!! If I didn't already have over a month of trips planned/deposits paid for next year that is what we would be doing.....

How did you like the Disneyland Hotel? I think that's where we'll stay before the cruise next year. Our kids will be 8, 8, and 11, so I think that's our best choice.

Whoo hoo! Just got the official word they are releasing dad from the hospital!

Wonderful news!

The last time we were in Paris we were traveling with 2 other families - my BIL and my in-laws. We stayed back one morning cuz our kids were pretty slow moving and they went on ahead to explore while we would catch up at the museum we were targeting that day. Well... by the time we got out and were heading towards the museum at the Metro station ... we ran into my SIL sort of in a "girl on a mission" hurry BACK to our hotel. Just slightly behind her we saw her husband (my BIL in trail with his parents). It seems she had just been robbed in the metro! They were all at a busy metro station and 3 of them (BIL and his arents) were clustered at a metro map while my SIL was stand apart waiting. Thats when a bunch of young teens or pre-teens swarmed her and litterially engaged in a "soft" mugging. They made no attempt at being subtle but did not quite attack her. They distracted her roughly and some opened her shoulder purse and she knew they were trying to open it - she yelled as one kid pulled her wallet out of the shoulder purse! Then they all ran in different directions!

Yeah - she was mugged and robbed - and seriously annoyed. They got a little money and some credit cards. No passport though. Good thing - but it was pretty annoying to have happen in a foreign city.

On another note - my Dad was in customs entering Hong Kong on a business buying trip - and his trousers were cut with a razor blade and his wallet was stolen. IN CUSTOMS ... or betwen the walk from the aircraft and Customs!!! Again - money and credit cards but no passport was taken. My spouse and I are relatively vigilante and defensive of our personal space or if we sense we are being watched we watch out. We've so far never been robbed while traveling. Well... I can't recall having ever been robbed in the common sense of the idea.

How horrible for your family members Tom

I grew up in a family business which my parents ran for aout 25 years. When we had an employee on the register it had to count correctly on every shift. Invariably the errors were nice round numbers - $20 or $10.. etc. Anyone who could not maintain correct change was eventually let go. Most of the dollar volume was in checks and charge cards - rarely cash.

Tom, with over 2000 customers a day, I don't ever expect the day to balance to the penny. I wish it did, but as laong as each shift is within $5 or so I am pleased.

M as you can see, if you put me in charge of drinking schedules I quickly loose track of what month it is. Too much pressure.

How did you like the Disneyland Hotel? I think that's where we'll stay before the cruise next year. Our kids will be 8, 8, and 11, so I think that's our best choice.

The DL Hotel is my favorite of the 3 hotels. Paradise Pier (aka the Pan Pacific) is my least favorite, although we've never stayed there. Grand Californian is overpriced in my opinion, but it *is* awfully convenient (and they have a great snack bar).

I don't know why I love the DLH as much as I do - maybe it's the pool (Neverland themed), maybe it's the waterfalls, maybe it's the tinkerbell wallpaper boarder, I dunno - it might even be because it's the original hotel. We loved having concierge access, but I don't know if I'd actually pay for it (we used DVC points). We went up to the lounge each night to watch the fireworks from the lounge (much better with a 4 year old than waiting hours in the hot sun in front of the castle). They piped in the music. The only down side is that you can't see the castle from up there (since it's not in danger of getting suspended for steriod use, like some castles we could mention). We did see Tink fly around though.
