Flights should be about $100 each way. Give or take. Southwest often does Dings for 80-85 from here to there, but they won't show up until a month or two before. I'm planning on booking as soon as the window opens up for our return flight & picking up the SFO/LAX flight when we can.

I would be way happy with $100 flights.
The last time we went to Florida I paid about $275 round trip between MCO & PHL

I don't think Brendan and I will be in costume...We might wear a patch or something but not go all out...

Chrissie
Good to know- thanks!
My youngest two MAY have piratey "costume" things like eye patch and bandana on head and such. But honestly we weren't expecting the kids to eat with us on this cruise. It caused way too many problems (with late dining) for them to eat with us because the club/labs would eat earlier (which meant the kids couldn't go because they'd be eating with us later) and then while we were eating dinner with the kids is when the club/lab did all the fun stuff the kids wanted to do! We're not going to force that issue this time- so they'll be eating with the labs and doing the fun stuff with them while we're dining without them. Point being that they won't be with us at dinner anyway-even on pirates night. We do intend to go get them for the pirate deck party though. The younger two enjoyed that last time and the oldest wished (later) that she'd been there. LOL

We are planning on doing laundry as well...I am worried about luggage space because I am a shopper! And between DL (may mail stuff home b4 cruise) and a cruise..I need all the space I can get!
I think our room is next to the laundry...so I think it would be simple to do laundry at random times!

Chrissie
Where exactly are the laundry rooms?

Okay, we will not be in full out pirate costumes - I do know how to sew but no one in my house would even wear them I am sure. The kids will have their Captain Jack hats they got at the World in Jan. We will all be wearing jeans and our pirate shirts we got from St. Maarten in 2006. That will make for a nice photo and sort of match the one we got taken in Jan. 2007
See above- about what my kids may wear but they won't be dining with us anyway.

I couldn't resist buying the ring for DW (her b-day is in 3 weeks) and they also had some POTC silver earrings :cool1:

Andy
Oh I want it! LOL

Yes, you can. And you'll have room in the bags for the booty at the end of the trip. How?

Disposable underwear and socks!

Yeah right, you're the only person that thought about that little trick :thumbsup2
No way am I wearing disposalbe undergarments. I hope you were kidding. LOL

Just a quick hello to everyone. Hope things settle down a little after DD starts school next week.:surfweb: Have a very overdue Doctor's appt. today. I don't like the fact of having to see somebody new but oh well.:rolleyes1

Hope all is well with everyone and..............I just want to add that I will be bringing glow in the dark bracelets. I will hand out on first dis-meet, thought we could wear for pirate night. Any idea on how many???? Kids first then adults. It's on me, so far I have 75.:goodvibes

Oh and yes I have been busy working on puzzle, I am ahead of DD.:rotfl2: We are still working on fish mail, since there will be alot of it.:)

How nice of you!
NO clue how many kids total- but I've got 3. ;)

:lmao:

uhhhh you know you can watch QVC live via your web browser?
http://www.qvc.com/videostream/vid_..._-WATCHQVC&cm_sp=TOOLBOX-_-TOOLBOX-_-WATCHQVC
Not only do you see what's being broadcast on TV, but the web page displays the information page about the item on-air and continuously updtates the page as new items are shown.

Plus, you can go back and see any item during the "show" (like Disney Jewelry, Wed 8/15/2007, 10 AM - 12 PM MT) by clicking on it's link.
good to know!

We should hook up your husband and Brendan. Brendan is a diver and I am not...I keep telling him he needs to dive at least once on this cruise..he is undecided still...

Chrissie
This time if we do "group" dive plans do not leave my husband out! I was too slow realizing they were doing groups and didn't get my husband on the same boat for the last cruise- so he did his own (with his dive buddy.. a son of one of the other DIS'ers on that cruise). But anyway, if y'all plan to go out together- don't forget my husband!

My brother dives too. He will likely be looking for others on the trip to dive with.
Ditto above!

Just quoted this so I can remember to go look at the link. LOL

yes & no... Same die cut, but in gold with some sort of pave thing on the wings. I liked the silver cut outs of Tink you posted this AM, but not $40 worth. I'd have paid $20, tho'.

Wasn't the Mickey Necklace very similar though? Both sterling, I know that.

For those of you who sailed on the 2005 repo - did DCL offer any kind of package or special deal if you flew into CA a few days early and spent some time at the parks? OR if you wanted to stay a few days later and spend time at the World?

We'll but at DL too. So away from home roughly 20 days. I'm thinking 6 days of rotational casual stuff... Dinner will be more difficult with two formal nights and such.

Last trip i had some really nice dresses that packed fairly light (Hopefully i'll be able to find some similar ones in a smaller size next year) but we won't be so lucky with DH's clothes. (he'll probably take three dress pants; two jackets; 3-4 shirts) Luckily i bought him a really nice black suit last year and it looked really nice on formal nights. (ie no need for tux).

Kristina,I am so glad not everyone will be wearing a tux.Dh says a tux is for proms(which he took me to in high school) and weddings. He will be wearing one in February when my son trys one more time to get the right woman.:rotfl2:

Morning everyone.

I haven't been here for a while as I've been ultra-busy in work due to a postal strike with Royal Mail - it's caused a right headache - so I've been working long days and when I get home I'm just too tired.

Fortunately, Royal Mail have resumed talks with the postal workers so I've taken a day off (and it's the local carnival). I've just watched the RAF Red Arrows display team fly past the house.

RedArrows.jpg

The procession through town starts at 19:00 tonight so everyone is looking forward to it.

We fly to WDW on Monday and we are nearly packed - well Helen has nearly packed. We leave home on Saturday and spend two days near Gatwick airport relaxing before the 9:00 hour ordeal across the Atlantic. I haven't told Helen I need to go into work on Saturday morning yet.

This will be the first time we have gone to America withouth Helen taking full advatage of our luggage allowance - we are actually down to three cases; Virgin Atlantic will want to know if she is feeling well.

My nut-free meal has been ordered and Bethan has checked that she will be getting her childs meal as nine hours with her and an adult lasagne is no joke whatsoever.

It's ironic that with all your talk of passports I've just countersigned a passport for a friend (as I'm a Civil Servant, I'm allowed to do this) and have to drop this back to him before we leave.

We've planned into our schedule in WDW the meet that Peter is organising and also the meet in the Earl of Sandwich but for that one, it will only be for about 30 minutes as this will be on our return journey to the airport.

For my birthday on the 1st of September, we plan to go to Le Cellier as we did last year and also intend doing post-cruise, next year, and then outside to watch Illuminations - perfect !!

Anyway, I hope to call-back before we leave so until then .......

David

David, I love the picture!!!!!What a beautiful sight.

I am so glad you called. I was going to send a search party out for you.:rotfl2: Stephanie and I talked later that day. We had a marathon of four hours!!!Good thing I did not talk to Helen that long or you would not afford to go to EBPC trip.:lmao:

Have a great birthday. Save some of the cheese soup for DH and me on Sept.4 at Le Cellier. At least 30 minutes is better than nothing!!!! I will pm. you with John's cell number. We will have this on us when we arrive on the 3rd of September. Have a safe and magical time!!! See you on the 3rd.

Mary Ann,
I just had DD (17) renewed in June, you needed 2 checks, one was for $67 to Department of State and the other was for $30 to Postmaster...I am not sure if the rates are the same, but they shouldn't be any higher than that.

Also, she is 17 and I had to be with her to get the passport. I originally tried to send her with my older DD, and they said she had to come back with a parent. That's why it took us about 2 weeks after that to go back, and hers is a little delayed.

With all this talk of passports, so glad we have ours, just waiting for Briana's to arrive.
Debi

That is the same I paid in April.

Hey Tom (and everyone else) thanks for all the passport info...Brendan and I were going to wait til January to get ours but after all the info passed on we will start the process once we get back from WDW in September.Chrissie

A wise decision Chrissie. :yay:

Well if its too cold to be wearing flip flops, then maybe you shouldn't be wearing them....

Wow, my 500th post. I know, rookie.

Debi

Congrats Debi on the 500th post.:cool1: We all take baby steps:goodvibes

You know, we have been at WDW in a couple different tropical storms over the years and we kind of like it! Not of course, if you have to fly in/out during it - but for visiting the parks. It always cuts way down on the crowds in the park - we just pull on the ponchos and have fun :thumbsup2

Pamela (pdarrah)

Pamela, I totally agree. When it rains, I have the park to myself.:woohoo: I have my yellow ponchos already out to pack.:yay:

Hey Tina, glad you are back from your trip. Is DH still working those long hours??? What about kids at heart:confused3

Hi Everyone

Txs..

I forgot you were on vacation that long Liz!!! Arlene and I were talking about you. Were your ears ringing???:confused3 Only nice things. I missed the daily weather report.:goodvibes

I did good...only bought one thing, the Hidden Mickey Hoop Earrings.
That showed great will power!!!!;)

I would be way happy with $100 flights.
The last time we went to Florida I paid about $275 round trip between MCO & PHL

Ouch Lisa!!! We usually pay about $200 from Chicago to Orlando for the past 15 years. :thumbsup2

I think I read on this thread that they did. But we weren't aware of it at the time, it would surprise me though if they didn't.:)

Hi all..

Happy Birthday to those that I missed in the past month, PD for all in need..

I have been super busy at work, long hours and stuff, been out of town this week at client sites and now I am trying to ketchup at work... Are we chatting Friday night, I'll try and stop by..

I'm finally caught up (sort of) and now I can't think of what to say:confused3

Hmmm... I'm going to a Keith Urban concert this Friday:cool1:
DH bought the tickets for my birthday back in March, so I've been waiting a long time for my B-day present. :cool1:

Any other Keith Urban fans out there ??

We should hook up your husband and Brendan. Brendan is a diver and I am not...I keep telling him he needs to dive at least once on this cruise..he is undecided still...

Chrissie

DD13 and I will prob. do at least one dive during the repo.

I assume you're going to fly out of PHL and not ILG (New Castle, DE) or ABE? Scratch that...the only way to get a nonstop from the Phila area to SoCal is by going PHL-LAX. There are several nonstop flights PHL-LAX on USAir, Southwest or United.

Bad news everyone...Southwest is NOT a direct flight anymore for any E-W routes. Not Baltimore, not Dulles, Not Philly...Effective this October... A real bummer for me... I'm thinking of trying Jet Blue out of Dulles if they still are doing direct flights. It's bad enough having a 5.5 hr flight. I'd hate to have to add another 2 hrs of travel time.

Any idea what '08 costs might be?
I've used SW, but recently started using AirTran. I like AirTran alot.

I would think Air trans connections would stink though...What something like PHL to ATL to LAX or something equally as bizarre taking 8-9 hrs.

Kristina,I am so glad not everyone will be wearing a tux.

Yes, not a tux but i did by him a tux shirt and bow tie for formal night. I have to see if we have a picture. He did look spiffy.

The last time we went to Florida I paid about $275 round trip between MCO & PHL

In June, we got Airtran PHL to MCO roundtrip non-stops 4 people for under $650 (whatever that divides out to) (see Tom's pirate tips on airfare on website)

For our September trip I got $49 plus taxes each way from BWI to MCO. Total roundtrip is $118.00. I can't drive for that.

Pamela (pdarrah)

As Frances was approaching in 2004, MCO closed 3 days before landfall (they had a lot of damage from Charlie). The parks were empty and the day before landfall (36 hours out), we were at MGM at opening, did ToT RnRC Star Tours and Great Movie Ride, did some shopping then took boat to Epcot, walked on Mission Space and Test Track, did the ball thing (what's that called?) and were back at the American Experience before lunch
