Got home and looked at the mail and DCL sent my son a link to a questionaire. Funny, everyone gets mail but DH who paid for everyones trip. He is starting to think there is a conspiracy against him. I really have to laugh about the whole thing. We are still waiting for his CC card :lmao: Guess I will have to call yet again to see where it is. Did anyone else get the card?

Hey Folks!

Work is about to wind down (Tax Return is about to be filed... actually we are done with the return... just trying to get it efiled now... which is major a pain as e-filing what was an 8000 page return is actually alot more difficult than walking a dozen binders to the IRS office across town).

So time to get back in the DIS thing!

Tom. I love the pics! (tho the wife is nervous about the tropical storms brewing now) as.... we are getting geared up for my 1st DCL Cruise on Aug 26! This cruise is serving as the appetizer to next years TOAL!

I have to re-read thru many of the DIS tips I've seen all over the place.

Hope everyone is well!

Why was all the good info in the 1st post of this thread erased?

I am sure this was covered here somewhere... But if I had to do all that Ketchup... I would own Heinz!

Arlene- we've got NOTHING about CC. I had to call to get our numbers but I'll be darned if I know where I put the paper I wrote the numbers on. I guess I'll have to call again. And when I called last time they said they'd send the stuff out- but they never did!

awww, we'll miss you captain! Have a wonderful vacation and I agree with others- lots of pictures please!!!!

For our September trip I got $49 plus taxes each way from BWI to MCO. Total roundtrip is $118.00. I can't drive for that.
OMG I would faint if we could get tickets that cheap!
DFW to MCO usually costs us in the $300-350pp range!
I was looking for "july" dates (similar to what Aug will be- since Aug isn't a date showing on there yet) and for one way to CA and then from MCO to DFW it's going to be about $250 total... if the prices are the same as now. And I was considering that a bargain considering how much we usually pay for DFW to MCO roundtrip!
With 5 of us- we probably could most definitely drive cheaper -but it takes too much time to drive, stressful with kids, etc.
I WAS considering asking if there is a way to rent a vehicle one way to Ca from Tx... then just fly home (because we have plenty of time to get there in the summer, especially if DH flies in later because he might need to work while we're in DL- but on the return flight we need to hurry to get them back to school). Is there such a thing? I have no idea if rental car companies allow you to take one from Tx and drive to Ca and drop it off there?

I am paying $660 for 4 of us from JFK next week (and I thought that was cheap).... but $49 is a whole new level!

Well in all fairness we are flying into JAX and back from MCO (Jax was $30 less per person and the rental car was like another $80 less than from MCO).

I love a bargain!

Hey Sil are you going to be around for any of the meets? WE have a mini one on Sept 3rd at DTD. Let us know........

Well, I don't have any EXCITING plans to share like going on the Med repo or anything like that. :rotfl2: But...

Today I went to get Ruby's schedule (8th grade/middle school) and they had her schedule ALL messed up. they had her in each advanced class (in G&T) but with a teacher for each class that is in a different "team". Some of you may know that that means but if not- what it is... teachers are on a team. Like a science teacher, math teacher, eng./lg arts teacher, and history teacher- on a team. One of which is the "head" of the team- the person you "go to" if you need to plan a parent/teacher mtg, correspond with all or any of the teachers, etc. They are supposed to have all the teachers within a team- but they had her with each teacher in a different team! That totally wouldn't work- especially if I had to have a parent/teacher meeting (they wouldn't all have the same available time to come if they were all on different teams!) and I have no idea how I'd correspond with any teacher if they weren't on the same team (besides emailing seperately but it just doesn't work well that way- hard to explain).

But not only that- they put her in cheerleading and athletics as her 2 electives- they took her OUT of band and she's 1st chair wind ensemble this year! No way jose! (cheerleading is a class and is supposed to substitute athletics- apparently they had an uproar from tons of kids plus the band and choir directors because all the cheerleaders got stuck on cheerleading and athletics and nixed out of band or choir)
So she had to fix it all the way around. But fortunately Ruby IS with teachers in the same team now and she IS in cheerleading and band... no athletics. (she would like athletics but she's not giving up cheerleading or band and they can only have 2 electives, one has to be either athletics, PE or cheerleading).

We've got a busy couple of days ahead of us- preparing to go camping (near scuba dive lake here in Texas but a few hours from us) and Jeff is going to scuba dive with the Christian Divers of Texas this weekend. But unless we have some "issues", I should still be able to get online because I chose an RV park for us to 'camp' (hardly can call it camping in the luxury of the travel trailer- right?) that has things for me and the kids to do while he's scuba diving about 5mi away. Pool, spa, basketball court, fishing at the lake right there, tennis court, even a fenced area for pets to get exercise (yes, we're taking Tramp with us!) -- but also it has free DirecTv (that means kids can watch cable instead of just watching DVDs on the tv the entire time. Yeah-- disney Channels to keep them entertained late in the evenings!) AND it has free wifi. So I'll be bringing our laptops.

PLEASE PRAY that everything in our trailer still works. It's been sitting a few years totally unused (out at sister's land out in the country) and we have no way of testing to see if the a/c works, fridge, etc. because we don't have a way to hook it up to 30amp until we GET to the RV park... There ain't no way I'm going to spend a couple of nights in that tin box (my affectionate name for it. LOL) without a/c. We're in the 100's here nowadays! Yeah, I never said I was the camping type... LOL
Plus we'll be bringing food and cooking in the travel trailer- things have to work. Yanno? So please pray everything still works... it's just been sitting there. So I hope everything will still work...

I'm not exactly THRILLED to be going camping in the trailer- while Jeff will be scuba diving quite a bit while there... me alone with FOUR kids (yes, we're bringing an extra... niece that is Ruby's age). But the kids really wanted to go camping before school started and Jeff wanted to go scuba diving- so we're doing it all at once. The kids are excited- and HE'S excited- he gets to do a night dive too. :confused3

But if you DON'T hear from me this weekend- starting Friday because we have Ruby's orientation Friday afternoon (and she has to cheer for it too) and that evening/night we're going to the circus then heading straight for the RV park... then it means I couldn't get hooked up on the free wi-fi on our laptops for some reason. LOL

We'll be back Sunday night-but then we're going to Six Flags all day Monday! then next week is a flurry of school related stuff- orientations/etc. Ruby even has to be there (and cheer) for the 6th and 7th grade orientations on 2 different days that week too! Busy bees... busy bees. I'm sure everyone is all busy cramming in all they can for the summer plus preparing for the school year to start...

Arlene , looks like I am going to knock on the door of public relations to get my Castaway Card. I warned DCL I would do that. I even have the address. Does anyone have the phone number of Michael Moore so he could film me doing this!!:lmao: :lmao:

As Frances was approaching in 2004, MCO closed 3 days before landfall (they had a lot of damage from Charlie). The parks were empty and the day before landfall (36 hours out), we were at MGM at opening, did ToT RnRC Star Tours and Great Movie Ride, did some shopping then took boat to Epcot, walked on Mission Space and Test Track, did the ball thing (what's that called?) and were back at the American Experience before lunch

Shelly, You and my DD had the same day. She took her DS to meet the teachers etc, and found out he was placed in all classes that were ESL. Yes they thought he didn't speak english as a first language. :lmao: ( at least she was laughing) Needless to say she will be busy tomorrow trying to iron it out. I'll tell ya never a dull moment around here. The schools really know how to screw up royally. Friday is the meet day for the 2 younger ones. I usually go with her as I sometimes pick them up from school and we like everyone to meet us. I have to keep my fingers crossed they don't mess with her again. She also commented that the principal addressed all the parents and students over the video system and didn't even feel she needed to be there in person?? Also they were telling me she mispronounced quite a few words in her presentation which rambled on and on. That's our crack educational system here in sunny Florida. The kids can't read and those in charge aren't any better.........:scared1:
Should be an interesting year.

I certainly wont be at the meet on the 25th. As I am flying in on the 25th... And, due to my frugality, I'll be flying into JAX. Plus I am staying in PC that night, so going to WL in the afternoon is not happening.

As for the 3rd. What time is it happening? We are planning to do Epcot that day... and its also our last day WDW... so I might be able to stop by for a just a bit...

Sure, car rental companies do one-way rentals all the time. Sometimes there's a one-way drop-off fee but depending on the company and any relationship (read corporate, organization discount or club membership) you may have with them.

When you put in your rental details, just indicate you're going to drop the car off at a different location.

For example, I did a 4 day rental for October from DFW to the Avis location adjacent to Disneyland.

Standard SUV
Chevrolet Trailblazer or similar
rental rate $220.00

OMG I would faint if we could get tickets that cheap!

hey everyone! it's very late, but i finally am caught up for today...so now i'm going to bed!! LOL! hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. and safe travels to those that are leaving us!

no difference in price on a one way rental car in my case.

Budget Rent a Car... full size... 10 days... $199. A steal? No?

Should be an interesting year.

Oh man..that's bad. LOL
I hope it goes better with my younger two next week for meet the teacher. (new school but one that Robert went to half of 1st grade and Ruby went there for 4th grade- they keep changing the districting around here and we did move every few years a couple of times before buying this house). I'm not really worried about my youngest- but my Robert... he's in dual language, GT AND has special needs that require a 'certain' kind of teacher- the teacher can make or break his year in so many ways... (as witnessed by the complete opposite types of teachers he had in 2nd grade and 3rd grade and in each class he acted like a totally different child in all ways). So here's crossing my fingers that they haven't messed his schedule up and like forgot dual language or GT or something- since he is changing schools...

*fingers crossed*
