You're talking about my dh!!! :rotfl:

Yes, his name is the same as one on the *watch list*. American Airlines told me that I shouldn't have our ressies with his -- there is a chance that one of these days he won't be allowed to fly. :scared1:

It takes us at least an hour sometimes longer at the counter before we are allowed through........

Y'all have a great week! The kids and I are headed out on our ABD early tomorrow morning and I still have to finish packing.....

I was going to do it last night but, SOMEONE kept me on the phone for so long that I had to put the charger in to keep talking and I was stuck sitting on the floor instead of in my room ironing and packing! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

See y'all later!

All kidding aside I work for DHS and if your DH name is on a "watch" list you should look into having it removed here is the TSA web site to help you
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/customer/redress/index.shtm

The info you got from the air lines isn't really helpful they should have refered you to TSA at the airport and they would have given you this info

It may not be the same for you guys, but if we visit the USA we need to have at least 6 months left to run on the passport - you may need to check with the TOAL that some of the destinations don't have a similar requirement otherwise your DDs may have problems.

I was just about to say the same thing - many countries require a certain about of time before the expiry - definitely check it out.

First RELAX!

When you go to apply for passport you are going to need both youf birth certificate and marriage license. Because of your circumstances, I would also bring the original marriage license (if you still have it) and the divorce decree and the recent marriage license. I'm sure that the goverment gets situations like this all the time!

Regarding raised seals on birth certificates - mine doesn't have a raised seal on it and I didn't have a problem getting my passport last year. My bc is actually black background with white letters on it, maybe that's why they let it pass.

Good luck!
Okay mine have raised seals. I was commenting to someone ELSE that said they didn't have raised seals on their card sized BC's.

As for the rest of your post- you say relax then say I need to submit things I already stated I don't have! (I may have my divorce papers somewhere- because even after we got divorced child support was still coming out of his check and mailed to me. Funny huh? well it was going to cost over $500 to get that taken off- so we just let it keep coming out of his check and it stopped when he changed jobs about 7yrs ago LOL) But I definitely do not have our first marriage license. I don't know why. Maybe in a fit of depression I threw it away when we got divorced. Who knows. As I said before- all that I know I have is our 2nd marriage license which shows my last name the same as his.
I don't know if it will be different with a passport but I do know that DCL didn't blink when I used a BC that said Shelly and DL that said Shelley on our last cruise... so if worst came to worst and I had a passport that said Shelly- hopefully DCL wouldn't have a problem with it? I dunno.

Happy Birthday Shannon!!!

pirate_birthday.jpg
Very cute- but is Shannon only 4 now? What a big girl she is now. ;)

I didn't need my marriage license when I applied for my passport, I just used bc and driver's license. Also several years ago when we started cruising and needed our bc, I ordered 2 copies of each one. It has always just made me feel better :)
Well that's good. I hope I don't have to submit a marriage license to just confuse the issue.

To book the excursions and your final depost, you need your passport before the 90 days out.
I didn't know that- but I figured I'd want my passport before I paid the cruise off and couldn't cancel at that point anyway (atleast not without penalty). But I figured I could get closer to the end of the year- to make sure we're going to be able to AFFORD the cruise in the first place- and file for the passports and I thought almost 8mo would be plenty of time to get the passports. No one has ever had it take over 8mo have they?!?
part of me was hoping we wouldn't HAVE to have passports- but I had really figured I'd get them just in case. Because if the worst happened and we couldn't go on this cruise next summer- we'd go to Jamaica (this time with the kids) next summer instead (much cheaper- so if we couldn't afford this cruise we could still afford Jamaica) and we'd all need passports to fly there anyway. Even if we can afford the cruise next summer- most likely we'd go to Jamaica in '09.. so I'd planned on getting them anyway.

Anything can throw DCL for a loop.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Are you back from trip?????? :confused3 Did you have a great time??? Tell me what was knew and interesting???:confused3 Did you see the Dream Squad??? I guess that is enough questions this post.:lmao:

No, we're leaving this morning. Although with the current weather in Chicago, I am sure our flight will be significantly delayed. (Considering even little drops of rain cause hour delays at O'Hare).

I'll report back when we return in a few weeks. Sorry I won't make the meet on 8/25 but we are leaving on 8/23.

When you go to apply for passport you are going to need both youf birth certificate and marriage license.

i hope not. In PA (ok at least the county i got married in), you don't get your license back. i think the church i got married in keeps a copy though. (Cause i worked there for a few years as an admin.;) )

I am applying for ours after x-mas. DD and i have never had one. DH had one but it lapsed about 5-6 years ago.

That'll give us 5-6 months. I'm ok with that.

When we played THE OSU in 1999, we went into the locker room tied at halftime, the OU fans were acting like we had won the game.... I think it was because most OU fans usually left after halftime in Athens.:rotfl: Of course, OU Coach Jim Grobe called a fake punt that even the OSU cheerleaders knew was coming...it got stuffed and then OSU really cleaned us up.

None-the-less...I'll be a that game hoping it's not too embarrassing. I'll be a small green spot in a see of red and silver :rolleyes1 .

That will make it easy for me to find you....:goodvibes

I renewed DD passport nearly 15 weeks ago. We're suppose to be travelling on the repo this Friday and her passport still has not arrived yet!:confused3  :headache:

Call today, wait out the hold and don't take no for an answer!

Good luck

I hope this will help some of the concerns/comments from last few pages.... (note there is a specific form for non-custodial parents to complete)

DCL requirements/recommendations:

At Disney Cruise Line, we ask that you provide your passport number at least 75 days prior to the start of your vacation in your Guest Information Form in My Online Check-In. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to acquire proper citizenship documentation (passport and/or green card). Those without proper documentation at time of departure will be denied boarding.

US Dept of State requirements:

Present Proof of U.S. Citizenship

All documentation submitted as evidence of U.S. Citizenship will be returned with the issued passport. See Processing Times . You may prove U.S. Citizenship with any one of the following:

  • Previous U.S. Passport (mutilated, altered, or damaged passports are not acceptable as evidence of U.S. citizenship.)
  • Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state
NOTE: A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar’s signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. Please note that some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes.

---- These are the "requirements," while some people may get through without them, you need to be prepared for this ----

Also, proof of identity is required. While a certified copy of the marriage certificate is not "required," if they reject any of your proof of ID, the certified marriage certificate can be used to "cure" the problem.

One important note, if your last passport was issued, not expired, more than 15 years ago or if you have never had one, you must go in person to a passport agency or passport acceptance facility.

For children under the age of 14 -

  1. Both parents must appear with child, or
  2. One parent must sign a consent to get passport form and other parent appear with child, (form on link above) or
  3. One parent appears with child with evidence of "sole authority to apply," e.g. divorce order with specific passport language.

Think of the following:

  • Have you ever had a problem with a local zoning/planning/construction office?
  • Have you ever had problems with taxing authority (e.g. IRS or local property tax)?
  • Have you ever had problems with your Dept. of Motor Vehicles?
  • Have you ever had a problem with any government agency?

If you can answer yes to any of those or know someone who can, remember in getting a passport, you are dealing with the same type of government employees/laws/regulations that may have caused the above issues/problems.

I hope that if you chose to wait until January, there are no issues with documentation that will cause you fits and extra (expedited) fees.

As far as getting copies of birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc., every state has a public records office with this type of stuff and most states let you go to county/town where it was obtained originally. If you don't have copies of original marriage certificates, you will need it next time you go to renew your driver's license in most states and if they implement the REAL ID, you will need it in every state, can't hurt to start tracking down. Also, when ordering these, it is often cheaper to get a second copy with the original so you can have one in a safe or deposit box and another in your files.

From DCL website:

On October 4, 2006, the U.S. Government extended the deadline for Guests to obtain passports for sea travel to the Caribbean, including the Bahamas and Mexico. The deadline is now expected to be as early as January 2008. Please note, however, that recent legislative changes may permit an even later deadline depending on whether certain requirements are in place by January 1, 2008.

Important note for TOAL, Caretagena, Columbia is not included in the Caribbean.

Therefore, passports are mandatory for EB Repo cruise.

One other consideration is that if you ever need to evacuate or return home in an emergency, if you are not close to a Caribbean port, you will need a passport (think that if you had to get off on Canal crossing....)

Sorry, missed the part where you said you didn't have the info. You best bet is probably to call and find out exactly what you do or don't need for your particular situation.

Regarding the birth certificate, that wasn't directed at you but a statement in general. Sorry that you felt it was directed at you.

all this talk of passports, I dug out ours yesterday. Seems DD's expires in October, not December like I had, for some reason, thought.

I guess it doesn't matter because to renew an "under 16" passport seems to be the same procedure as a new passport. I am hoping it is not the same price - still digging around

Usually safe to assume that with government, the fee is always "more"

:lmao: :lmao:

Chrissie

Sox is a good start :lmao: :lmao: . It's so hot down there you probably won't need much else.

Thanks.....No rum punch lately though. I discovered i was gaining about three pounds after every pool party and ladies night. It seems it doesn't take long for that 140 calories/5 gr fat/per TBL in the coconut stuff to catch up with ya. THere's a WHOLE CAN of that stuff in every batch - UGH :headache: .

Well, off to wash down the walls with vinager. I took the wallpaper off last week (I will never wallpaper ANYTHING again) and have to prep for painting. It is so nice here today, want to get it down before it gets hot again.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!
