Well, my downfall isn't sweets - its a slower metabolism AND pasta & wine. As long as I exercise & avoid pasta I can do okay. Well, the wine is out now too. (for now) I left my roller-blades in So. CA - so its dog walking & staying on my work-out routine. And salads - lots of salads.
I didn't realize our metabolism slows as we get older - I sure do now!

My downfall is some sweets, but really gets me in trouble is cheese. I just love it soooo much but it's not good for my cholestrol.:rolleyes1 The one thing about moving to Chicago is and it's sad for me to say this but it's the truth...................I have had more exercise in 2 weeks then I have had in 6 months.

There's a lot to the story, but I'll just stick with: we had 2 cars, we had a 22' sailboat that I wasn't ready to sell, I was pregnant with oldest DS (born Aug. 30) & we had to move from San Diego to St. Pete. So we each drove a car, DH pulled the boat, the boat shifted on the trailer in Las Vegas (where they had never seen a sailboat before), and we drove through the deep south in July. We stopped off in Vegas (where DH ran something called the Mojave Death Race), Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, made a left turn in Albuquerque, Graceland, Vicksburg & New Orleans. In about Memphis, I started swelling. By the time we hit FL my legs were the same size from the top of my thighs to my toes, and I had carpal tunnel so my fingers stopped working by New Orleans. Oh yeah, the one and only time I've ever been to both Vegas and New Orleans, I was pregnant! When I went to my 36 week appointment the doc told me to pack a bag because it could be any time, I hadn't unpacked from the trip let alone my household goods & we had nothing for the baby!

I know I've posted it before, but I love this one:

I had terrible swelling in my legs when I was pregnant with my Drew, too. Yeah, no knee or ankle indentations....lovely. It was due to Preeclampsia (Toxemia). Dh could poke my leg and the dent would stay there....then SLOWLY fill make in. I remember him saying "Wow! You're like Silly Putty!" Nice. Just what a pregnant woman wants to hear.

After the past few days of high temps, humidity and dew points in the 70's, today is absolutely BEAUTIFUL here!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Now, it's time to get ready for work........

Glad your getting a break from the heat Andy.:thumbsup2

Sacramento set a new weather record today. Rain fall. 0.01"!! (yeup - one one hundredth of an inch :rotfl2: ) We had a thunderstorm last night that dropped a little rain. A very little rain.

I was on the news tonight. The mandatory spay / neuter bill was pulled from the legislature today. They wanted reaction from a local breeder and somehow I got pinged. I gave them lots of great ideas on how to solve the problem, that doesn't require additional legislation. And what goes on air? Local breeder doesn't want to pay increased fees. Pthththt.

I think they just wanted to get background footage of the dogs playing in the backyard.

Gotta love how they edit things :rotfl2:

'Morning All :surfweb: - Going to try to ketchup (I failed miserably yesterday)

Just to share some good news for a change.................Finally yesterday my bank accounts were closed in NY and they are sending me a check and on the same day the transfer funds were wired into my new account from my house proceeds. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I have decided to pay off the cruise, one more thing off of my list.:woohoo:

Hello All,

Just thought I would mention this...............Brooke had her doctor's appt. the other day for school. She was given 4 shots !

First time meeting new Doctor and she said Brooke would need Hep. A shot due to upcoming cruise. She goes back in 6 months for the booster.

She also recommended getting " Florastor " It's over the counter and taken twice a day while on the trip prevents you from getting sick. Especially if eating any local foods.

Just thought I would pass this info, along. When DH & I went on our double dip cruise there was alot of talk weather or not to get the Hep. A shot. We did and I already had my booster done. DH didn't get the booster.:sad2:

Thanks for the info, Tina. I was wondering if we needed any special shots for our TOAL. My DD has shot phobia so this should just make her soooo happy

Yes! Yes it is! :thumbsup2

I'm so happy today! I made my reservation for the beginning of Nov. at SSR & my waitlist came thru today! I'm soooo glad we don't have to worry about switching resorts or anything. :woohoo:

Congrats, Diane :woohoo: .

Every day I say I'm going to start tomorrow and then that ice cream monster jumps up and then I'm telling myself - you can start after this bowl of ice cream. The worst part is I lost the weight in 2006 and put it back on in 2007. So now tomorrow I'm going to start the Grandma Diet. Both daughters and the two grandchildren (2 & 4) arrive in Florida for a month. I'm hoping chasing after then will kick start this weight loss. All I have to figure out is how to resist the ice cream - for some it's cake -- for me it's ice cream.

Barbara

I have lost and gained back the same 15 pounds for the last two years. I've come to the conclusion I can not use the word "diet". I prefer the phrase "healthy eating", and *sometimes* that actually works :rotfl:

I'm really trying to be good too, but I keep finding excuses to be bad. :rolleyes1

I can certainly relate to that ;)

Oh great, pregnancy stories! What is this Friday night chat?

jk :lmao: :lmao:

Actually my wife had two terrible pregnancies (did I mention we have only 2 kids - get the connection?). Swelling, 9 months of morning sickness, a month plus of "off feet" with second child.

Funny thing was, she goes for "final" checkup right before the first was born. Dr. is very laid back so wife asks "how big do you think he is now." She was concerned since at x# of weeks he was estimated at 6+ lbs and if the books are right and the baby grows 1/2 lb. per week, her math has a whopper of kid. Dr. gets this "oh carp" look on his face and says he wants her to have an ultrasound "to make her feel reassured." We went to ultrasound, the tech does it and goes to the (fill in blank of job title of person who actually interprets the thing) and he sends her back to do it all over (can't be right). The tech is all embarrassed because she has to do it again. After its done, we sit in room for 25 minutes or so and she comes back in and says "Your Dr. would like to see you at 12:30," its 11 at this point.

We get to Dr. after stopping for lunch (he's 10 minutes from ultrasound place) and are immediately ushered to his office. Apparently ultrasound charts only go up to a little under 10 lbs. The measurements for Chris had him at a minimum of 9 lbs 10 oz. but when the extrapolated the actual measurments out, their range was 9.5 to 12 lbs. (Let's say Doc is a bit embarrassed at this point for not taking DW more seriously). After lengthy discussion of risks of large babie and natural delivery, she opted for c-section. Chris came in at 10 lbs 2 oz. (Mitch beat his brother at the birth weight game by 1 oz).

Hey, how about that a swabbie posting a pregnancy story....:confused3 :lmao:

If you have any left over, my reservation number is ********* feel free to pay that too :lmao: :lmao:

Good for you (I have to figure how to pay for June's trip to WDW, bill should be arriving any day)

Happy Thursday!!!!

I like many of you have been trying to shape up before we ship out!

It is the fault of bread and french fries! Why are you sooo good!(ok my fault too!)

Been on a diet plan and recently started working with a personal trainer. I too have a nonexistent metabolism...can I buy one at the store please (with a side of fries?)?

I have been annoyed this week..this sunburn on my back is so sore/uncomfortable I can't lean/put pressure on my back and arm movements are limited. So no trainer this week

I can offer some advice: WATER!!!!
You should have 8/8. But try to up it....I switched from drinking soda(tonic, pop) and water to JUST water. I couldn't believe how much I lost with just that! I drink while I am driving (water that is) or bored etc. I use that as a substitute.

Just a thought....AND good luck to everyone in reaching your goal!
(So we can chow down on our cruise and not feel guilty!Like we would anyway!)

Chrissie

I LOVE his scar too!!! And I like him with long hair and short hair and with facial hair and without facial hair.

Oh.....is it alright that I said all that?? :lmao:

Well he is a FREE PASS right??? :rotfl2:

I don't know, MR, but something about this line reminds me of Dr. Suess.

"I would like him in a box, I would like him with a fox..."

:goodvibes

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Happy Birthday Christopher!!!

:bday: Happy (belated) Birthday :bday:

Hi Karen,, I will just miss you in December I arrive on 12/6 for a long weekend.. but Dh and I are taking the kids for our Anniversary trip Jan 18-22.. maybe we can meet in January..

Did someone say Long weekend at WDW???? :woohoo: :woohoo: ;)

'Morning Chrissie

Are you still slaying the laundry dragon?????

I did give up on the weight loss until I am back from Foodalot. No sense eating less when there are ADRs for all of the wonderful places in the world. Gotta stay in shape for that ! ;) and then when I am back, I will get real REAL serious about losing weight for the TOAL> :rotfl2:

I am very disappointed in the driving school, i had really thought that they taught the kids to drive but my mistake.. They fulfill the State of IL requirements for class hours and the driving is just part of that too. It is up to me to really teach him  plus he told me that they don't cover Parallel parking??

Dial up is SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWWW. I have DSL but it is okay not very reliable at times. like when it rains..

Not bad really that is a 15 minute mile..

Yeah but what about me.. how many gray hairs will I get before this is over??

Yep what he said..

Ice cream is addicting. I need some everyday.. I looked into the ice cream diet but it was only 1 small bowl each day.. My problem is portion control: I think that a half gallon is a single size seving.. Taught my kids to eat out of the carton.. yep each memeber of the family has their own carton.. ;)

YEP me too...

Ok, I am having a senior moment right now. What does ADR mean? I am apologizing now for asking this question!!

Karen

Hey, how about that a swabbie posting a pregnancy story....:confused3 :lmao:

Well, If *my* DH posted my prenancy story it would be all about how his feet hurt because he had to walk back and forth and get ice chips and cold cloths. This is what I had to listen to through my last 12 HOURS of labor. I was like, "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME"!!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
