Actually, I have quite a pile myself, except I have no excuse besides sheer laziness. An since it has cooled off considerably today we will have to wear something besides bathing suits - UGH :rotfl:

I see you were practicing for the cruise? Only were bathing suits?:rotfl:

Chrissie

You are very brave..... I am on our 3rd teenager.... I rode with the other two and it looks like I may have to ride with this one.....One of my dearest friends works at a driving school and I think I may convince her to ride with my dd -- luckily my dd is her dd's best friend! LOL!

My DD Driving Class at HS was the best one yet. Not only did they learn the fundamentals but they actually went out on the street. DS on the other hand went to a different HS. They had one of those little driving courses. Drove on tiny Toyotas. So when I took him out one day in my Cougar.(it had a really long front and very sensitive power brakes) The kid freaked  .Had to take him home.We then took him in the family van which he had a easier time with.

Hello All,
Happy Belated :bday: :cake: to those that I have missed.

Just thought I would mention this...............Brooke had her doctor's appt. the other day for school. She was given 4 shots !

First time meeting new Doctor and she said Brooke would need Hep. A shot due to upcoming cruise. She goes back in 6 months for the booster.

She also recommended getting " Florastor " It's over the counter and taken twice a day while on the trip prevents you from getting sick. Especially if eating any local foods.

Just thought I would pass this info, along. When DH & I went on our double dip cruise there was alot of talk weather or not to get the Hep. A shot. We did and I already had my booster done. DH didn't get the booster.:sad2:
I forgot to ask the Dr at my last visit about the shots. DH is seeing him next month so it's on his list.

My downfall is some sweets, but really gets me in trouble is cheese. I just love it soooo much but it's not good for my cholestrol.:rolleyes1 The one thing about moving to Chicago is and it's sad for me to say this but it's the truth...................I have had more exercise in 2 weeks then I have had in 6 months.
My friend had that 6 week makeover diet book at work one day and we all took the test to see what kind of type you are. Mine came out to not eat cheese. After ice cream, that is my second vice. I often wonder if the book was right. Would be interesting to give it up for a month to see what happens.

Just to share some good news for a change.................Finally yesterday my bank accounts were closed in NY and they are sending me a check and on the same day the transfer funds were wired into my new account from my house proceeds. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I have decided to pay off the cruise, one more thing off of my list.:woohoo:
I'm putting it in my savings acct and will pay it off close to final payment.I'd rather earn the pitiful interest than have DCL earn it.

Oh great, pregnancy stories! What is this Friday night chat?

jk :lmao: :lmao:

Actually my wife had two terrible pregnancies (did I mention we have only 2 kids - get the connection?). Swelling, 9 months of morning sickness, a month plus of "off feet" with second child.

Funny thing was, she goes for "final" checkup right before the first was born. Dr. is very laid back so wife asks "how big do you think he is now." She was concerned since at x# of weeks he was estimated at 6+ lbs and if the books are right and the baby grows 1/2 lb. per week, her math has a whopper of kid. Dr. gets this "oh carp" look on his face and says he wants her to have an ultrasound "to make her feel reassured." We went to ultrasound, the tech does it and goes to the (fill in blank of job title of person who actually interprets the thing) and he sends her back to do it all over (can't be right). The tech is all embarrassed because she has to do it again. After its done, we sit in room for 25 minutes or so and she comes back in and says "Your Dr. would like to see you at 12:30," its 11 at this point.

We get to Dr. after stopping for lunch (he's 10 minutes from ultrasound place) and are immediately ushered to his office. Apparently ultrasound charts only go up to a little under 10 lbs. The measurements for Chris had him at a minimum of 9 lbs 10 oz. but when the extrapolated the actual measurments out, their range was 9.5 to 12 lbs. (Let's say Doc is a bit embarrassed at this point for not taking DW more seriously). After lengthy discussion of risks of large babie and natural delivery, she opted for c-section. Chris came in at 10 lbs 2 oz. (Mitch beat his brother at the birth weight game by 1 oz).

Hey, how about that a swabbie posting a pregnancy story....:confused3 :lmao:

Moral of the story: Drs don't listen to us. They think they have all the answers. I bet he was a bit humbled. Mine kept telling me I was gaining too much weight and eliminated all salt the last month. I actually gained 30 lbs with first and she was 8lbs 2oz. They kept saying she would be around the average 7. So much for the experts. We didn't do the sonograms back then, IN fact they were just coming to be used in the hospitals and only for high risk women. I didn't have it for either of my kids. And he was a teaching Prof at the Hospital as well!!!

Happy Thursday all! It is much cooler today. DD and I will probably go the the street fair after work. It's the 46th annunal Wyandotte Art Street Fair. Some years we go, some we don't. It does mess traffic up though!

DD has a make-up game on Fri. I guess they did play Mon when it was 93*! We didn't go, too hot. The coach gave out a note last night and I was curious what you all thought of this line. "It has been a stressful but pleasurable experience working with your children and I want to thank you for your support." ? That isn't what I would put in a note to parents. This guy coaches little league football, but I think this was the first time he coached girls softball. He's an OK guy, but you can see when he get agitated at the girls, they are 7,8 & 9. Just thought it was kind of insulting.

Wow, Andy those pictures were good. Not the fire, but you know.

Love the birth stories.

That does seem a little strange to put in an end of the year letter to parents. Perhaps there were stressful things going on his personal life, or behind the scenes in the league itself and just came out the wrong way in his letter :confused3

Happy Thursday!!!!

I like many of you have been trying to shape up before we ship out!

It is the fault of brean and french fries! Why are you sooo good!(ok my fault too!)

Been on a diet plan and recently started working with a personal trainer. I too have a nonexistent metabolism...can I buy one at the store please (with a side of fries?)?

I have been annoyed this week..this sunburn on my back is so sore/uncomfortable I can't lean/put pressure on my back and arm movements are limited. So no trainer this week

I can offer some advice: WATER!!!!
You should have 8/8. But try to up it....I switched from drinking soda(tonic, pop) and water to JUST water. I couldn't believe how much I lost with just that! I drink while I am driving (water that is) or bored etc. I use that as a substitute.

Just a thought....AND good luck to everyone in reaching your goal!
(So we can chow down on our cruise and not feel guilty!Like we would anyway!)

Chrissie

OH - Chrissie,
Yes you are so right about water. I notice the difference - and its true that more muscle speeds up the metabolism. I got off my program when I injured my shoulder and felt like a baloon - I puffed up!
I don't care about the scale but how my clothes fit - or right now don't fit!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone. Hope the weather is tolerable for all.

Going to work on my projects - I'm getting stressed as everything is taking longer than I anticipated. Time management - perhaps I need to be more realstic on how long things take.
Bye.

I hear ya, Chris....speaking of time management, I need to get my butt off this computer and get things done around the house. It is not 100 degrees today and I can actually sweep the floor without having to take a shower after :goodvibes

Have a great day !!

You know, you're never a tourist in your own area. :sad2:

Last summer we decided to do something about this! We live in the far West suburbs of Chicago. We are only a couple blocks from a train station that can get us downtown in 45-60 minutes with no fuss. Yet we NEVER seem to actually go there. Soooo, over a long weekend we took a "trip" to Chicago. We stayed 3 nights (4 days) and went to museums, parks, the zoo, etc. It was really fun! (Although museums with DS8 are exhausting :rotfl2: he is very interested in EVERYTHING and it takes forever to get through an exhibit. We spent 2.5 hours at a Leonardo DiVinci exhibit and about 2 hours at King Tut among many others...)

What does a 320lb woman look like in a mini skirt and hot pants?.....:scared1:

I know what it means by being a tourist in your own town. My family is in Syracuse, NY(snow capital) and just recently my sisters and the kids went touring our hometown, the museums, library(classical) and down to an area of town that is up and coming. They had a blast and never realized what we have at home. On another subject of NYC - there were several times when I would get out of work and my sister and I would drive to NYC (4 hour drive) and spend the night and the following day and drive back the next night. Also, we would drive to Tarrytown and take the train to town and see a show, shop go to Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport, Little Italy and Chinatown. Spend a couple of days and then head on home.

Re -Washington, D.C. I have lived here in Williamsburg, VA for 7 yrs and have only been to DC twice. I am three hours away. Well guess what I am meeting my sister and her family up in DC in August(the hottest time to go) and we are going to do some sightseeing stay a couple of days and then come down here to Williamsburg and do the same thing.

Sorry about the rambling!

Karen

Stressful is a strong word to use there....But if you remove that word, the note is nice.

My dh has been co-coaching Kylie's softball team, and the only thing that has been a little "annoying" is that parents aren't telling the coaches when the girls will be absent. Rob works out a line up and who will be playing what positions each week (so they all get equal time playing infield), and then we get to the game only to find 3 or 4 girls missing. Out goes the lineup! And they are scrambling to figure out "Okay, who hasn't gotten to pitch or play first base in a while..." It's just kind of a bummer that parents can't give the coaches a little advanced notice. Then the girls start complaining.......It's hard to please everyone!

But overall, dh has loved coaching this age group. He also coached Kylie's basketball team.....he is really great with the girls....VERY patient!

Ahhhhhh. That's the secret. DS5 loves Crush. I was going to have him get his birthday button in MK, but maybe he'll celebrate his birthday at Epcot instead.
.

He got TONS of attention in Epcot -- when he went to a snack cart to get a soda they gave him a free Coke, the Crush thing, at almost every ride there was a *call* for him! That evening we went to Animal Kingdom (EMH) and the CM's were FANTASTIC!!! He got to ride on Primevil Whirl 8 times (how old he was turning) and they found me waiting for him and let me come up to stand where they do to take pictures and then when it was over they gave him a Ducky WIlliams print of Huey, Dewy & Louie on the ride. They told me that is what they like about EMH, they have time to do fun things like that for the guests! :goodvibes

When I was an exchange student in Finland, by host family asked me how many times I'd visited New York. I grew up in Seattle. They were astonished when I said I've never been. "What? How can you live in the US and not visit NYC?" So I carefully got out a map, measured, and asked them how many times they'd been to Saudi Arabia. "Saudi Arabia? Never! It's too far!" "It's the SAME distance from Seattle to NYC." :rotfl:

I don't think they ever really understood how large the country is until then.

Isn't that funny!!!??!!! Texas is a really large state and I know that many of my relatives from other states (MI, MO, IL, NE, etc...) sometimes forget how big! LOL! I can drive in a straight line for 12 hrs (on an interstate) and still be in TX.

Tina, Hepatitis A vaccine would be the only "shot" that we would probably need to TOAL, only if you are planning on eating the local cuisine. It is not a bad idea to get anyway. Two shots verses Hepatitis A, guess what I choose.

Our girls are required to have Hep A and B for school here in California, so many of your children already have been vaccinated. I need to check with my Infectious Disease doc friend to make sure that nothing else is required. Looking at the CDC travel section we are not at risk of anything else.

Wwhen I went to Yellowstone I bought the annual park pass. Figured it might get us out to door to Yosemite, which is only 2-3 hours away. You know, you're never a tourist in your own area. :sad2:

Yosemite is my favorite National Park!!!! The last time we were in that part of California DH drove several hours out of our way so that I could see Yosemite again -- and we only got to spend about an hour doing that. :sad2:

Liz is this a local thing because I never knew that you had to have special shoes in NY or is this just Ed Sullivan talk. :rotfl2:

I am very disappointed in the driving school, i had really thought that they taught the kids to drive but my mistake.. They fulfill the State of IL requirements for class hours and the driving is just part of that too. It is up to me to really teach him  plus he told me that they don't cover Parallel parking??

Yep! That's about how they work! UGH!

Dial up is SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWWW. I have DSL but it is okay not very reliable at times. like when it rains.....

In the many years that we've had DSL (7 or 8) we've only had a problem a handful of times..... They only started offering Cable modem for our address a few years ago and we didn't want to go through the hassle of changing.

Yeah but what about me.. how many gray hairs will I get before this is over??

DH will tell that every one of his grey hairs is because of the first two kids. :rotfl: :rotfl:
