But I will be down there from November 26th and leaving December 4th. Then again January 10th thru January 20th. I told my family I want to spend my birthday with my main man Mickey then again in March around St. Patrick's Day.

Will anyone be down there during these times?

Karen

Hi Karen,, I will just miss you in December I arrive on 12/6 for a long weekend.. but Dh and I are taking the kids for our Anniversary trip Jan 18-22.. maybe we can meet in January..

Just a short 30 second video of the tank on fire from our TV. This is the first time I used my camera to make a video, sorry but there is no sound on my digital. I hope this link works, first time trying to do this as well. http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/VerandahMan/?action=view&current=b3542a77.flvhttp://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a118/VerandahMan/?action=view&current=b3542a77.flv

Very scary. Especially since there are several large refineries around my area. But we don't get the big electrical storms out here. Very rarely do we have lightning strikes that reach the ground. Heck very rarely do we even get lightning storms.

For some reason, each time I read 'tank on fire' I inserted the word truck, so I was thinking this was a tanker truck on fire. Geez. You never said truck and you never said tanker, not sure why I was reading it that way.

Thanks Roger.....:thumbsup2

I didn't see your post and I just added a link to our local NBC news station a few minutes ago myself.

Andy I think that your pictures are better than the ones on the new station. Hope the wind is going away from you. Keep safe.

Oh - I agree it has been hot - I'm over in Marin & we've actually hit 3 digits. But, the fog cools it off quite a lot. I enjoy heat - just not humdity.
Our family ranch (small one) is south of San Jose - south of Hollister and it is over 100 almost all summer.

man, too hot for me... We live in the hills above the Cow Palace, cool & foggy most of the time (and pretty windy, but I can live with that).

Ranch south of Hollister sounds like a great place to get away.

I love San Francisco  but I was there in June and almost froze to death. I had to go buy a fleece to wear at night.:rolleyes1 I have been in Southern California lots of times. I never realized there is a huge difference in temperatures.

The difference between Northern California & Southern California is the difference between Georgia & Pennsilvania (almost). East Coasters forget (or never did realize that) the state is so big.

That being said, San Francisco is just about in the middle & we (for some reason) don't actually get summer weather during the summer... Usually it's September & October that are the warmest months. Which is why you end up having all those places that sell SF Fleeces in the tourist zones. :hippie:

Not to sound like Mark Twain but we spent last 4th of July in SF and we all had on sweatshirts and longsleeve shirts on and still cold.

:yay: ..we're outta the 66,666...for good...i hope!

LG I couldn't quote your whole post, but I gotta tell ya. You really cracked me up today! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! Another hectic day in the Taylor family - I was called back from work by Lauren's school today. Drove the hour back, getting frustrated as I hit 3 sets of roadworks with single line alternate traffic, met the tractor going the opposite direction on a single track road, and then some Ford focus driver tried to wip me out whilst doing his Michael Schumacher impression! And what for? Gave Lauren some Calpol (liquid paracetamol), she slept for an hour, went to the loo & was then feeling fine - yes, I felt very conned!

Happy birthday Christopher!

Anyone heading to WDW just prior to Thanksgiving? DH & I fly out 14 November for 6 nights sans kids to belatedly celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. If anyone else is out then, it would be really nice to meet up

Enjoy whats left of Wednesday - off to bed as DH is trying to understand baseball as he's just got Setanta on the satellite. It's bad enough with the soccer.....

We just miss you! We'll be there till Nov. 6th. I just miss everyone! :sad1:

A few pics from the oil tank fire. The first pic is of the NBC 10 news helicpoter that was over our house. I saw a total of 4 news helicopters when I got to the interstate overpass. The last pic is the traffic backing up on I-295 near exit 23, which is two blocks to the east of our house.

Holy Smokes that's scary! :scared: Glad to hear nobody was injured! :)

Yes, the wind is blowing the smoke to the east, our house is southwest of the tank farm, so far, so good. The latest I heard is that the refinery will most likely let the fire burn itself out. I drove past the refinery earlier today as I was reading meters in that area.

I can tell you this, when the lightning hit the tank, I nearly jumped out of my chair, that's how loud it was............

Good evening!!!

Yeah Wednesday is over!
I have my washing machine back!!!:laundy:

And

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTOPHER!!!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

BTW Tom and Roger - great photos!
Congrats on the pirate: Monica!

There is a beautiful shrine there -- Our Lady of the Snows. The grounds are just beautiful!

Wow, I've never heard of it. That sort of shocks me. Wish I had time to look for it. We are leaving tomorrow morning. I've spent most of the day visiting great aunts who I still keep in touch with. They are all in their late 80's early 90's. Long day for the kids, but I have really enjoyed it.

My secretary thinks this is Soooo Cooool! :cool1: She is from Edwardsville and I believe her parents both grew up there also. Her father still lives somewhere near there. Does your family know any Fonda's? or Dunsteaders?

I don't, but I'll ask my dad. He graduated from EHS in '64. My mom was a military brat, so she didn't go to school there, but it was always 'home' to her. I don't want to post my maiden name since I'm sure you could become me with that information.
