No bike ride this morning?

Diane has he been playing the Beta version? I have a CD for it that I got at a fan event. I'd be happy to send to you. We have 2 and never even loaded either one.

No Monica he doesn't have it. That's so nice of you to offer! I'll PM you!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

OMG! DS's (who I'm still not speaking with) birthday is today is on his way to Vegas! I already called and wished him a happy birthday - trying to be the maternal mother everyone thinks I'm not - and even asked him to pick up his presents, MIL gave him $100, DD14 got him an LA Dodger's History book and I got him an 80gb video ipod. He didn't bite but now that you mentioned that!

:faint: Oh Lordy - he really wouldn't go that far would he? :worried: I never even thought about that - he's with his girlfriend of 15 months! :worried: :worried: :worried:

Would he???

Ok -missed something but I just want to know - are you all still going to wish me Happy Birthday come my birthday? I sent the info on a pm to the 'webmaster'.

Please - I just want to be wished Happy Birthday by somebody - cause at the rate that I'm going - I'm not getting it from anyone in my family! :worried: :confused3

So you all - make sure you wish me happy birthday and make me feel special ok? Pretty Please? Handsome please?

Thanks!

How's that for subtleness? :rotfl2:

Not to self....DO NOT FORGET LAURA'S BIRTHDAY!!!

Aw sugar knew I forgot something ! Really wanted to make chat, marked on calendar for next week.:)

Be there or be square! ;)

My comment to you ended up as part of my new tag, Jonesing!

My oldest daughter and I are off for Live Earth today in Giants Stadium -- should be a lot of fun. Happy Saturday to everyone.

Nice tag!

Thought I'd share a joke I found in my email this morning that made me giggle....

Man driving down road.
Woman driving on same road in opposite direction.
They pass each other.
Woman yells out window at man, "PIG!"
Man yells out window back at woman, "WITCH!!" (edited to be made DIS friendly)
Man rounds next curve.
Man crashes into HUGE PIG in middle of road and dies.

Thought For the Day: If only men would listen.

Huh? Did you say something Mary Ann? :rotfl2:

Did you say something.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Have you seen the wireless phone commercial where the girl calls up mom to say she's in Vegas with her boyfriend? Mom tell her just don't come back married...the daughter's reply drops out and then mom panics...."Don't make the same mistake I did!" :rotfl:

But don't worry...I'm sure the county clerk's office is way too busy--even though it is open 24 hours on the weekend--and DS will not want to wait in the 112 degree heat because the line is going out the door. :faint:

Oh I feel your frustration :grouphug: I was without a card to use for 2 wweks. You don't realize how much you need one when you don't have it ! I was in the process of moving and switching banks and it was hard for me to always have enough money on me. EVERYTIME I had to get gas, I had to pre-pay. I just hated that............especially trying to guess how much It was going to cost ahead of time.

Four letters for ya man, USAA
Best customer service ever. And you don't have to change banks every time you move.

I have to replace my Check Visa card as the sig strip is totally gone and this is the reason I'm stalling. They did that to us a few years ago when we had trouble with them. This time we will do it one card at a time as we both have a diff # where last time it was the same.

We used BofA before we moved and they were totally fantastic about ordering new cards. I would just call or stop by, the card would arrive in about 4 days, I'd activate it and shred the old one. The soon to be old card was good up until I used the new card in an ATM or called to activate it.

Evidently this teller hadn't processed that many requests to reissue a card just because it was worn out. Had I gone with my banker--the one who established our accounts--he would have taken care of the situation with no problems. But he wasn't in that day and the teller said she could do it... Although I can't shop online, I can at least still get quick cash (though our branch is open Sundays) or shop at Target etc with a PIN transaction.

I thought about USAA but decided on a commercial bank to supplement my credit union accounts. We would have stayed with BofA but there aren't any branches around--even though there are BofA ATMs at most every Diamond Shamrock and Cherry Creek Mall.

SO, YAY!

The sk8ingfam and the jonesings had dinner together last night. Amy and HC are awesome! You know the light-up-his-face smile Nathanael has in both of their sig pictures? Well it isn't just for pictures! The kid smiles like that all the time! He is too cute.

We had a great dinner at a place called The Mason Jar and then drove through Garden of the Gods - very cool rock formations and the sun was setting so the light was perfect for pictures.

I'll post pictures later - my camera cable is in the car along with the rest of my life.

Anyway, I'm glad we got to meet!

Sounds like you had a great time last evening at your mini-meet!!!

I drove through Garden of the Gods back in 1975, then again in 1989, but we did it earlier in the day, I can't imagine how nice it must be there at sunset.

We had a great time! It's too bad is wasn't a little closer to dusk when we went to GotG Park because then they would have been able to see the bats come out. But I think the boys (all of them) had a great time climbing on the rocks in the central garden area.

I'm just glad that Nathan (ours, not theirs) wasn't in too crabby a mood...he's usually a pretty happy kid but there are times (like when he's sleepy) when he can turn into the Grump of the World!
gnasher.gif
Luckily he was in a pretty accomodating mood otherwise M wouldn've have a much different opinion to report! :lmao:

So we may have 2 meets in one month! We're heading to Las Vegas this month so hopefully we can meet up with the Captain and his mateys!

 ..i hate it when i have to actual work @ work,,instead of
surfing...

woow...i can't believe that 1/4 of my total postings ..are here. whooa,
maybe i am "liking you all" too much...* i better hope my lil'miss doesn't
catch me....'foolin around--* i think that's one of the great thing about
cpt. crash.....he is the prefect ready-made excuse. :yay:

...sometimes i got carry away..& expressed what i really think, :rolleyes1

....:cool2: , sk8 & the jonesing...getting together..any new secrets?
interesting tales? [not mentioned]..., jonesing...no one would ever
excused him of not being "colorful"..now if we could only tempt him
out of his shell?

i thought sk8 relvations were very positive...nothing makes a baby happier
then having tlc parents...hey, how's the boys tolerating the romps?
did you guys..."toured" the academy...used to be my home, before
getting marry...* one of my favorite "springs"...was visiting "norad"...
now they have the prefect "doors" ..for keeping unwanted co. &
mother-in-laws..from visiting..you think?

...ok, that pig joke was ... the "awful" truth. my lil miss, ascused
me of not listening..well, that's because she never talks about anything
pretaining to values..like football, rugby, or :love1: . go figure?

ok, you "notre dames"....here's a lil' insightful info...yes, i know how
important your weddings are...since you started practicing ..ever
since you were a lil' princess: . [ one of my most dreadful experience
was being track down by a strong-headed miss who threaten to beat
me "up"...if...i refused to be her "boyfriend"....*marlon b. didn't have an
offer better then, " the non-refusal cause" ] & worst, she even looked a lil'
like a "godfather". do any of you ever experience "terror"? real ones.

...however, what do you notre dames.. think lil'boys are practicing
growing up? maybe getting marry right before the super bowl isn't
such a bad idea...:rolleyes1 & sharing a lil' of the planning would be
good..like the honey moon? :dance3: -like what 's to wear & not?

* we went in the day after..to the crisppie creme donuts..shop,
but atlas, it was closed....sunday. however, the founder's wife was
there...& started up talking { sumthin women are good at }, she
told us all about her grandkids and how "they" started out...ha! :)
because we were such good listners..she went and gave us, a whole
grocery sack..of donuts....pixiedust:

, .. i think there are values in sharing on another's interests...instead
of rushing off. no matter how much your lil'mate is placing ..on yor
plate. i know those donuts hit the spot. :hippie:

 ..i surprised how many of you guys are visiting wdw in august...

here's one of my tips..from our '88 visit...its hot. :confused3 ,who
would have imagined that??? i hope you all decide to share the fun!

* ps, guys..i 'll tell you one great benefit..going in august..if you
pay a lil'attention...lots of the ladies will be wearing..less...so, hanging
around the pic.-taking spots & :flower3: yor assistance...to those
lil'lost wenches,( needing pics takers)...*of course, you might want to add
a lil'padding, just in case yor regular wench...decides to practice her
boxing techniques...but this "does" makes the quel awares more
tolerable. :wizard:

think women rest stops....:rolleyes1, not that "i' ever done such a thing,

just sharing the disney's wealth...not that there anything wrong...with

adding a lil'pirate: spirit, to one's wonderful world of color?

hi! how's ya doing- " :tink:" ? :groom: , pssst, don't forget
thee :mickeybar ! remember , you're in disney!...wow, youth is wasted
on the wrong people?

.......wanta know what i found strange? well besides most of us here...,
..the med cruisers ..not mentioning the pizzas? sure hope andrew &
crew..are having the times of their lives! :thumbsup2 , anyone waiting
for his great pics.? i bet he muching right now ,on italian pizzas.

..i'm glad..mary rose expressed her insights....being not experience in
scam problems..i do trust her reactions are with merits...my wife....is
our master planner....which makes me the follower....but i do that
well..by encouraging her...:cheer2: . i never thought about influencing
others where they want to mess with me....however, i guess that's
the benefit of where i work....learning effective coping skillls &
corrective measures....[i practice what i teach].

interests & hobbies...we sorta scoot across the board..as we have
alot of ground to cover...our boys are into boys stuff, and jordan
has her princess: thing..my wife has choices too, so i am near the
bottom....but i do like watching the characters work their magic...
and interacting with the crew..about their families and their work.
[good and bad].
then seeking out the food! :yay: ..noe do i forget to recognized my
lil'miss flame...all dressed up! ..never know how lucky lil'things can
be...

that's remind me...i didn't give any the wenches any tips? well,
i am ready for action!.....how's about skinny dipping , in the so
call chocolate fountain? if so, i'm "right' there!

good thing.....i toned it down a lil'?..sure don't want to leave the wrong
impression.

i sure do miss our beloved dog, hope the grass is soft and greenier.
hugs are forever, by me!

Evenong all.

For the first time in weeks we've had a day of pure sunshine.

Spent most of the day indoors relaxing though, watching Live Earth from Wembley in London.

Catch you all later.

Hey there! How is the weather in Lubbock lately?
Here in Big D, today is the first day I have felt summer. With the rain/floods it has really kept our temperatures (and the electric) bill down.
It is July and we have not had 1 100 degree day and barely had the 90's. We normally would have over 10 by now.

i sure do miss our beloved dog, hope the grass is soft and greenier.
hugs are forever, by me!

LG, I was so sorry to hear you lost your beloved pet. When we lost our Midnight last year someone sent me a copy of this poem, and I'd like to share it with you.

http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

And now the shovel and hoe are pushing up daisies.

View from the shovel, axe, and hoe's new home...

That's awesome. I LOVE rowing. I love watching Men's 8.......
oh, sorry, you lost me there for a minute.

Dh rowed in college. It was all good.

I rowed too, but attending a single sex school, well, the view wasn't quite so good. Had to wait for the major regattas for that.

Therefore I am going to this concert, by way of the bum's stop at the bus terminal, in a Green day "Kiss me, I'm punk" shirt!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Have fun!!

Well, it's back to the playroom I go. (Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho) I'm through about 1/2 of the cubbies and have been successful in either tossing or donating about 75% of the stuff. :woohoo: (Either DS5 hasn't been paying close attention, or he's letting me toss anything that belongs to big brother. :rolleyes1 )

I'm totally pirating this. But, it was so wonderful you're getting seconds...

This joke is dedicated to al the newlyweds today...

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

OH - he's cute!!!!! :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday?

Thanks Tom - early is appreciated too! (:ssst: not that I'm hinting at it but its between the 22nd and 24th) :rotfl2:

Reminds me of when DD first got married, my DH and DS were at the Motor Vehicle and there was a clerks office across the hall. He went in and asked it there was a way to check the county records. They directed my 15yrold detective to a computer and that's when I got the phone call at work.

We're all just going in the website and entering those bdays on the calendar.

Sorry Andy

OMG! What did you do? This is uncharted territory for me. :scared1: Naw - he really wouldn't would he? But then again - she is 2 1/2 yrs older than him.......sweet girl hope she stays that way.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Andy!

\

Cool - can you resend it on my birthday? (I can never be accused of being coy!) :lmao:

harumph!!! So happy I could help YOU get a tag!!
talktothehand.gif

Irony of ironies huh? I forgot - not sure if I mentioned it yet but MIL & FIL live in Wetmore, CO and my cousin lives in Colorado Springs, just found out recently about her. I went to the GofG last time which was summer of about '95. Haven't been back since. But CO sure is a nice state. MIL goes to the Ice Skating Museum all the time. Haven't been there and I was the one to tell her about it. She'd only be living there part time since about oh - years before that.

Have you seen the wireless phone commercial where the girl calls up mom to say she's in Vegas with her boyfriend? Mom tell her just don't come back married...the daughter's reply drops out and then mom panics...."Don't make the same mistake I did!" :rotfl:

In a strange way Jonesing - that REALLY makes me feel better. Your right - he wouldn't but then again - he would love to make me think. Its a mind game between us sometime. But seriously would guys go that route?

We had a great time! It's too bad is wasn't a little closer to dusk when we went to GotG Park because then they would have been able to see the bats come out. But I think the boys (all of them) had a great time climbing on the rocks in the central garden area.

So we may have 2 meets in one month! We're heading to Las Vegas this month so hopefully we can meet up with the Captain and his mateys!

Oh cool - when are you going? I have been dying to go to Vegas - usually have gone about 3-4 times already but I had to content myself with New Years so far! :upsidedow

Hello Everyone! Well my graduations (2) and 4th of July/Graduations Party are now behind me! TG. I am honestly exhausted to the core of my being. Note to self....do not host a party of a Wednesday when you have to go to work Thurs. and Friday!!!!!!

It was nice chatting last night with you guys. Hopefully I cleared the air about a few things, but I fear I may have confused some of you more.

Suffice is to say, that the concerns of many of us go way beyond the stupid spamming of a few months ago. It's about invasion of privacy, backstabbing, and paranoia. Those who don't know the backstory cannot understand and I appreciate that. But please know, for those of us with strong opinions on the matter of the website security, we have been here from the beginning of the thread (or darn close to it) and if we feel so strongly about it, you guys KNOW US, and therefore, please consider that we must have a darn good reason for feeling as such.

JR you did an excellent job on the website and in record time too!

If opinions are being sought, I believe a person must be an active poster with 50 posts or more to gain access.

I just would like to leave you all with one thought. My DH is not a DISser, although he does participate in DIS events. For months now I have wondered if I want to spend my TOAL looking over my shoulder or trying to avoid certain people or certain groups. Not only don't I want to do that, after spending thousands of dollars on the TOAL, my DH would be furious at me for that. All he says now anyway is "this is suppose to be a vacation right?? Fun right?? And I have to agree.

As I said in chat, I am here on the DIS like a Smurf in the forest...........

Now let's see where I see that quote again............

smurf1.jpg

Mary Rose....

... May I respectfully submit that your DIS Friends and benefactors on the DIS FAR OUTNUMBER any potential malcontents lurking or posting. You have brought numerous chuckles to my visits here on the DIS and it would be an unacceptable loss to the community to see you fade an inch from our community! And, I say lets just stretch out healing hands to accept everyone here in neighborly freindship
- that is, until enough inappropriate remarks draw a moderators attention and prove someone to be worthy of an ejection.

I trust in the greater good of our community and the merits of such. Which should far outweigh any potential mischief. So step forward one and all in confidence... lets' make this a good place to meet and chat, share good will and support one another as needed with good cheer and chuckles as we await the Magics' EBPC embarkation call!

Since 2005 when I first posted til now through 5732+ postings I've seen 10s of 1000s of interesting remarks by well intentioned folks + several 1000 truly entertaining comments, photos and image postings. Not to mention the jewels of commentary that outshine anything I've ever conceived. I won't name names (because I'm having a massive senior moment) but I can say the good feelings I've had here on the DIS have both been numerous and FREE... so to any lurking or any who might be feeling cautious... I say rejoin the community gathered here in good faith and with a postitive attitude. Remember to exercise good care and common sense to maintain reasonable privacy until you are comfortable and certain of how far you might go. Have some fun here getting to know others with like minds and hearts for traveling with Disney on this fine voyage from Coast to Coast through the Panama Canal! And remember to sign up for my Mickey Ice Cream Eating contest! The fastest one with a Mickey Bar wins a mysterious prize of questionable value - broken out by age groups! And every participant shall get an award certificate signed (most likely) by the real Captain of the Magic.

And for the record - I'll go along with the 50 posting thing. It seems reaasonable to me. And for the record I also will go along with any non-conflicting proposals from all (who have 50+ postings). I reserve the right to recant and short circuit my agreement and endorsements! <chuckles>

3222.jpg

Having said all that - I'll now restate that last nite at chat - right after you left I posted on chat that I do believe you are INNOCENT.

<steady silent grins... with 2 fingers crossed behind my back>!

And remember to sign up for my Mickey Ice Cream Eating contest! The fastest one with a Mickey Bar wins a mysterious prize - broken out by age groups!

Is the prize a couple of Excedrin migraine tablets to cure the brain freeze? If so, sign me up!

J-428.gif

No Mike...

... but now that you're mentioning it - I will have my youngest daugher seting up an EXcedrin concession with physician sample sizes for nominal cost. The little one has to repay her cruise fare SOMEHOW and this is a great little idea!

Plus - in your case - I'll tape on a free Excedrin sample to YOUR award certificate. So there - shall I sign you up as a competitor in the teen and up catagory? Or the over the hill group?

And Mike, may I add ... should you capture a Pirate posting by embarkation I'll add a gold star to your award certificate too! Which goes for ANY Swabbie or Wench who sprints in the Mickey Bar race!

m&m's mom,

You ask how is the weather in Lubbock lately?

Lows in the 60's highs in the low 90's

Mild winds, at least for us.

A full years worth of rain in the first 6 months so things are growing that I have never seen grow in this area and my allergies over the last week are going crazy due to it.

Cotton is growing and if it will warm up and won't hail we should have a nice year.

Students have all gone home for the summer and traffic has slowed.

Had a wonderful time last night at a fund raiser for a local foundation that provides scholarships for music education majors. The event was held in the back yard of a local business person with entertainment by David Gaschen who played the Phantom in Switzerland, Germany and on Broadway. Debbie Gravitte who won a Tony for her part in "Jerome Robbins Broadway" but also played many other parts including Mama in "Chicago" on Broadway. DW will tell you I turned very red when, while she was singin "When You're Good To Mama" she came over and sang the tit for tat part to me. Yes It was very hard to keep my eyes up when she was 12 inches away leaning over in a low cut dress singing directly to me and trying to make me look, just to make me blush. The last featured entertainer was Brad Leali and the local jazz band he put together when he stopped touring. Several years ago Brad took the opportunity to stop tourning and started teaching jazz at Texas Tech University Not only did they play, they also provided back up for Debbie and they were great.

Best of all it's $1.50 beer and brauts (sp) at the pool, and if DD will get her chores done we can go.

You asked how the wheather is in Lubbock? I have to say that not only is the wheather in Lubbock great but life in general is great.

I agree ...

Ok, so here is the post on proposals for the website. PM me with any concerns you don't want to share publicly.

1) Access. I propose the following areas of the site be freely available to anyone on the Internet with no user name or password:

a) Itinerary
b) Thread Info
c) Useful Info

My rationale is all of this info has previously been posted here on the DIS and anyone can come to the DIS and view this info without needing a user ID or password.

2) All other areas will be password protected because they will contain personal information. Understand that my reason for doing this is I am concerned about random strangers finding out family details and travel plans. Unfortunately, knowing someone's first name, birthday, etc. can be enough to start stealing someone's identity. I am not doing this to exclude people for any other reason.

Access will be given if you meet the following criteria:

a) Have a valid DIS ID (so we have at least one way of keeping you informed since e-mail addresses can change)
b) Meet the minimum requirements for sending and receiving PMs from the DIS (since this will be the method used to communicate to avoid publishing e-mail addresses where spammers can harvest them)
c) Have provided the information requested on the main page of the site. (We will NOT publish all of this info on the website but in order to be fair, we can't allow you to see someone else's personal info without providing yours in the same way we will not share yours if you don't have access).

Some people have had their personal information removed and access denied to previous versions of the website. I don't know the reasons but I am not sure I can give access to these people. This is causing me a lot of personal turmoil and would welcome your thoughts here.

Some have suggested that prior to having access to the 'personal' parts of the site, you have to have posted to this thread a specific number of times. Let me know if this is how you want to do it. The general information areas would be open to all.

3) Personal Information will be limited to what you are willing to share. I have deleted everything I received from Lisa and will start over with the personal info. I am going to ask that you send in all of the info requested.

If you do NOT tell me what you want displayed, I will display only DIS ID, adults' names, childrens' gender and age (DS13) and hometown.

Otherwise, I will display whatever you ask. Last names will never be shown and hometowns will be sanitized to just major city/state (e.g. "Chicago, IL" for me.

4) We will be looking for people to serve as authors and editors and reviewers of content. Particularly in making sure that links work after they are posted, typing up content and sending it to be posted, etc. Hopefully we can find new site administrators as well. The site uses the Mambo CMS, so if you have any familiarity with that, please let me know.

Ok, anyway, that's the post. I will probably not be around for a little while. Boy Scout camp, daughter's Vacation Bible School and some personal issues will take precedence for me in the coming week
.

I agree! And with that in mind I'd like to offer my "rubber stamp" of approval:

mban877l.jpg

JR, thank you again for all your work.

I will do what I can to keep the site moving. If you want your and your families birthday's posted, add it to the calendar and I will approve as quick as possible.

I agree with the sections that JR is proposing to be public.

Other wise, please consider this. We have about 14 months until the trip. NOTHING, let me repeat, NOTHING on this website needs to be done today, this minute, right now, etc. Lets take our time and discuss things in a rational manner.

One of the really cool/great things about this website is that the content was provided by YOU (each and everyone of YOU). JR did the programming, but the links, the subject matter, the cool pictures, etc. were all pulled from the thread. WE as a group can be proud of this site.

Let's enjoy
!
