There we were in the airport, opening up our suitcases frantically searching for the tickets.

My last DCL (with the geeks) i had a mishaps at the end of our trip.

I checked in our birth certificates and then figured i didn't need them anymore so packed them to the depths of the luggage.

(The last couple trips i thought we only needed our DL's to get back into the country at customs)

Well low and behold the customs agent asked for our BC's too..(Whoops, i had no idea which suitcase they were in)

Now obvious my dd, dh and i all look American but i guess the agent could have given us a hard time....

Instead he just asked us all our city/state of birth and let us pass.

In anticipation of our upcoming trip to CC and rainy FL weather, I purchased a waterproof bag for my camera. I have always loved taking underwater photos and surely did not want to miss out on this on our upcoming vacation. Yesterday was a nice day so off to the pool to try it out.

Found that it was difficult aiming since I did not take my prescription mask with me so I could not see the view finder and what I was shooting at. Learned alot about settings though and can not wait until CC for some fishy pictures.

Good job there Roger, I enjoyed the pics!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I had to say....

This story is at one moment sad - then as it unfolds it becomes reassuring in that good has triunphed in emerged from all this - and - more importantly it was the good souls who stepped forward to help Tom & Lynn recover from this potential 25th anniversery disaster which saved the day. I must say... my faith in people of good will has been reaffirmed with this story! Cheers to the service staff at Delta, the shuttle driver who risked a little by running Tom & Lynn to their hotel ... and DCL and the supervisor who helped pull the rabbit out of the hat on the new ressies! Now if only Delta customer service can waive the rules and help out then this will have been a ture miracle of good will from all around!

Well, there is good news and bad news.

The bad is .... We have both shed a lot of tears these last 2 days. Please tell Shane and Laurie we are so sorry we could not continue our trip with them. Laurie lent us her cell phone as they were boarding the plane in Atlanta and it helped us a lot! (We will get it back to her when they return to Phoenix.)

The good news is we met some of the most wonderful people at the Atlanta airport who helped us cope with this disaster. ...... so this very nice lady from Delta's baggage service desk, (she knew our plight), took our baggage claim stubs and went to track them down. She returned about 45 minutes later with our bags! We thanked her and returned to the ticketing area to decide how to get back to Phoenix. By now, we were both extremely exhausted. We had gotten up at 4am in Phoenix and it was after 12am in Atlanta by now. We talked with 2 ticketing attendants and told them what had happened so far and requested how best to get back to Phoenix. One of the attendants would not let us give up. She was so positive we would find the passport and overcame our doom and gloom attitude. She looked up every conceivable phone number in both the Phoenix and Atlanta airports for Delta Lost & Found, TSA lost & Found, airport Lost & Found, airport operations, even the Starbucks in Phoenix's terminal 3. She tried calling all these numbers but either received automated answer messages or negative answers regarding the passport. She would NOT let us give up! She said we should wait until late morning and try the numbers again. We were so sad & tired and all of the comfy chairs in the airport were taken with the holiday passengers sleeping in them! This incredible lady from Delta ticketing would just not let us give up! Our ticket to Barcelona was not refundable and we did not have travel insurance either. She rebooked us on the next flight to Barcelona and even reserved us a seat on a flight via Rome to Palermo on the next day so we could rejoin the ship if we found the passport and could get it in time. Anyway, she gave us a complimentary hotel voucher and a bunch of complimentary 5 minute phone cards, since we did not have the charger for Laurie's cell phone, and said go get some sleep and try again later in the morning. We went to get the free shuttle to the hotel but the phone number for the shuttle was constantly busy! We talked with the driver of a shuttle for another hotel and after hearing our story, she volunteered to take us to our hotel even though she didn't work for them! WOW!!! She dropped us off near our hotel's lobby so as not to be seen and I gave her a nice tip and thanked her for her trouble. We got to our room by 3am and slept until 7:30am. We returned to the airport and retried all the same numbers to no avail but left messages to call us on Laurie's cell phone regarding the passport. We finally decided to call Disney Cruise Lines to see what our options were. Well, the castmembers we spoke with were incredible!!! We asked if we could possibly rebook one of the later cruises using some of the $12,000 we had spent on this one. We were told there was nothing available at first but then one of the supervisors tried again without entering the air travel add-on and surprise!!! For $435 additional perperson we got booked on the July 28th 11-day Med Cruise in a Cat 6 stateroom with a verandah just as we had booked on our previous reservation!!! She also told us not to book a flight back to Phoenix just yet and to call her back in 30 minutes. We went and got coffee and a Danish and called her back after the 30 minutes as requested. When we called back she gave us a confirmation code for tickets back to Phoenix at 4:30pm!!!! Man somebody pinch me! I must be dreaming! First nightmare then WOW!

6.gif

We need to check with Delta but we probably can use our Barcelona tickets on this cruise as well. So, it seems, we will get to the Med after all! We will miss you all terribly but, have a great cruise and we can't wait to hear all about it! While waiting for our flight back to Phoenix we went and had some lunch at the food court. We got a call from Starbucks in Phoenix and they had found Lynn's passport!!! We picked it up when we arrived back last night! So we are ready for July's cruise!

Sorry this was so long, but believe me when I say it was much longer for us!

Tom & Lynn (DisneySpirit)

Time for me to go now... I skipped the s=tar wars con today because there were too many things to do - and family comes 1st ahead of MY interests. We had a B-day party which turned out to be very very nice. Then now we're off to meet my cousin for dinner and the Wicked play - I'm not seeing it as it will just be the older daughter and mom going. I'm watching the younger one then meeting them afterwards.

Adios for now....!:surfweb:

Thanks Andy. Just noticed your sigi there, where is your 3day getaway in 15 days?

I'm flying down to Florida to drive with my mom back up here to Jersey. I didn't want her driving up here by herself. I'm going down on a Tuesday evening and we will be leaving Friday morning to drive back up. My mom is coming up for a couple of weeks, then my nephew will drive back down with her at the end of June or beginning of July, he is staying in Florida to visit with my brother until the beginning of August.

Wow, this is my worst nightmare:eek: Closest thing I had was not as bad though.
We lost plane tickets on our honeymoon when we were trying to island hop to Maui. There we were in the airport, opening up our suitcases frantically searching for the tickets. We finally had to buy new tickets (I think they were only $100-150 apiece at the time, but that was alot of money for us back then:guilty: ) We laugh about it now.

Hi Laurie! What a sad story, but I love seeing you post . . . brings back good memories of our cruise together and sometimes I forget we'll be doing it for 15 days next summer!

Hi Everyone!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! We got home from Atlantic City a little bit ago. Andy Angelina is going to have a wonderful time at the concert tonight. The Borgata Event Center only hold 3,700 people and there wasn't a bad seat in the house! Hope she enjoys! Steely Dan put on a great show last night. We made our "donation" to Atlantic City but only for about $150 and that included a nice dinner and a few rounds of drinks so you can't beat that.

BTW Roger I really enjoyed the wontons :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: (that really made me laugh).

It seems like so long since we've had a three-day weekend and I feel so relaxed I am like mush!

LOL!!! No, but I am following the live report threads, that's where I found the post about the couple from Arizona.

Just got back from dropping Angelina off with my niece. This is Angelina's first concert, I know my niece VJ will take good care of her. VJ's husband will be dropping the two of them off at the Borgata before the concert, and will be there to pick them up after the concert. We'll go back to pick Angelina up tomorrow afternoon before the mass departure of all the shore traffic.

i have been wanting to go to the borgata since it opened maybe someday

I wanted to cry when I started reading that post.:guilty:

I tend to misplace something everytime we're on vacation.:sad2: (ID, credit cards,...)I end up finding them soon after, but the stress is crazy.:scared:

I am SO A**L about the documentation and passports that it drives my DW insane. Losing any of it would be the worst thing in the world because of this possibility happening.

Do you live near me?? :rotfl: I'm in Arlington and we've had a lot of rain this weekend! At least it has been a slow steady rain and not our usual Spring thunderstorms/hail/tornados!!!

Luckily we have a covered patio the width of our house so we can still use the grill! :goodvibes ANd 5dd can still get her fill of playingoutside -- I think she needs at least a hour of outdoors a day. ;)

Just talked to our DS who lives in Mesquite. They are west of Ft Worth at a lake for the weekend. He says it is raining very hard now.

What type of camera and bag are you using, I'm looking at our options for the TOAL.

That would be the one where you booked the one way ticket from MCO to PHL?

Great pic's! We're also curious - DH wants to get something for the TOAL as well.

My camera is an Olympus C-7000 7.1mp point and shoot that I have had for about 3-4 years now. Has all of the manual controls of an SLR but fits in my pocket. Much better cameras on the market now. Since we are going on the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau and Castaway Cay I was quite concerned about cameras, water and sand. So I looked for an underwater housing for my camera but they stopped making them. Plan B, I found a line of waterproof bags that are for cameras with a clear front lense that you can shoot through. The camera is in the bag and you have to push buttons and make adjustment through the plastic but it works. I was willing to give it a try since it was only $34. The bag has a very easy 3 snap closure that is very easy to work and did a great job keeping the water out. I was so impressed that I ordered the one for my video camera. Water, sand and rain just don't mix with cameras. I go the first one at REI but later found a wide variety of them at Amazon. They make them for cameras, phones, IPODs and just general use waterproof bags. here is a picture except the one I got does not have the blue material but is entirely made of clear plastic. Forgot to mention that once something is in the bag it floats. No fear of camera sinking to the bottom.

This is going to be a must on excursions next year and may also help keeping the humidity out when we are down south.
