I wanted to cry when I started reading that post.:guilty:

I tend to misplace something everytime we're on vacation.:sad2: (ID, credit cards,...)I end up finding them soon after, but the stress is crazy.:scared:

If it hadn't been for our DD last August, we would have missed our cruise. I accidently dropped our passports while checking in at the Red Cap stand at Philly Airport. Luckily, Angelina saw the DCL envelope on the ground and said, "Dad, does that belong to us?" Since we were going to be using our passports to get on the ship, we had left our birth certificates at home, and since Angelina was born in Mexico she needed either her passport or Naturalization Papers to board, and the Papers were in the safety deposit box at our local bank. You can only imagine how my heart was racing after I found out I dropped the passports, I kept close watch on them from that moment on.

Jeff is off. If he was able to have the good fortune to be able to work MOnday it would be double time and a half.. I'm hoping they call him in because then he gets 4hrs call in time plus paid double time and a half the hours he works. LOL

It's not like we made any plans this weekend- it's raining cats and dogs here... still. *sigh*

Do you live near me?? :rotfl: I'm in Arlington and we've had a lot of rain this weekend! At least it has been a slow steady rain and not our usual Spring thunderstorms/hail/tornados!!!

Luckily we have a covered patio the width of our house so we can still use the grill! :goodvibes ANd 5dd can still get her fill of playingoutside -- I think she needs at least a hour of outdoors a day. ;)

Hi There Julie

Just sitting here waiting to hear from my niece as to when we can take Angelina to meet up with her. My niece is going to meet us halfway between here and Atlantic City. The BIG "Gwen Stefani" concert is tonight at the Borgata, and Angelina is sooooooooooooooooooooo excited, she can hardly wait for the concert to begin.

She'll have a great time! 16dd was wearing her Gwen Stefani t-shirt yesterday!

G'Mornin' pirate:s

Yesterday was so productive that I didn't have time to DIS!
My garage is a mess, but it is actually an almost organized mess. I went through old paperwork and now hat 3 full grocery bags of stuff to shred. I love electronic financial statements now - less junk for me to stay on top of.
We also pressure washed the front porch so we can paint it tomorrow. The pressure washing took off a lot of the old paint, so now the kids think our porch looks haunted. Kinda funny on a 5yo house!

Our friends arrived in the state a few days early so I have to de-clutter the guest room this morning. Have I mentioned that DH's best friend from college is moving up here and taking over his job? It is pretty cool. They are in temp housing on base 6/1, so I think they are going to stay with us for a few days.

No holidays for us this year...we'll be on the road for July 4th. Kind of a bummer.

Have a great Sunday!!
Ok all - just have to say this. Late last night CBS ran a story on a contact lens cleaner recall. Apparently, the CDC (Atlanta??) has issued a recall due to the fact that some people have been linked to an eye disease.

Thanks for the info Laura. I use store brand, but I checked the lable because store brand is usually made by a name brand. I'm good. But I went to the eye doctor last week & got my yearly admonishment for using store brand and the sample he gave me was AMO. I'm glad I ignored the doc & just put the AMO in the linen closet. Ruining a brand new pair of contacts would not have made me a happy camper.

According to this map, the Disney Magic is sailing "IN" the middle of Spain right now(27-May 0200)..............a little goof up I'd say................

MagicINSpain.png

Oh that can't be good.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Okay ...here are some transformation pictures .....the quailty is not that great ...had the camera set wrong

Awesome Todd! My whole family actually paid attention to the DIS for 2 minutes. My kids are very excited to sail with the real CJS.

Remember, drinking and dressing do not mix.

Oh wait, that came out wrong....

Enjoy your wontons MR!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
What happens in chat stays in chat Rooger!

Finally got around to downloading DD12s pictures from San Francisco 2 weeks ago when she went with Girl Scouts for bridging across the Golden Gate Bridge.

That is too cool!
Beats the heck out of a 3 ft. wooden bridge set up in a church basement!

We need to add:

So sorry to hear of your troubles Tom, but was happy to hear the passport was found and you were able to rebook for later. Looks like you will be sailing with some others from this thread as well in July.

Wow, this is my worst nightmare:eek: Closest thing I had was not as bad though.
We lost plane tickets on our honeymoon when we were trying to island hop to Maui. There we were in the airport, opening up our suitcases frantically searching for the tickets. We finally had to buy new tickets (I think they were only $100-150 apiece at the time, but that was alot of money for us back then:guilty: ) We laugh about it now.

Hello Everyone!

Just checking in to say hi between shifts. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Holiday weekends are always busy in the er. Only the er Gods know why.

Todd, want to see more pictures of your swashbuckling weekend. I'm sure your having a good time.

TTFN!

Good morning folks....

I'd like to share my little tiny story of equipment failure - and in the same motion I'd like to share a HANDFUL of photos from our last DCL voyage - the 11 niter from Sept '06. I was posting to the old cruise meet thread and - here is is...

OK...

... this exercise has just REMINDED me of WHERE my photos are. I have some 6000 photos from - not sure here- the trip or that particular month. I think I had 6700 photos from the cruise because I recall it was a rediculous number! SO ... whats' with my uncertainty? Well... I have several months of newish photos - plus ALL of my older digital photos stored on this near new external hard drive which IS NOT WORKING ANYMORE! I had a buddy evaluate it and he suggested it should be fine - and it is hopefully just a power supply failure. SO all I have to do is transplant the HD to another enclosure and it should work. If NOT... then I'll be paying BIG BUCKS to salvage the data.

I would get warrenty service but I seem to have misplaced the purchase record - and I never sent in the warrenty card because - who ever heard of a hard drive failing? Like,... the MTBF (mean time between failure) was usually something like 250,000 hours... or like (if I am correct) about 50% chance in 10,440 days... which is about 28.6 years. HOWEVER, I've just learned that my particular manufacturer, Western Digital has recently gained a reputation for having external drives with faulty enclosures/power supplies. I was actually pretty ticked off and now I am reminded that I need to get a new enclosure for the thing. Only the annoying thing is the cost for a new enclosure is almost as much for an entire new drive! I know it is penny ante - but with the cascade for dropping prices on electronics this result is no less annoying. SO - I had been waiting for a sale on an enclosure WITHOUT one of those annoying rebates - but kept missing the ad deals when I got around to going out for the ocassional deal. Once I got one (recently) but missed the annoying Frys' rebate deadline - so I had my spouse return it! I will wait rather then get ripped off by a bait and switch deal on a rebate price. Kno what I mean. And I kno... I should have sent the rebate the day I purchased it. Alas, according to the terms of the rebate - I could only send it in within 14 days of purchase - and I had to get the envelope hand cancelled, delivery receipt, and there had to be a full moon out plus cloudless sunrise - otherwise it would be dishonoured. <chuckles>

So now... for any who happen to read down to this point ... here is YOUR reward. I DO have just under 200 DIS specific photos combined with a few (a handful) of photos from the cruise. And here are some links:

Because some types of links are more fun (imbedded slide show, slide show in a pop up window, manual photo view, or a field of 50 thumbnails where you click on just the images of interest to enlarge... so with these different links come different issues to view (your sysytem may like some and not other links)... here are the various links to TWO albums ~ The 1st one is of 120 general images, and the 2nd link is to about 50 mostly from Scotts' Pre Cruise meet:

Well...

...

SO if anyone has any thoughts or opinions on academic red shirting - or on the less intense pace of socializing ... please share them. I'm all ears...

Well, I will tell you that both ways work. You know your child best, so only you can make the ultimate decision. My daughter is small and one of the youngest in her class (12 entering the 8th grade). However, she has been more than able to hold her own. She is an excellent student, an accomplished gymnast, plays the flute well, participates in church activities and is a nice, well rounded individual. However, my sister's daughter (currently 17) was held back prior to kindergarten, and thus is one of the oldest in her class. She too is a well rounded individual (just substitue softball pitcher for gymnast). My sister is a teacher and decided Kristi was not social enough to start Kindergarten, so she held her back and they have been very pleased with their decision. Lisa was (and is) very social, so we are glad we sent her early. I asked Lisa if we were to do it over again, did she wish we had held her back and let her currently be in the sixth grade. She said no, she is glad to be in school were she is. Sorry if not much help, but I just wanted you to know that your decision was not going to "ruin" her life either way - you sound like a good parent, you will make the best decision at the time for your daughter. Good Luck.:thumbsup2

Tom - THANK YOU!   for showing us those pictures. They brought back some wonderful memories of a trip that didn't turn out as as I expected. HOWEVER, I did end up remembering many faces and these brought a smile to my face! :) Thank you for that.

On this trip, ( must admit I am not great at following up after a cruise and especially this one) I'd forgotten some of the activities but the people shots were fantastic - I now understand why you take so many.

Thanks again for showing and I was wondering if I may have your persmission to show this slideshow on one of my other threads. Not sure if someone has posted an image of fish extender. The shots you have are fantastic along with the door designs. That should kick off some wonderful ideas as we hvae serveral scrapbookers onboards.

Let me know.

Thanks

mr. v? was you back at the helm again, sharing a swig of rum..
per disneyv. 's bottle of cpt. morgan? your still the 'bomb"!

ha, just m.!,,,,me> :sail: sailing .....& dreaming....it was very self
evident..i would never be the same...if i knocked, [for the
better..if the lil'miss cutie ...did not entered the pic..pirate: ].
there were all kinds of warnings plastered on the door..coins-dence? ,
disney adopted a more restrictive policy.."you" lil rule changer-:rolleyes1

as for the others a wondering & scratchin their ....heads or whatever!

....remember? tippo,* i make haste, away from our cabin..the "bewitchin'
hour~ { give a minute or 2}, before dining. soo to pass the time, i
"wonder" around the mickey's boat-exploring & a lil'socializing...:flower3: .
& this was the first time in all our cruises of coming across the walt's
suit....so one can imagined the temptations...seeing all the delightful,
eye~popping door decorations....in an instance, i knew my kinds of
:dance3:. :dance3: ....troubleland, for my self control measures
..hate to myself on one of those date line shows....or worst, cheaters-
:scared1: ..let say in those areas, my lil'miss can be a " :sulley: " ,
and not her happy face.

..all kidding aside, the cabin door was decorated with many artist touches-

:thumbsup2 & :tinker: = me> :donald: with pixiedust:

ok...thanks you guys for taking time to do cabin decorations! to me, its
like making a trail of :tink: ...all around the ship.

......& the older i get, i really find inner beauty very, very attractive
...with or without make up..is irrelant. i really like having fun. just.m.
you are not doing yourself " justice"....i'm sorry i didn't knock..& that
we didn't meet up.

*
seriously though, the more cruises we have done, it seem the more
people practicing rude, aggresive, and even offensive behaviors...:confused3
don't they know...its a diseny cruise? ...walt's focus points will make it
work..and they are the family values and sharing with others. we have
experienced some very caring-fun loving cruisers..and they really make
us want to come back...to me..they are disney ! :mickeyjum lil' helpers!

now that's a winning team..even a cave cruiser can understand, :lmao:

yep, i was afraid of that..being locked up...for life...hmm,not so bad if
i get one hour a day ..to excerise, and work in a lil'play..stuck forever,
on the mickey's ship....."i hope iam not encouraging any acting out
behaviors?" ....like the pirate: ....mr. brack, :rolleyes1 ..don't think,
it wasn't picked up...the direction regarding the disney brig...&
heading toward old fashioned..chasity belts ~ alternative usages,
so with the same spirit/s....where 'it' isn't over the rainbow, :hippie:
style?

however, i con~fessing, there's nothing i can say..i do indeed talk a'lil
much? [blame my mother....& growing up with too many brothers &
sisters.]..but boy oh girls..we sure had fun!

is there anyone besides me, and our dear pal andrew..wishing we were
on the big red dot..no matter what's underneath her? pirate:

IMHO CJS hasn't been "taken to their end" -maybe for this story but many more stories could come along. Some of the others might be all tied up and taken to their end (and then some.... can't say more for those that haven't seen it yet!) but not CJS!

I also found it quite the full circle that AWE ends with CJS in the same type of vessel that he started COTBP in

Thanks for your thoughts...

... I must confess to having reread your words a couple times to let your thoughts "sink in".... as I reflected on the images. Today with friends I had to open the conversation on this very subject too... and I was reading the articles the owner of the P-school sent home with us. And yes... it seems somewhat as a flip of the coin and less than totally conclusive as to if we gain or lose this or that one way or the other. It's a case of arguing the glass as being half full or half empty it seems. I still find myself mildly confused on the issue. Oh well ... let me read on to see if anyone else had something to say which might help me find a clear understanding.

Thanks again!

Just to add my unique brand of optomism on the subject, you can't win! No matter what you do you will second guess yourself at some point (too old / too young). There also is no 'right' answer. You need to do what you feel is best for your circumstances. Other considerations that shouldn't drive the decision but could help seal a 70% decision:

How does the school structure affect spacing between siblings (e.g. is there a two year or three year middle school and will they be together for one choice).

How does spacing between siblings affect college costs?

Neighborhood friends, does holding back mean that the friends will be split across grades or together?

Sports leagues, do they go by age or grade? Is there a move up/stay back feature?

Will you be moving while they are in school (e.g. changing districts) and will the decision give more challenge to fitting in (e.g. older / younger than classmates)?

You need to look at your circumstances and can the child handle the work, can the parents support the child, etc.

I was always the oldest in my classes, we had Nov 30 cut off and I was Dec baby (back in the day). It never really made a bit of difference. My elementary school next door neighbor was 2 months older than me and a grade ahead until he got held back, that was a bit odd, but no big deal.

bon~us/bonus baby.... i fell like iam making new friends here....:grouphug: ,
that wasn't in my orginal expectation....but the more you all postings,
the more iam :lmao: & :goodvibes .

* i really find it very encouraging..when others are bragging and
seeking good info toward their kids! , i know iam not even
near the perfect parent...so it is comforting seeing others dedication
and seeking the things for their children...i feel, the future will be
in hands of our children...so encouraging stable and rewarding
family values...:thumbsup2

........people buisness...is my work, and to see how society are
neglecting the values of our children..has me busy than i should be....
while we all don't agree all the time, just the idea of pulling toward
doing things right...i feel...will benefit our next generation..after all,
i desired young ladys & gentlemen..for my children to grow with good
peer interactions..."i want grandchildren!"

:sad1: ..well your thoughts were just as beautiful as can be...i am sure
your wife is stoill feeling she is very lucky....i am glad you will eventually
get on...i think it is supportative how so many disers are pulling for you.
:flower3: ...you must be a special person. fyi= i have trouble losing/
forgetting stuff..you're not alone..

here's one more diser' wish for extra pixiedust: !

LOL!!! No, but I am following the live report threads, that's where I found the post about the couple from Arizona.

Just got back from dropping Angelina off with my niece. This is Angelina's first concert, I know my niece VJ will take good care of her. VJ's husband will be dropping the two of them off at the Borgata before the concert, and will be there to pick them up after the concert. We'll go back to pick Angelina up tomorrow afternoon before the mass departure of all the shore traffic.
