Your cruise sounds great as well, but I wanted to do a holiday without hassle, DCL is great but Scilly today, Naples tommorrow, Oblia the next day, Rome the next. And on the sea day try to have a rest on a sunbed???

So a contrast.

I would love to sail out of NY, to the Carribean.

Fingers crossed that Karen and I will be able to post pictures of ourselves together in June . . . this cruise would be pretty lazy -- taxi to the beach in every stop except San Juan, and a walk around Old San Juan there. Four sea days, plus the day we get on the ship.

Still -- I'd take your holiday over mine . . .

Ah but yours starts close to you, and mine is just under two hour flight from here, I have a year off transatlantic flights and I am pleased about that in my current position,

You enjoy your cruise as well, I know caring for family is stressful and takes its toll, you need to recharge those batteries as well as me, enjoy.

I am off now for Tonight TTFN.

OK thanks for that.
I dont have too many issues with it.
I tell ya though it would help crack down on all the illegals here in NY with SC id and plates. Apparantly the ID req in SC are very lax. WHile here in NY I feel as if they want my first born to get a Drivers License.

The real issue for States is the cost of storing all the data you present to prove your id (plus, its kinda big brotherish in some eyes)

There are some states that permit anyone over 18--regardless of legal status--to obtain an ID or DL.

Some would say it's better to have illegal aliens with a legitimate DL (on the assumption they pass a driving test) rather than risk the incident many years ago in Temecula, CA where a coyote was running a batch of people across the border and when they got to the I-15 checkpoint in Fallbrook/Rainbow (just south of Temecula) the 16-year old Mexican driver got spooked, blew through the checkpoint, was chased by the Border Patrol, crashed into a schoolbus and killed several kids.

Others say it provides more security to prevent them from having a DL which, let's face it, is used for a lot more than just proving one has permission from the state to drive a car.

Here in CO they passed some law that requires a person to be a US citizen or lawfully present permanent-resident alien in order to get a DL. Before the law went into effect, they said there was a rash of fake/fraudulent documents being presented to DMV! So now they've gone Draconian in that a <pet peeve> United States passport IS NOT sufficient proof that you are a citizen and thus eligible for a DL!! :headache: :sad2: We are in El Paso County. A guy here said his wife couldn't get a DL from the local county office because she was born in El Paso, Texas and when she presented her birth certificate, the no-nothing DMV weenie assumed it was some kind of forgery and refused to issue her a DL! She wound up having to go to a state-run office and languish in line for 2 hours to get her DL.

Security guru Schneier:
"REAL ID also prohibits states from issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens. This makes no sense, and will only result in these illegal aliens driving without licenses -- which isn't going to help anyone's security. (This is an interesting insecurity, and is a direct result of trying to take a document that is a specific permission to drive an automobile, and turning it into a general identification device.)"

I called DCL this afternoon and made a change for our November cruise. I now have Hazel and I in one cabin, and my mom and Angelina in another cabin, side by side on deck 6. I decided for the few extra dollars it was worth it, plus, Hazel and I are using this cruise to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary!!!   Can you feel the love tonight?

Since I used our Disney CC to pay for the cruise, we received $75.00 OBC for both cabins.......:goodvibes

My mom is coming up to Jersey next month to go camping with my brother Chuck and his family. I'll be flying down on June 13th, to help her with the drive north. I got a Southwest DING special today for $44.00, gotta love those DING specials.........:wizard:

Just arrived home from the dentist, good now for another six months, in fact, my next dental check-up is 5 days after our Wonder cruise in November.

Well, I've got to get busy, and get some bills paid, before Survival comes on. I'll try to check in later this evening.............

Okay so today is a new day and I don't hate humanity today anymore :lmao:

Tonight I had my mani and waxy (no pedi this go around) and first, I can't believe how quickly those three weeks pass, and second, being a woman is HARD WORK!
It's hard to hate humanity on a day when your fingernails look pretty! princess:

Oh puuullllleeeeeeaaaaaazzzzzzeeeeee!!!!!!! Hard work?

You louse around in your special cocoon chairs with that massage your feet (and lordy who knows what else ) while Lithuania brings you a never-empty tray of chocolate truffles, cabana boy Enrique massages your feet and oils your bunions, gender-attractionly ambiguous muscle-stud Lars does your hair while giving a neck massage and perky, cute--but not cuter than you--nail technician Marlisa does your nails all while ice dancing, Oprah and a Lifetime movie of the week play on 50" LCD TVs.
talktothehand.gif

And what, pray tell, do men get? We get to sit in the lawn chair of a guy named "Toothless Mack" who has the one pair of clippers he's been using--and hasn't cleaned--for the past 8 years, a black and white TV with rabbit ears to watch while we get to realize that Mack isn't using a hair spritz, no, that's the sweat flying off his sweaty arms!
yuck.gif

Of course we could try to get more of those SportsClips places where they have big screen TVs and hair techs that could be Hooters waitresses...but then we'd be called pigs, no?

Oh, please tell us what the fossils at work have to say about your nails tomorrow!

Oh M the old goats (I like fossils!) are going to have a field day with me tomorrow. I better darn my armor. :rotfl2:

Fossils!!!

What color did you choose for your mani?

And about my mani....it's funny you should ask. I choose a cheerful pinky/orangy color (or so I thought) I now have Fluroscent Pink Nails. Look pretty horrible and I'll have it for three week :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Had my mani this week too. Picked what I thought was a really pretty coral. It's orange. No, it's yuck. How embarrassing, and I have to look at it for two weeks.:sad2:

I don't have all the data but I'm pretty certain that you can go to most any general or grocery store, buy this new-fangled stuff called "nail polish remover", take off the color and put on a new one! And you don't even need to show ID to get this "nail polish remover"...

OK, I'm back. I still hate shopping.

I was looking for a new interview/work suit. One that is isn't navy, grey or black. No such luck. I even looked at Nordstrom desperate enough to plunk down $200-$300 for the perfect suit. Funny though, 10 years ago, I thought that if we ever made the amount of money that we do right now, I would shop at Nordstrom. Turns out it wan't that I used to be poor, it is that I have always been cheap!

So I walked into Nordy's in my CK jeans ($19.99 from Costco), Bass flip-flops (the most expensive shoes I own, besides my running shoes, at $24.99), Target t-shirt (about $6.50, in my defense it is a fitted v-neck nice-ish t-shirt), & D&B purse that I got for 75% off at the Air Force Exchange (something like $35). Yup, I'm a Nordy's girl. Still no suit!

I couldn't even find a new freeking hoodie. How hard is that?

You shoulda gone with DMom...she can hit Nordy's like a pirate: raiding a stash of rum! Not only would you have had a new suit, but a pair of shoes and a makeover to boot! Just as DW or better yet, DSil about the "Saks adventure" prior to our wedding! :thumbsup2

The real issue for States is the cost of storing all the data you present to prove your id (plus, its kinda big brotherish in some eyes)

What I find funny is that all the ID they want (gov't issued) anyway is stored already somewhere in their systems. Birth Cert, Passport, SS card (not id, officially) but used just as much for ID as anything else.
Sort of going off the original topic here:
What I find funny is how freely people divulge their personal information. Identity theft is so huge in my opinion due to mostly ones own stupidity.
Since I take alot of credit information over the phone, you'd be sruprised how many people think nothing of giving their SS# DOB Mothers Maiden name etc etc over their cell phone standing in a crwod of people.

As to being too big brotherish, I guess that just has never really bothered me much, since I lead a very VERY boring life and really have nothing to hide. But there is always a point I guess where one would be crossing the line. WHat that point is, I dont know.

Well the flip side is that we give DL to legals that have no business driving in the first place. Its not a magic piece of paper. So even drving without one, some may be better drivers than those that actually have one.

Okay, so it isn't Majorca, but this is where I'll be in 23 days. (Yikes! I'm not ready!!) It's in Providenciales, Caicos Islands. The Turks and Caicos. Or is that the Cakes and Tacos?? :goodvibes

Wish me :pixiedust: I am on my way to WDW ( from CA) and also traveling solo for the first time in almost ....well since my young, independant days. I am a nervous traveler and hope that all goes well. I'll see if I can DIS away from home. DH is making me travel with laptop, Magellan and all kinds of electronic gadgets - this from the same man that accused me of being a black clouds for all things electronic!

OK - wish me luck - I fly out at 10:44 - am spending the weekend with Pam/DisneySweetie and other fellow DISsers whom we meet on our Sept cruise - will tell her of all your well wishes.

Wish me luck - I don't do so well sometimes

Hopefully, I will talk later!

Pam told me your secret too.;) Have a wonderful time at WDW.:thumbsup2 Don't you two get into too much trouble. :rotfl2: Save some trouble for me when we are on the EB together. :rolleyes1

Now..that will get my blood pressure down!!!!! just think I do not even need to get up early for a sun bed!!!!

Villa for six adults but only four of us there, three bedrooms, want a room?

And I have booked the Barbecue for a adults brunch Sunday at 11.30am, and dinner most nights!

I do have a car but will only use it to go to the beach a few miles away.

And it starts the day the Magic arrives accross the sea at Barcelona! tempted to pop across. An hour by boat.

Andrew sounds like you have just what the doctor ordered. Fun!!

Hi Andrew

Last time I was in Majorca was May 1994 (Alcudia)

My in-laws are flying out there from Cardiff in 12 days time - not sure where they're staying though.

David

I heard they changed all their plans to stay with you for the entire summer!!

Happy Birthday Pam / Disney Sweetie!!!!!

Mornin' pirate:s
Am I the only woman left in America who paints her own nails?
(Note the cheap/frugal post a few pages back!):)
One of my personal big perks of going from SAHM/grad student to WOHM was that I now splurge on paying someone else to color my hair and wax my eyebrows! Not sure when I would even get to the nail salon, if I was willing to pay for it!

M, it is one of my "me" things. I am addicted to pedicures. I would go once a week if I had the time. But, I honestly can not paint with my left hand. My right hand always looks horrid whenever I have tried!:)
