Heres' a money saver good for almost everyone. Well.... actually you have to be interested in going to a participating museum - probably within driving range of your home too. AND... you need to have a B of A or MBNA credit card ... THEN this deal MIGHT be good for you. Because in the month of May holders of BofA or MBA cards can get free admission for themselves plus a guest to any of 95+ museums across the country. The states where this is good appear to be California, Ct., Deleware, Florida, Maine, MA., New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, PA., R.I. and Vermont. Follow this link to see the BofA web page where you can search for the local museums in your area(s) of interest.

It seems in the LA/Orange & Riverside county areas of Southern Cal there are 14 museums participating - and my 1st point of interest is in the KidSpace Childrens' Museum in Pasadena. Plus we're gonna be in SF 2 weekends from now - and we just might hit one of the 6 museums on the list up there too. I was thinking of the California Academy of Sciences or the Asian Art Museum of SF.

Check it out if your state is on the list AND if you have one of the sponsoring cards.

Thanks for the info. I think maybe we will be hitting the aquarium next weekend.

Awesome! Why couldn't I have been smart enough to be "bored" like that?? Snap.

My dad went to high school with Warren Buffet. They were fairly good friends, too, but never saw each other after H.S. Told my Dad he should have clung to the man's coattails. Double snap.

Oh yeah, I forgot something...when he helped that hapless guy, Steve Case, with AOL :teeth: and AOL turned into AOL Time Warner, Pittman became AOL Time Warner's COO!

The villa was fantastic and there was this guest book/diary in the bedroom. It was signed by previous guests from all over the world. There must have been older, filled books because some of the people wrote about enjoying yet another stay ar RH, or another nice stay in Cottage 6, or how the group includes 4 family generations with the arrival of the great-grandchild. The best (and saddest) one was from folks who had celebrated their 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th etc wedding anniversaries there including several trips in between but now that they are getting up in the years they were bidding a fond farewell to Round Hill as this was their last trip Round Hill.

You know, Warren Buuffet is looking for the next "apprentice" to take over his slot and grow the company :thumbsup2

12 Questions:
Answer YES or NO to the following questions.

1. Have you ever decided to stop eating cake for a week or more, but only lasted for a few days?
Most of us in C.A. made all kinds of promises to ourselves and to our families. We could not keep them. Then we came to C.A. In C.A. they said: "Just try not to eat cake today."

2. Do you wish people would mind their own business about your eating cake and stop telling you what to do?
In C.A. we do not tell anyone to do anything. We just talk about our own cake eating, the trouble we got into, and how we stopped. We will be glad to help you, if you want us to.

3. Have you ever switched from one kind of cake to another in the hope that this would keep you from eating to much?
We tried all kinds of ways. We made our cakes weak. Or just eat cupcakes. Or we did not eat chocolate cake. Or only eat cake on weekends. You name it, we tried it.

4. Have you had to have a piece of cake upon awakening during the past year?
Do you need a piece of cake to get started, or to stop shaking? This is a sure sign that you are not eating cake socially.

5. Do you envy people who can eat cake without getting into trouble?
At one time or another, most of us have wondered why we were not like most people, who really can take it or leave it.

6. Have you had problems connected with eating cake during the past year?
Be honest! Doctors say that if you have a problem with cake and keep on eating cake, it will get worse - never better. Eventually, you will die prematurely, or end up in an institution for the rest of your life. The only hope is to stop eating cake.

7. Has your eating cake caused trouble at home?
Before we came into C.A., most of us said that it was the people or problems at home that made us eat cake. It never solved problems, but we could not see that our eating cake just made everything worse.

8. Do you ever try to get "extra" cake at a party because you do not get enough?
Most of us used to have a "few" before we started out if we thought it was going to be that kind of party. And if cake was not served fast enough, we would go some place else to get more.

9. Do you tell yourself you can stop eating cake any time you want to, even though you over eat sometimes even when you don't mean to?
Many of us kidded ourselves into thinking that we can eat cake because we wanted to. After we came into C.A., we found out that once we started to eat cake, we couldn't stop.

10. Have you missed days of work or school because of eating cake?
Many of us admit now that we "called in sick" lots of times when the truth was that we ate too much cake.

11. Do you have "blackouts"?
A "blackout" is when we have been eating cake for hours or days which we cannot remember. When we came to C.A., we found out that this is a sure sign of cakeaholic eating.

12. Have you ever felt that your life would be better if you did not eat cake?
Many of us started to eat cake because it made life seem better, at least for a while. By the time we got into C.A., we felt trapped. We were eating cake to live and living to eat cake. We were sick and tired of being sick and tired.

How is this relevant? Good question! If you remember I said I was off to the California Gold Rush for the beginning of this week? We (the 4th grade, 12 parents, and our teacher) spent 3 days and 2 nights living in the 19th century - the 1870's to be exact. I've come to have a real appreciation for the practicality of long skirts, bonnets, and aprons! I've also become an expert rope maker.

But, but, but - what does that have to do with a butcher?

Next to where we were staying in the tent cabins there was this HUGE hole dug into the side of the hill and lined with rocks. Turns out it was the cellar for the town sausage maker.

Anyway, I'm still whipped from the trip. So I'm off to bed. Will attempt to ketchup at some future date.

OK, I have total vacation envy! You know what my next 'vacation' consists of?? 4 weeks, 2 kids, 2 adults, 1 dog, and 1 overpacked Explorer with a roof rack wandering the country, homeless!

YEAH! What she said!

M, it is one of my "me" things. I am addicted to pedicures. I would go once a week if I had the time. But, I honestly can not paint with my left hand. My right hand always looks horrid whenever I have tried!:)

I didn't really mean anything. We all have our 'me' things. Nails just aren't mine, but from the posts it seemed like I was the only one!

Thanks, just came back from my nightly walk and DH tells me our good friend (who also is our tenant) was taken to the ER from his school. He is a teacher and they had a play tonight and he collapsed on stage. DH is heading over to the ER and we are just waiting word. Apparantly his BP was 220/over something else really high.

3 weeks ago I tried getting him to go to no avail. He had come upstairs to use DH bp monitor and it was 190/102. I was on my way to hospital (when my sil gave birth) and wanted him to come. But he had a show that night at school and was saying it was just from nerves. He went to his Doc that weekend and everything was fine.

So send some pixie dust our way.
When it rains it pours!

:tink: :tink:

Good thing I'm taking my lap top, the nights might be a little too quiet for me!

I have a hard time believing that there are quiet nights when Stace is on vacation!

So is this what we have to look forward to? Herding a bunch of little kids on field trips?! Now that I think of it, my parents never came along on school trips...

So is it kosher to give the little cree, er, urchins ;) $20 to entertain themselves while I go shopping, grab a mohca latte and a few Krispy Kremes? :rolleyes1 uh oh, I may have to join Enna in :cool2: lest those child protection folks come a'knocking. :teeth:

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to say hi to all. I'm at work now. Doing the graveyard shift in the er. For some bizzare reason it's really slow. I'm sure something will be crashing through the doors soon.

Currently working on my DD's (11) costume for TOAL. Young Elizabeth Swann. I need to find a pair of shoes simmilar to the one in the movie. I think I will have a pair dyed the same color as the fabric.

DD's Communion party this weekend. Our immediate family getting together to celebrate. She's very excited.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

M good luck at the zoo today!:)

Hi Peter! Thanks - I'll need the luck!

That is so cool that you are making DD's dress. I can't even sew a button!
Are you working on the costume at work? When I was a kid my Mom's friend was an OB nurse. She used too hand sew foo-foo stuff onto skating dresses at work during slow shifts.

Oh and if you auto-train to WDW in Aug-Sept maybe we could have a VA mini meet??

Slow morning around here...........:lmao:

Yeah and the first time you go they'll try and give you the behavior problem child....You know they one that hits the window of your car with the seatbelt end or tackles your kid because that's how his Daddy plays with him.

Clearly I must be embarrassing to the child. I have succeeded!

Just a brief good morning to everyone - and a welcome to your pending weekend!

I'm up at an unusual hour (for me) on account of my restless 3 year old who is now napping in my arms. My spouse is away a nite and I was fending fer the two - an' the little one wakes up cryin' with no explanation. Except she wants to be carried an' fer me to "walk" with her. Any other time I might do that fer a bit except she's a little heavier now an' I'm sleepy tired. My compromises have brought me out to the computer with her in my arms. Earlier, she cried while I explained this is all I can manage an ( in brief) take it or leave it. Her cryin' back among the bedrooms was disturbing the older daughters' sleep so coming out here was my solution.

At any rate... I'm not posting much DIS mornin' as I'm going back ta try and sleep a little. Alas I couldn't resist sharing my morning with ya'all.... oh yeah... the other thing... I was just thinkin' this before I decided to share the thought was ... how beautiful my little girls tiny feet were this morning. I found myself sleepy tired - mildly stressed from wranglin' her back to sleep in my arms and just sitting here in a mild stupor before the computer as I noticed her cute feet sticking out here. Something new for the day....

OK... adios folks....

ZZzzzzzzz ..... (hopefully)..... :cloud9:
