Thanks for :dance3: with me about the house rental!
Now I have a few minutes for ketchup!

OK guys, next time we want to talk about MR, we have to do it here, not in PMs ;) How ya doin' O'Blender?

TSO standing there like an idiot (can you tell I have NO LOVE for TSA, er, idiots who wear uniforms with sewn-on badges and think it bestows them with godlike powers?)

My favorite is that if you are wearing a really thin hoodie sweatshirt with a zipper, they make you take it off and put it through the machine because it is a 'jacket', but if you are wearing a really thick crew-neck sweatshirt it is a-ok to wear during screening.

One of these days I am going to wear a zip up hoodie and a pretty bra, so when they tell me that I have to remove my 'jacket' . . .

Those coconuts might come in handy again.

M I won't say who got voted off AI in case you haven't seen it yet

Thanks! I watched it last night. I'm glad Blake was saved. I really like him. He doesn't have the pipes of the girls left, but I really like him. Like to see him in top 2.

DW would poop a brick if I put her in a house with an electric stove! :rotfl: It's gas or it doesn't get cooked! We like LG appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher) but the house came with KitchenAid and Whirlpool Gold appliances.

My forever house will have a gas stove.

Grill question: I like charcoal, but only on the weekends. We grill almost every day in the summer & once a week or so in the winter, so we have a gas grill for the speed and convenience.

Study: Typical Stay-at-Home Mom Would Earn $138,095 a Year
Thursday , May 03, 2007

If the typical stay-at-home mother in the United States were paid for her work as a housekeeper, cook and psychologist among other roles, she would earn $138,095 a year, according to research released on Wednesday.

This reflected a 3 percent raise from last year's $134,121, according to Salary.com Inc, Waltham, Mass.-based compensation experts.

The 10 jobs listed as comprising a mother's work were housekeeper, cook, day care center teacher, laundry machine operator, van driver, facilities manager, janitor, computer operator, chief executive officer and psychologist, it said.

The typical mother puts in a 92-hour work week, it said, working 40 hours at base pay and 52 hours overtime.

A mother who holds full-time job outside the home would earn an additional $85,939 for the work she does at home, Salary.com reported.

Last year she would have earned $85,876 for her at-home work, it said.

Salary.com compiled the online responses of 26,000 stay-at-home mothers and 14,000 mothers who also work outside the home.

I see a flaw.
SAHM: 134,121
WOHM: 85,876

difference - $48,245

I work and the only one of those services that I do not provide is day care. We do NOT pay $48,000 for after school care!

ugh! i just now called back again, and was told that there is no flat group rate. the lady said that the rate will be 15% off the regular going rate. i remember calling when the talk of the group rate was mentioned, and i just didn't commit to it then. back in march, the rates were $79 and $99 i think...and i remember being told then, that it would be 20% off those rates. i'm kicking myself now, cuz it's about $30 more per nite that we are paying. curious to know if anyone has tried to book recently. she told me that the $111 was AFTER the 15% discount. she said that with the large groups that they are expecting, that the rates have apparently already gone up!ugh!!!

Sorry you got the ugly rate. If HoJo is $111, if I were you, I would find a nicer hotel for the same price!

Hotels are like airplanes and cruise ships. Tiered pricing based on % of occupancy. Keep trying!

"war on liquids and things that go squish"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Application? Screening? I think that consisted of me writing out two rather large checks and them clearing the bank! :teeth:

We're nervous. We haven't done this before. This isn't an investment property. It's our home - someone else is just going to live in it for a while.

Before it rented in record time I put some photos online, thought I would share the view from the kitchen window, 3 bedrooms and the front porch:
AKHOUSEVIEW.jpg

The river is about 1/2 between here and the base of the mountain, about 200 yards behind the house you see.

This is one of the many reasons why you have to listen to me grump about DC!

I was getting the meter book ready for tomorrow's work, and I noticed a resident's last name on one of the pages, and it made me chuckle. The resident's last name is TOAL...............:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:    :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I briefly considered changing my DIS name to TOAL.

Or Cake.

TOALCake??

i thought it sounded a bit high for a hojo...but what is the CCI? i really need to get on the ball with this whole trip. i always tell myself i'm gonna have everything done early, so i can enjoy myself and not stress...so far, it's not happening that way! granted, i know i have a very long time, but i really haven't read up on anything yet...i know nothing about any of the ports!
and since i'm not a seasoned airline traveler...when are we able to book flights? i've only flown a handful of times, and those were for trips that were only 3-4 months away.

Hi Shannon, :wave2:
From one OCD planner to another, you have plenty of time to ticket your flights.;) Airlines only release flights 330 days prior to departure for sale. How about we remind each other in about 130 days to start thinking about it. Couple of extra days thrown in for cushion as life always interferes with plans.

Hi Andrew,

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip will be arriving here in Richmond VA in 30 minutes. After reception they will be heading for here in Williamsburg, VA and tour Colonial Williamsburg and tomorrow tour Jamestown settlement.
Hopefully I will get a glimsp of her tomorrow.

Karen

Yes hope you see her as well, all the best, she works very hard. Ensure you are on the queens side not Philip!:thumbsup2

The Royal visit was on the evening news here. I'm not a Royalist per se but I enjoy the history and pomp that is around them.

As a fan of occasions when I was 15 I went to London and was able to be outside Buckingham Palace for the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981.

Also, a few years ago I took the family to London and we were in Trafalgar Square for the celebrations for the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

When I find the photos one day, I'll post one or two.

David

I remeber that day it was hot and sunny and I was........

In Southend on the front...................

Should I have been watching the wedding?

That sounds like my IL's house. There is an entire bedroom upstairs filled with boxes of crap...let's see if that gets bleeped out...there isn't any other word for it. ;) There is stuff all over the house but that room is the worst. You can't even get to the windows to open them...BTW...no A/C in the house.

Pretending.....

Trying to find an excuse to get out of the building ths afternoon. Looks darn nice out.

I'm hanging out in WV at camp. It is beautiful here. Lots of Dogwoods blooming. It's about 70 degrees with a slight breeze. :)

Pet: 5 month old Alaskan Husky & a Bissel Spot Remover (the two are inseparable at this point)
Vacation: She is coming with us this summer when we roam the country homeless. TOAL, I have no clue. Most likely she will go to 'Camp' (kennel).

OOOHHH just saw on the oh-so intellecual daytime TV I'm watching that Taye Diggs is going to be on GA for a while. Sounds good to me!

Flights can't be booked till Sept. at the earliest. (Sept. 19th seems to be ringing a bell)

The Passporter books have the 2005 version on clearance with info about a number of the Mexican ports

The summaries for posts 50,000 through about 55,000 have links to 2005 Repo info, pics of the ports, maps, and some independent tour operators.

Seasoned work traveller tip, check the hotel's deposit and cancellation policies. Most large chain hotels will let you book with no or minimal $ down and have a cancellation policy thats 100% back if cancelled more than 5 days out. Find the best deal you can, book it and then change if you find a better deal.
