Must be something in the UK air - I came home early today. I've had a cold since last Saturday and living with it. Since yesteday it's affected my chest, and my arms and legs are aching also. To top it off, I have a cold-like headache.

I'm NOT at work tomorrow (I have a flexi-day) - with the Bank Holiday on Monday that gives me 4 days off :dance3:

The bad side of things is that when I return to work on Tuesday, I have to start the appraisals on my staff :headache:

David

I want a job in the UK. You guys (or as we say in Chicago yous guys) get way more days off than what we get here. What is the Bank Holiday:confused:

John

pirate: Hello!pirate:

just wanted to stop in and wish everyone with birthdays lately a

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

next couple weeks are crazy busy and the weather is finally nice here....

Tina:
Dante is just about the sweetest thing ever - so glad he is doing better!

Our pets:
Tasha: Maine Coon (4-5 yrs), got her about 4 years ago - DH's niece couldn't have her in the new apartment - our "attitude" cat
Peanut - (or Petey): Am shorthair type - showed up about 3 1/2 years ago..our "sweetie" cat
Snoopy - greyhound/german Shepard mix (3 yrs old)- adopted him 2 years ago in June. His owner was too sick to keep/control him....big doofus bubba type.....he came with his name......has a greyhound, not German Shepard personality

when we are gone cats stay home and neighbor catsits for us...the dog goes to an awesome kennel...he loves the lady who runs it and can't wait to get out of the car to get inside...so we feel pretty good about leaving him there...though 17- 18 days for TOAL is a long time...(probably the ONLY part of the trip I am not 100% thrilled about!)

everyone have a great weekend!!!!!:wizard:

i am glad to know i'm not invisible!! i was really beginning to wonder! i guess i gotta get in here and post a lot more, and i won't get lost in the shuffle!

i wanted to ask if anyone had recently called ho-jo annaheim? i made the call yesterday, and they told me the rate was $111. i thought the group rate was alot lower than that? can the group rate already have gone up? does that even happen? are they able to charge part of the group one rate and then charge others another rate? i wish i wouldn't have procrastinated....i actually didn't think i was procrastinating seeing it's still a very long way off!!!:rotfl2:

I got in on the lower rate. If I do not use them, maybe we can transfer to you. I did get a King for $68.

She is doing as best as can be expected. We see Doc next week and surgery is scheduled for July 16th.
Mark has been busy lately with work. He hopes to be able to chat tomorrow.

Thanks for asking.

Maybe mine will pirate the computer to talk too. :rotfl2: I might be late because Spiderman is out tomorrow and have lots of assignments.:cool1:

Although he has never nailed his political colours to the wall, he allows the Labour Party campaign team free use of his trains - therefore, I'd willingly vote for him.
I met him a few years ago and he is a very genuine man - my DS - Alex thought he was great !!

What do you think of Liverpool then ?? The most successful team in Europe :)

David

Dumb question but does he tend to be in the same party as Tony Blair???:confused3 I just think he is awesome!!!:cool1:

OMG!!!!

Welcome aboard Helen!!!

party: party: party: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: party: party:

I am so glad you are posting.:woohoo: How are the children doing???? :confused3 Are you already for August???

Of course, lovely TSA regs require you to check most of whats in a typical shaving kit

When they announced the "war on liquids and things that go squish" one of my travel-related chatboards was chattering away about all the solid/powder replacements: tooth powder, solid shampoo bars, solid deodorants etc. The only replacement that women couldn't find was a solid/powder mascara. Some decided to do without, some decided to tell TSA to pound sand and stuck the mascara tube in their pocket "forgetting" that it's there while going through the security checkpoint.

I'll have to ketchup later, just checking in for a minute.

FINALLY something is going right with this &*#@ move.

I posted our house for rent on a military rental site on Saturday night. On Sunday, we got an e-mail from a couple who was in town house hunting.
We cleaned frantically Monday night, they came to see it Tuesday and again last night. After walking through one more time they wanted to sign a lease!!!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I had them fill out an application. My brother's Big Boy job is with a corporate screening firm (he's the one who owns & runs a record store), so he's checking up on them right now, but by the end of the day our house should be rented. :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Be back later - I have to go edit a lease.

There goes the Pirate Vacation Club (PVC) I was going to propose in a few weeks! Welcome Home!pirate:

 :yay:  :yay:  :yay:
Congrats on the renters!

Remind me to never rent from you! :rotfl: When we got our place, it consisted of DW finding a few prospects in RentClicks.net, calling up the people for a viewing, having a few not call her back because she sounds like she is 12 , looked at 2 houses. The one we're in...we met the owner at the house, he dug a path through the snow drift in the driveway so we could get inside :sad2:, we didn't look much because when she walked into the kitchen and saw the gas cooktop and KitchenAid refrigerator, that was it! He asked when we were ready to move....hmmmmmm 39 days living in a hotel, I'd say NOW! Met him the next day (Sunday) to sign the lease, drop off the checks and get the keys. :yay:

Application? Screening? I think that consisted of me writing out two rather large checks and them clearing the bank! :teeth:

OK, now time for some lunch, well, after I let the gas and electric meter reader in that is...............

 How exactly does that work? A water, gas and electric meter readers all in the same proximity? Do you try to tell each other what the readings are? :rotfl: Or do you just nod, wink and viola! a suspiciously low number appears whereas Widow Baker down the street suddenly gets a HUGE bill? pirate:

Speaking of lunch...no wonder I'm hungry!!!! I came in early today (0745) for a meeting with my boss 2000 miles away...meeting never happened  So now I'm starving and could eat the face off a dead rhinoceros! :p Back in a bit.

I need a raise too so I pay for the TOAL!!!

I was getting the meter book ready for tomorrow's work, and I noticed a resident's last name on one of the pages, and it made me chuckle. The resident's last name is TOAL...............:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:    :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

woohoo!! my dh's paycheck is direct deposited to our bank account on thurs. i checked our acct last thurs and after checking again today, i realized we had our tax refund deposited!!! woohoo!!! we can make a payment on our TOAL now!!!! i'm so psyched to get our $$. we really needed it!!

John

Hi John

Yes I've got another day off !!! :lmao:

In line with other posts and as I've told Cheryl before, I get six weeks a year + Public Holidays + Bank Holidays + Maundy Thursday + Queens Birthday + Flexi days as and when accrued.:rolleyes1

A Bank Holiday is a day when the Banks are closed so there can be no business conducted elsewhere. We have roughly five each year.

Sorry to hear you are not at your best Andrew. I hope it's just stress. You have been very busy planning for your med cruise along w/ dealing with DW's illness, DD's ear problems, work & such. That kind of stress can take a toll on anyone. Keep us updated! :grouphug:

Hi Doreen! Nice to "see" you! :wave2: (That little waving guy is my fav. but sometimes I have a hard time finding him. )

WE DO NOT ALL GET DAVIDS TIME OFF!
I think they should move this next one it means nothing really and we have another at the end of May, its like buses you wait for one and three BH Mondays come in a row.

The should either:-

Move this to St Georges day.

Or move it to Mid July and take the end of August one and add that to it so we have a long weekend in high summer.

Andrew - we'll disagree on this one !!

WE DO NOT ALL GET DAVIDS TIME OFF!
I think they should move this next one it means nothing really and we have another at the end of May, its like buses you wait for one and three BH Mondays come in a row.

It's a day to celebrate both a very old tradition of May Day and a day to commemorate the victory of rights for workers - The Americans have Labor Day (My birthday this year)

The should either:-

Move this to St Georges day.

He wasn't English !! Anyway, 67%of people in England don't even know when it is :rotfl2:

Or move it to Mid July and take the end of August one and add that to it so we have a long weekend in high summer.

My suggestion is move it to Trafalgar Day

Andrew

Quick question - Do you have elections in your area today and have you been out to vote yet ???

David

Hi thanks for your concern, so the earlier post as well, Its still around however, if I said last week it was 100% pain, currently it would be about 30% and I came home early.

I am at work Tommorrow, but we have a long weekend, Monday is a Bank Hol.

Then I have about three weeks until a weeks holiday in Spain.

I will see Doctor again during that time, or sooner if it gets worse.

Thanks again, my posting is limited, as well as I am resting even more.

Hi Andrew,

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip will be arriving here in Richmond VA in 30 minutes. After reception they will be heading for here in Williamsburg, VA and tour Colonial Williamsburg and tomorrow tour Jamestown settlement.
Hopefully I will get a glimsp of her tomorrow.

The Royal visit was on the evening news here. I'm not a Royalist per se but I enjoy the history and pomp that is around them.

As a fan of occasions when I was 15 I went to London and was able to be outside Buckingham Palace for the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981.

Also, a few years ago I took the family to London and we were in Trafalgar Square for the celebrations for the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

When I find the photos one day, I'll post one or two.
