Morning

just a quik hi.. I have to get back to work..

Well, if you know anyone hiring a middle manager with experience in cellular system performance and product management, let me know, even though I really have no desire to work downtown. I don't like people enough to sit on a train for several hours and it is hard to talk to yourself on Metra without people looking at you oddly.

I work for a software company.. no cellular systems in sight.. but ...

Posting this here because I know a lot of us don't always have time to venture to other boards. Saw it on the budget board just now. Agent Cool Blue rinse has been recalled. You can get the form for a refund here.

Actually...

... my "old' nickname of CC was from another "incident". And... the fellow that hit me was judgement proof - so my counsel says. I've had an asset search run and let himgo without incident. I don;t know for sure - but he hit someone else just a couple months before he hit me... so he already had no insurance. And I don't know if he had insurance when he hit the other guy. Nor do I know whether any injury was involved - however I know it was a significant accident.

So no... he didn't try to sue me. But this reminds me of another story ....

My Aunte was assaulted one Christmas at the shopping mall. The asailant knocked her down - siezed her car keys and tried to drive off in her Acura Legend. However, my Auntes' loveable 130 pound pit bull saw the whole thing as he was in the back of the car! The would be thief was immedietely siezed by Buddy and held and bleeding IN the car right there. AND... would you believe it if I told you Buddy was raised to be gentle as a lamb with people but he really hated other dogs? So - you could sort of trust Buddy around people all the time - except on THIS occassion he made an exception in his conduct. And to Buddys' credit - he did not KILL the assailant.

So... this thief tried to sue my aunte. She went to court where the judge abruptly threw it out of court. However, now-a-days I don't know if our liberal Democratic skewed judges would throw these kind of cases out. As - they might want to HEAR it - to see if the defense knows it's legal dances.... so to speak. Can you tell... I tend to have a conservative view on things - with a couple of "liberal" exceptions? I'll leave it at that for now to avoid raisin' a ruckus. :surfweb:

ITA. Right there with ya, Crash! :thumbsup2

Andy...pixiedust: pixie dust for Hazel. Could be any number of things, and I'm hoping it's nothing!!

Our schools are asking for a budget override. We can't see what they've spent the first allotted money on to begin with.....so we can't trust them with MORE. :confused3

Our kids have been taking soap, tissues, paper, scissors, markers....everything.....to school for many years now. And we're supposed to be a fairly "rich" district with not many students!

andy - I forgot to mention good luck to Harriett to to:grouphug: day

I can understand the fear of water, but I'm getting better at it. I have a fear of drowning as I almost drowned when I was little. I went under at a swimming hole and did the bob up and down and up and down and eventually went under...a stranger nearby came to my rescue and brought me back up. Since then, deep water scares me..... I can't swim, but I've learned to float - its a start!...especially on the water at CC! The good thing is that DD or ST or whatever is a good swimmer after taking classes at the Y, so I don't worry about her, she can keep her head above the water...no pun intended.

It's funny, with all the boring stories my DH tells the kids(they think they're boring) about the summers in the Catskills, he never became a good swimmer. He now doesn't do much more than float with his syrofoam tubie thing.:rotfl2: When DS was little we took him to the Y for swimming lessons. Well the first instructor wasn't too good. In fact my DS and another used to come out of the pool with perfectly dry heads. We both signed the kids up for the next session and told the instructor we wanted them to be dripping wet and yes they both hated us but learned to swim. Now his still isn't any good and refuses to take lessons at this stage of his life (27). I told him both DH and him can go to the Y away from where we live ( so noone will recognize them)and learn. I'm still working on it.
By the way, his Dad ncever could swim and when the went on their first cruise, he was terrified the whole time. Wrote down the location of all the areas on the ship where the life preservers and boats were:lmao:

I don't get it at all. Why is it we all got fairly decent educations in the 50's 60's and 70's. We didn't have computers, electronic anything. Heck most of us disn't even have color tv:lmao: I remember if a kid had a problem with reading, they went out for special classes. My friend had a speech impediment and went to speech class 2x a week. WE all excelled in the state Regents exams and without the help of calculators. The only electrical device we owned was a transistor radio. Now that the schools have all the electronics, it seems they are failing to teach the kids. They can't read, spell or count without a calc near by.We are really failing our kids in this country and the systems really do need to wise up.The only time I had to bbring anything in to class was when I got caught eating candy or chewing gum and had to bring in for the whole class:lmao:

aaaaahhhhhhhh...someone else who is living thru the latest and greatest in business, 6 Sigma. I'm sure it's all well, fine and good in a manufacturing setting. I'm R&D. We don't do R&D the same way day-in and day-out. If I have one more person ask me how long it takes to review an approve a report, I am going to scream. Just what I need another process/procedure that does not work!

OK rant over. Thank you, I feel better.

Sometimes it just feels good to get it out, doesn't it? ;)

Mornin' pirate:s

 Good Morning TGIF "Eve"

So it takes a while for my brain to work in the morning. I shuffled out of bed, poured a cup of coffee, and logged on to this post.

My first thought: Who is Eve?

Hey, no problem Stacey, it's just been a bad week and I needed to do a little venting, that's all..............;)

Hazel also received a call from one of her docs yesterday and he wants her to come in and see him about one of the tests results that came back in the other day. Seems blood was found in her stool sample she had taken just before we left for vacation. He doesn't think it is anything serious, but the unkown is always a bit scary. She sees the doc on April 25th.

Prayers & pixie dust.

B-HAG! Please, no Six Sigma terms on this board. I really need an ESCAPE from work, not reminders of it!!!!! :rotfl:

Six Sigma was sooooooo 2002. Aren't was all supposed to be Built to Last or something now?

Glad I could facilitate your rant! :)
Seriously, non-profit world embraced the BHAG, but not the rest of it. It works for us.

"World Peace" and whatnot. :hippie:

Me too Stace, me too!!! The doc doesn't sound overly concerned, so that does make is feel better. :goodvibes

:grouphug: to Hazel.....I agree, the period when you don't know what it is they saw is the scary part.

I sent a letter to our local newspaper about the override, saying I'd gladly vote "yes" if the schools would just go back to teaching the basics...and return the discipline to the classrooms and maybe teach some values and morals. It'll be interesting to see if they print it!

Thank you for this. I have it for my son. And I'm wondering if it contributed to the stomach bug he had a few weeks ago. This kids has never had any incidents of vomiting and diarrhea before. He's only used the Cool Blue once since then. hmmmm

Hope that it is nothing serious. Our family will keep Hazel in our prayers.

Discipline seems to be the most discussed issue in the classroom. When we first moved downhere. we were friendly with a gal who ran a daycare. It was located next to elem school and she got the older kids for aftercare. She told us one of the kids' dad was an attorney and he used tothreaten to make up stories of abuse if she didn't let him do what he wanted. They learn so young don't they. I think the abuse 800 # is a great contributor to this problem. It's the child word against the adult and with all what's going on how do you get the discipline back? Most parents are working full time jobs and don't want to be the disciplinarian when they get home. Just the phrase "WAit til your father gets home" would send the fear thru most opf us at that time.

Andy, I know how Hazel feels. I was waiting for results for the last 2 weeks and finally got clean report today so send her some :grouphug:
