#1 - Are you (or your spouse/kids) superstitious of some things??
Used to be, but not any more. I think I've outgrown all my superstitions. Unless I am watching sports on TV -- I do believe that if my team is doing well, that means I should not change my position or get up or do anything different or it will cause them to lose.

#2 - Do you watch any scary movies to mark the friday the 13th and Halloween occasions?
I don't watch scary movies at all. I wore #13 playing basketball in high school, so the number is not superstitious to me.

#3 - Do you think twice when or if walking under ladders, spilling salt, stepping on cracks or if you break a mirror?
I don't usually think even once.

#4 - what is the first thing you can recall which you would call is something you have superstitious feelings about (other than what I mentioned in question 3?)
When I started driving, I used to kiss the my hand and press it to the ceiling when I ran a yellow light.

#5 - So - for friday the 13th tomorrow are YOU doing anything special? Anything at all - superstitious oriented or not... does not matter.
Is working SPECIAL?

#6 - Do you gamble at all? If so ... what are your favorite games?
Does gambling with my life driving to work in the morning count? I am not a gambler. Occasional football pool or such.

#7 - And ... here's a new twist... what would YOU have posted as a Friday the 13th question IF you were drafting a 7 question query for chuckles? And - if you wish.... feel free to answer the one of the other posted responses to this question 7 as a "bonus" 8th question....
Since it is a Friday the 13th poll, why didn't Crash ask 13 questions??

:thumbsup2 ..this is a very interesting site. * i am sorry :goodvibes
if i missed anyone reply...it isn't unusually for me to go to work &
be stuck there for 16 hrs...and with that, sometimes i am way behind.

ha! so some were granted room assignments?!, [micme2003]..sneaking
that in! ...we do not! :scared: , now why do they give some room
assignments..and us not?! * this reminds me of vacation times @ work.
if one sais i "hate" thew word "bumping"...i could not argued! [ however,
i am the new "king" of the hill at work..." :yay: ". while this is our 6th
cruise..we have never done gty. before... & i've "see" good {$$$}
reasons ..to worry!. :rolleyes1 allrighty~ miss micme? who do you know?
or what tricks for getting a room asignment before the next rounds of
bumping......esp. for this cruise, just based what occurred on the 31st.

ha! i also noticed lisa not willing to share any of her 000pirate: secrets,

:snooty: ...but i guess it proving her a worthy pirate in her own rights.

:lmao: ..well, it pretty self evident..i am still trying to figured out stupid

:surfweb: stuff....ok, i'm lazy! however, my lil'miss cutie, in deeds~ knows
alot about disney secrets..even though i can't get her on here! yes,
i was hoping mybe lisa could/would draw her out...oh well,..i do think
alot of you will really like her.... . * it was true, that alot of her
friends were trying to warn her off....saying i was some sorta a banadit.
[ha--did you get that? sly reference to a  ?]

wowsers!..regarding schooling! reading everyone input really painted an
accurate pictures...over rampant educational needs!. :thumbsup2 ,
to those taking the time getting involved. & bullying behaviors...
[ these subjects are up my alley...because i many experiences. ].
i just like to express my support ...it is very significant even if the
desire outcomes are not reached..cos you are having a positive effect
on your children...* as noted before, my wife was the one that gave
me insights on why its so important for girls to have their daddy's
support. & to me, these subjects are family oriented which makes
them related to disney' values. * over the years learning pysch.
problems with adults...only increased my respect for what a disney
cruise/trip can do for our children. :grouphug:

also..seeing how living life well. you should "see" the lil'group i have
at work..toward doing disney vacations....but, have you ever seen
co-workers...just existing. it's sad how many follow routines...never
ever considering exploring outside their very limited views. the
world may be a dangerous place, but it also very facinating, i love
learning new cultures and meeting others with differences. when
i do cruising, i always like the exploring...sometimes ,you can meet
the most interesting people ..in line.

ok...this year groundhog has out stayed his welcome! i say we pack
him up and send him back to the north pole. obviously, thats his
favorite weather..patterns. he is killing my back, to the extreme!

wondering where she got that idea....:snooty: , hope you no one sending
e-mails...:flower3:

lady wenches....if you think iam weak toward the power of suggestions,
my lil'miss cutie pie is worst...just saying, some ladies may be  s
can still hit..hard! :teacher:

Is that the one ''When can I book my lifeboat seat? ''cruisinluver

I had written something here but decided not to post it.

Lets say I do not agree. Two people lost.

Oh its harmless. I'm sure the people posting there are not posting in jest at the expense of the unfortunate people lost in that cruise recently. Its unfortunate that it happened but the thread is not aimed at them. Its obviously aimed at the ridiculous hours and days of scheduling and organization and racing to wait in line that a DISer must go through to get the events and dining and such to make their cruise semi-decent and enjoyable; but you knew that....you can't honestly blow the whole thing out of proportion to the point to suggest that its anything other than that. Its like joking about a new DCL policy to ask cruisers to stop eating during the Canal crossing or to make larger passengers get off the boat to make the crossing easier...its all in good fun. Making fun of Disney and its policies and requirements is one thing, making fun of unfortunate circumstances is another.

Thanks you for that and you know me I can see the funny side of most things, this 'Lifeboat' thread started up very shortly after the sinking of the cruise ship in Greece, I was on the boards, then, and saw the first post. I was going to make a post, it would have been the second one saying, it was poor timing, but thought, let it go and 'holding back' was best. Let it fall down the page withour response.

Orginally news of this loss was, not on our TV News as much as it should, as problems with our Navy and Iran took up all the news time, but after that the pictures shown where thought provoking.

Even when I saw it here, I was going to quote and changed my mind, on what I would post, on reflection it was best, not to post my own views as everyone afterwards is just, having a joke.

Ill leave it at that. But I am sorry for the people who have lost their loved ones. The Captain has been in court, and we can hold faith that so few people were lost.

Thank you for your well considered response.

* the scariest scene..to me....is discovering my lil'miss cutie
pie getting up on the wrong side of the bed. :scared:

..& running out of chocolate bars during certain tymes. :rolleyes1

:flower3:

You know, I had no idea what you were talking about until I saw Andy's post. (GoofyforGoofy) I'm sorry but I never even considered the tragic accident when I read that thread. I was only looking at it as people venting about some of the questions that get posted on the cruise board. I remember when someone asked where the reserved section of CC was for concierge...for example. I know many of the people who posted on that thread and I seriously doubt that they even considered the tragedy when they posted their comment. I feel badly that it never entered my mind when I read it but I come to the boards to get away from the stress of every day life.

Thanks Lisa, I did think at some point the Mod's would have picked up on this, all of the posters after the orginal post were a good joke, and you will know I like a good joke, on this one I just thought the time was out, the orginal post for the thread to start at the time the cruise ship was lost.

Maybe I was a bit sensative, or, maybe is just been reported here far more than the USA.

THANK YOU for your post.

Crash! that is funny. I think I got a bunch of spam emails from my friend like that. Some people are very Stupid. I work in a call center and we decided the other day (no the moon was not full, we can usually figure that one out) that the one plus of the job is after a bad day, we all feel like mensa members.:rotfl2: The things people say and do is hilarious. Some of us were thinking of putting all the nonsense in a book and living off that for retirement. We would surely get canned for repeating what goes on.

Andrew, we really didn't get much coverage here on TV.Being closer to it, it must've been on your news outlets alot. I found out mostly from the online tabloids. It truely was a tragedy and hopefully will never happen again.

Well... I didn't ask 13 because I am a conservative sort - in general and sticking with 7 was my usual routine. Besides... some folks would not consider this to be a suitable venue for an invasive survey. Of course, taken from a different POV... if I keep up these once a week surveys... in just a years time I will have posed 350 questions to the group and ... if a dozen folks reply to each survey then we'll amass 4,300 answers! Anyone care to create a running summary of the results... or sort through our thread to make a summary next year? <chuckles>

car_crash_smoking_lg_nwm.gif

And as for the hazards of driving everyday... I HAVE to agree with you ... just check out these driving stats I googled....

OK... I'm off for Costco for some last minute errands and to get a little pizza for our car ride. I may only return in an hour to see what postings went up then I've gotta hit the road some time between 2 and 3 today. Hopefully we'll be gone well before 2 to dodge some of that DANGEROUS traffic!

Good afternoon everyone! Happy TGIF Eve! I like that. Going to ketchup a little. Rainy here, but we dodged the s*** bullet. It was on a diagonal from Kalamazoo to Alpena.

Where is this Spring one hears of?

I SHOULD HAVE SAID GOOD EVENING BEFORE MY PREVIOUS TWO POSTS.

#1 - Are you (or your spouse/kids) superstitious of some things??
No- But I will not walk under ladders.
#2 - Do you watch any scary movies to mark the friday the 13th and Halloween occasions?
When I was younger not now.
#3 - Do you think twice when or if walking under ladders, spilling salt, stepping on cracks or if you break a mirror?
Ladders and Mirrors
#4 - what is the first thing you can recall which you would call is something you have superstitious feelings about (other than what I mentioned in question 3?)
Mum broke a mirror when I was young. Seven years bad luck, first dog died shortly afterwards.
#5 - So - for friday the 13th tomorrow are YOU doing anything special? Anything at all - superstitious oriented or not... does not matter.
Still going to work, but it always seems someone will have a car accident. A small knock etc.
#6 - Do you gamble at all? If so ... what are your favorite games?
I do our lottery now and then to keep it random and to ensure I do not feel I have to do it each week, I do lucky dip, let the computers choose numbers.
Loved Vegas but capped a limit.
#7 - And ... here's a new twist... what would YOU have posted as a Friday the 13th question IF you were drafting a 7 question query for chuckles? And - if you wish.... feel free to answer the one of the other posted responses to this question 7 as a "bonus" 8th question....

Question 8 What has happened to you on Friday 13th?

Andrew, we really didn't get much coverage here on TV.Being closer to it, it must've been on your news outlets alot. I found out mostly from the online tabloids. It truely was a tragedy and hopefully will never happen again.

It would have been the major story here as we are part of Europe and Brits and lots of school children on a trip were on it. But the Hostage Navy 'boat' incident in Iran took over our news for a while it was reported but lower on the list.

When the Iran situation was solved it became a major story on the news with all of the video being shown from passengers.

The captain has been charged, so we are all in safe hands with DCL, but it shows why we all do lifeboat drills.

Wenches and a Cake for Grumpy!

I really gotta get going already now ... see ya in an hour for maybe an hour before I hit the road!

#1 - Are you (or your spouse/kids) superstitious of some things?? Not really, but I carry a St. Christopher’s metal around my grandmother gave me when I was a kid. And I’m not Catholic!

#2 - Do you watch any scary movies to mark the friday the 13th and Halloween occasions? No

#3 - Do you think twice when or if walking under ladders, spilling salt, stepping on cracks or if you break a mirror? Not really.

#4 - what is the first thing you can recall which you would call is something you have superstitious feelings about (other than what I mentioned in question 3?) Probably when I was a kid and all the grups would talk about Friday 13th beign a bad day. Freaked me out!

#5 - So - for friday the 13th tomorrow are YOU doing anything special? Anything at all - superstitious oriented or not... does not matter. Tomorrow is payday Friday so we go out to eat and usually end up at the Disney store.

#6 - Do you gamble at all? Yes If so ... what are your favorite games? Mega millions lottery and office pools.

#7 - And ... here's a new twist... what would YOU have posted as a Friday the 13th question IF you were drafting a 7 question query for chuckles? And - if you wish.... feel free to answer the one of the other posted responses to this question 7 as a "bonus" 8th question....

Have you ever had anything freaky happen to you on Friday the 13th? Where I work it’s always a full moon!

We've been "Disney Crazy" since about 1986 and knew when the DVC started. It was the "fees" that made us wary too until we really looked at what we spend versus the fees. It just made sense for us then. I just wished that we had looked at it this closer sooner.

Still thinking, but getting closer to taking the plunge. I think I will call and ask my questions.

Well, this is in regards to DD's class. Her assistant teacher is now doing her student teaching to get her degree at a different school for the second half of the year. They didn't have anyone for a month. Parents volunteered to go in & help but were turned down by the teacher. Our letters sent in January resulted in them hiring a substitute to be the assistant in that room. Four weeks later she was told by HR at central services that because of the fact that the person student teaching is still being paid, there is no money in the budget to put anyone else in that classroom. That is the stupidest thing that I ever heard. Where is the money from the new lottery going? This can't be the only classroom affected like this in the county. My child & the others in that room are being denied their right to the proper faculty/student ratio to help them learn properly. The other two classrooms have assistant teachers. Now they have suggested that one of them will split their time between the two classrooms. Now instead of 20 kids being at a disadvantage...there will be 40 affected by the school board's stupidity.

Also, the parent survey came home today in response to our letters. What a crock! It is a 21 question generic survey with bubbles to fill in. No room for comments or details regarding problems.

I didn't think schools would be like this. At the elementary level it's just one thing after another. I'm beginning to wonder about the superintendent, she seems to be implementing things without having all the details worked out!:confused3

After doing some research, I just found out this is possible for us to do!!!

I also found out even better news: an increase in the retirement age for "new hires" from 55 to 60, so it appears as I am grandfathered in and can still retire at 55 if that is my choice!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Are you unionized? Our county and unions have offered early outs several times to get rid of the higer paid employees. The last offer was in 2004 and all you needed was 20 yrs service. We have to work 25 yrs with 55 yrs of age. We get to keep health care. A couple of contracts ago they changed the 25 yrs to 30 if you want healthcare. If you were here before a certain date you were grandfathered in. In Aug I need 7 more years, but if an early out comes in the next couple of years and I have the 20 yrs, I'm taking it!

Happy Stanley Cup Playoffs NHL Fans! As of this year, only one NHL team has never experienced the quest for Lord Stanley's Cup. Gee...wonder what team that is?

Signed,

Columbus Blue Jackets Fan

:cheer2: Go Red Wings! :cheer2:

Forgot one thing....if they take the bricks & start throwing them...they are angry parents who are sick & tired of their kid's needs being dismissed.

Yes, I guess these bricks are getting a little personal. ;)

Only 3 more years for me to deal with elementary school! Counting down the days.

Wow! Seems I'm alone. Will check back later. DD has a birthday party tonight at a place that has indoor inflatables. Bounce houses and such.

MR enjoyed the Mayonnaise Jar and 2 cups of coffee. It's puts things in perspective!

Jonsing good for you. I never took swim lessons and would feel like a fish out of water if I did now and it was all kids! Keep at it. Trying to talk dd into lessons before she gets much older. May sign her up for the spring session - but it's 7 weeks on Saturdays! (I like to sleep in!) But it would be interesting to see where she places in the lessons. She is at the Y this week for spring break camp and she was excited she got to go in the deep end. I said did they test you and she said no, my head is above the water when I stand up!:lmao:

Catch you all after the party.

Don't know if anyone else has this lineup today, but my travel channel is running the Disney Specials today.Cruise line coming up soon.Enjoy

aaaaahhhhhhhh...someone else who is living thru the latest and greatest in business, 6 Sigma. I'm sure it's all well, fine and good in a manufacturing setting. I'm R&D. We don't do R&D the same way day-in and day-out. If I have one more person ask me how long it takes to review an approve a report, I am going to scream. Just what I need another process/procedure that does not work!

OK rant over. Thank you, I feel better.

I've worked with an R&D group. No, they didn't do things the same way twice....which was partly their biggest problem! EVERY time they finish up they have to write a white paper or tech report--it's a requirement. And EVERY time they sat around staring at one another because they didn't know where to start! :sad2:
