I'll see your Star Wars and raise you 2 file boxes of comic books and 3 boxes labeled "sentimental t-shirts". And yes, it all gets moved across the country (or 2) every 3 years.
Rule #1: Packrats should never marry other packrats.
Rule #2: They really shouldn't join the military.
I beg to differ. They absolutely should join the military - otherwise they'd go broke moving all their stuff around!
I'll see your comic books, and 3 boxes of sentimental t-shirts, and raise you half of a 10x10 storage unit (which we rented for $100+/month) storing nothing but, you guessed it,
EMPTY boxes!! You know the boxes - all the original packing materials for the TV, Stereo, bed, ...
After 2 years DH and I looked at each other and shook our heads. "You know, if we can convince ourselves that we're never moving again we can get back $1200 a year." I looked at him and said, "We're never moving again."
My 6yo sings opera around the house, 8yo doesn't. When we took them to the Nutcracker a few years ago, one of them looked at me 1/2 way through the first act and asked me when they were going to start talking.
We have GOT to get our boys together.
We did at least warn them that the Nutcracker was going to be different. They had a tape of it running when we bought the tickets - so they knew what to expect. I emphasized, no singing, no talking, just dancing - are you sure you want to do this? (Buying tickets was their idea.)
Why is it I always think "Dancing Salt Shaker"????
You mean it's not?
Vet said that Morgan had to be immobilized for at least 3 weeks so that he doesn't put pressure on the leg. The best thoughts from the vet were keeping Morgan in a large crate. Any other ideas on immobilizing a dog?
I'd say a crate is your best bet right off. Morgan will probably be on some pretty strong meds for a while, and the safety of a crate (think den) will help him relax. If that doesn't work you could try an ex-pen (ex = excercise). They're basically little kid play pens. But you want to make it really, really tiny. Immobilized means no movement. Not even on those nifty keeno braces you found. Benadryl to keep him calm is an interesting idea, though you should discuss it with your vet first.
Beardies are such cool dogs. Though I could never deal with all the hair.
Thanks for the suggestions all. I did google and saw some leg braces that are out there, I thought I'd print out pics and show the Vet to get input on if they may help support the leg. My wife got a visit in with Morgan today and talked to the Vet. The Vet told her that there would be infections, and antibiotics would help, but upset my wife when he said there was still a 20% chance that an infection would cause him to amputate the leg.
I know this is difficult advice, especially if you're not used to crating your dogs. But the best way to reduce the possibility of those bad things - really is to keep Morgan crated. And then hand on collar walk to the door for releiving.
What school is this?????? I am just stunned by the number.

We are lucky to clear $2000.00 after expenses for our fall carnival...which includes baskets that are auctioned off. WOW!
Sacramento Waldorf School. Yeah, private - a little under 450 kids in K-12. How else to you think we can get away with having our kids shear sheep, learn two languages, and mandatory music?
The auction makes up the difference between tuition and actual costs. We don't want our tuition to go up so, those that can, do. Annual giving is used for tuition assistance - about 50% of the school gets some sort of help.
Uh, Capt'n? According to the trailer for POTC3... Well, YES.
Oh, i am so sorry to hear this. Poor Morgan, Poor you!!! I know that when Gracie ripped open the skin on the inside of her hip area. (you know that really thin piece that runs from the leg to the stomach, tecnical term anyone?)
The technical term is "groin".
she had to have emergency surgery and her we are at home with this dog with a huge rip in her leg where we could see all the tendons and stuff and we had to try to get her in the car and into the vets (she apparently didn't realize she was that hurt and thought it great fun to go for a car ride)
Nasty accident.
Well afterwards they said to keep her down for a few weeks to allow the cut to heal and stuff. Well if you know Weims they don't "do still." Right Esteri?
You mean everyone's dog doesn't follow them into the bathroom?
My husband laughs about the parade I'm forever leading around the house. Though only Taiko is really persistant in following me around that closely.
I did get a call from the Dr. office today about the scheduling of the next test for DD. What is it about those guys that makes you want to just scream? Sorry to any medical professionals here. I'm sure you guys are so much more helpful. They called to tell me that they can get DD in for the next test on May 29th!!! Two whole months from now.
Oh Laura. You hang in there. And keep asking about better dates. Something will come up.
What a great idea.... until it gets to my kids. Saw this, discussed with DW and we thought cool. Of course my 9yo lawyer to be starts with:
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Why aren't you saying no?....
Becasue they're the rules for getting what you WANT, and you don't really WANT your homework, do you?
Smart Alec. Sounds like my boys.
