I guess you could call your DS a "SPT" stinky pre-teen..............;)

Love it! I'll be using SPT for the next 4 months! :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone! It's going to get up to 70* today, yesterday it was 80* and broke a record. Spring is here! Or such as we get in Michigan! LOL

Hope everyone has a great day.

My dd is going to be 9, but she is already a SPT! She calls herself a "Tweener". :lmao:

We go camping at Jellystone a lot & that's the term they use. They have a Tween dance early on Sat. night & then the Teen dance starts later in the evening.

i got the downy stuff in a trial size... It is about 4-5" tall

Probably got it at Target...(or Walmart)

I brought one big bottle to use during our Aug. cruise & it was gone before the cruise was done. For the Panama cruise I will be bringing three big bottles....I kid you not. Did I mention I hate to Iron?

I doubt that I will let the kids sit in the front even after they turn 12. When I read that a woman 5'5" is in danger of injury riding in the front seat with an airbag....that made me rethink it. I put the seat as far back as possible.

I know since I'm only 5' 2", I keep my seat as far back as I comfortably can, but I'm still afraid it won't be enough to save me from my life saving air bag!

It just kills me when i see people who drive with the faces right up to the steering wheel pretty much.

I saw on a show once that they recommend that you show have the seat back far enough so that your arms are straight while holding the wheel.

DH was driving a rental and hit a deer and the drivers airbag burnt his hands when it activated. I wouldn't want any other part of my body near it either.

DD has been my co-pilot in the front for a couple years now. (Our civic is a two door. However, in our CRV, she usually is in the back.)

Then again, Devon passed 5'5" awhile ago too....

I can understand if you had a 12yo who was under 5' and weighed less than 100lbs but for my DD...She's the size of an adult.

Wow I heard the impact can snap a short person's neck, but I never heard it burns. Great something else to worry about! :scared1:

Air bags. My Liberty has a sensor that if the passenger doesn't weigh enough it won't activate it. DD is only 4'5" right now and she is counting down...er up the 4 inches till 4'9" when they say you don't need a booster seat. She wants to sit in the front so bad. Mainly so she can mess with the radio and cd player. She won't sit in the booster seat any more, but I still make her sit in the back. SPT!

My DD is a very small & lighweight almost 13 y/o so it's gonna be a while before she can sit up front. I'm very short, but a weight sensor won't help me that's for sure!

What these stories don't mention is that he married his 20yo wife last May and she is about three months pregnant...and a widow.

I'm still sick over this. We are having a family meeting with chaplains and counselors tonight. I know it will be good to go, but I am not looking forward to it.

Its tragic. All we can do is say a prayer (or two) as words will forever fail us in this type of situation.

I have come to gain a much better understanding of what the CG does, as one of the guys I work with is a CG Reservist who I get to fill in for when he gets called to active duty. Some of the rescues made during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina by the CG (and others) just defy description. I saw one show on Discovery (or similar) of the rescues and there were so many helicopters in the air it was amazing they didn't crash. If you want to see a really cool video of some of the CG in action, check out http://www.grouchymedia.com/other_videos/feel_the_coast_guard/index.cfm

I know when we left PC last August, it was neat watching the CG boat escort us out, they waved to the kids and the kids thought that was "soooo coool!"

I wanted to say it yesterday but I was on an emotional drain. I help chair a Cancer Survivor Celebration every year. We just found out some people will not be able to join us as the big "C" won.:sad1:

I did get a call from the Dr. office today about the scheduling of the next test for DD. What is it about those guys that makes you want to just scream? Sorry to any medical professionals here. I'm sure you guys are so much more helpful. They called to tell me that they can get DD in for the next test on May 29th!!! Two whole months from now.

The lady says, " I am sure you aren't going to be happy with this" Darn right, I am not happy, I am furious!!!!
She said she would talk to the doctor and see if she can get me a better date. I was think, why didn't you do that before you even called me.

Then I asked "so if this is the date we stay with and it ends up she needs surgery when do you think it would happen, Early summer?" "oh no, she says probably the end of the summer at the earliest" Am I suppose to be okay with that? :scared1:
DD has lost a year of her sports life as it is now. How do we tell her "guess what honey? looks like another year with out basketball and track and dance?" :confused3 :confused3
Very frustrated here in Michigan. At least the sun is shining and it is warm.

There's not much I can say, but please know my heart goes out to each of you & all those involved in such sad news. :grouphug:

:goodvibes ..i can't fathom how much i ahve posted here & how
much i shared...family matters. it seem sureal, but it also self evident
that there are many sharing alot similar interests. * i feel this is an
extra spcial cruise..cos it was a major challenge just to get "on".
[ i sure hope there isn't any bumping as we still don't have a
room assigned] ...i was on "hold" x5hrs..and never got on...so if
it wasn't our dreams girl :yay: , we would never made it. also i feel
bad .. not having computer skills to help thjose doing much...&
things like a portable blender...girl... , who i planned on cozy
up tooo  per lil'miss cutoie pie's tolerance...

p.s.. i :lmao: x 10, reading what you all were postings about the quel
music..esp., for shame lisa! ;) , killing the poor lil'beast! [ i bet your
husband can "preform" the best disappearing act around, huh? :thumbsup2

what this site has done..is like a trip done memory lane. maybe boring,
but in a big way, define my current boundaries. today, we can laugh
how our "second baby" was supposed to been a " wonderful bonding
moment"......stupid, ignorant nurse...she was more interested in
getting students in...well they got an education when my wife let out
"a scream" from her very soul...they bolted out of there with :scared1:
all over their faces...i have most forgotten..thru time...how precious my
wife is...there couldn't been a more defining moment....in our family
life..the very essence of coming and doing our 99 ,extended family
cruise...but "seeing" these pics again..."how do you thank someone~
who gave so much..when the odds were at the highest? right then,
i was totally exhausted...& i was just a spectator!...........

i happened to have taken a pic. right afterwards, she looked like
 holding a  ..with his lil'hand poking down the
blanket, to "look" at the world. while my lil'miracle worker, in her
finest glory, tenderly comforting, "our" newest member, arriving
with much tribulations & all the drama of a nascar ramming/flipping
all over the finish line. * you was not here, so this is the best ..but
be advised..does not do this moment justice....as evident by all the
iv's and armbands marking her accomplishment!...for me, this showed
what a woman is all about. how precious and strong. and while i had
an "ob" history...this experiece changed me forever! then i have read
some of your own remarkable stories..some sad..some happy { isn't
craxy that the rock group styx..would reflect this very feeling in
a song.."sail way"?] pirate: :flower3: ..to all that we will be sharing
on this, a pirate: family cruise..of a lifetime!

* however, i like to point something that made me  ...what was

i didn't raised the roof !)

pack rats unite! ok..i am rationizing cos our house is overflowing! the
debate is ..who stuff must go...:rolleyes1 . but its also interesting..you
can measure our time tables of our disney adventures by all the
different graphics from my lil'moss cutie pie shopping. wow! no
wonder the disney's like seeing us!! :coffee:

Thanks for the B-day wishes!

I have a couple hours between school and work today. DW was "sick", so we went out for Chinese food for lunch, and sat around outside enjoying the nice weather for a change. Now I'm just waiting for my work clothes to dry so I can get ready to head to Tarjay for work.

We'll celebrate a little more on Saturday. We just renewed our membership to the Phila. Zoo, so we're hoping to take the kids and spend the day there, then go out for dinner.

All in all, it was an OK day. thanks again for thinking of me.

:wizard: ..just want to make sure i am not giving the wrong impression

:rolleyes1 ,while its easy to be bold here[ mostly from the positive
encouragments]..in real life, i am mostly shy, . while my
lil'miss cutie pie is the :flower3: type...so don't think we're :snooty: !
[it always fun meeting new friends]. p.s...most likely to find my
wife stalking the stores...while iam sorta like that guy in the comm.,
sleeping in the deck chairs..was watching he kiddos...:cloud9:
or on rare occasions..taking pics..even strangers if they have disney
tatoos...:cool2:

actually, i am a pretty good shopper..:thumbsup2 , like i just find
2 levi's designer jackets for $4.99...:yay:

I posted this on the main cruise board, but thought some of you might be interested. I was at Michael's last night and stumbled on color your own Disney pillow cases. They come with crayons, which I'm sure you set with an iron after it's colored. They had Capt Jack pirate: , Tinker Belle, Princesses and Winnie the Pooh and others I can't remember . I was in the Kids section to get Crayola Color Explosion kit for dd's Easter basket and they were on an end cap. Going tonight to pick one up with 40% coupon. I used my other coupon for the Crayola kit! LOL! :lmao: They were $9.99.

:thumbsup2 , to micmse...."ca. group!" , after we did our 99 family
cruise my wife's father...developed intense itching over his abd. area.
we he got tested..he had ca of the pan., they thought it was operable,
but no..open& shut case....however, his family refused to give up..
that was nearly 7 years ago...:goodvibes that what a family can do!

* we believe in st. jude! and make a wish!

Lil"Grumpy We are big believers in St. Jude. ;) He holds a special honor in our family room. My DH has lived through 2 heart attacks (first at 41:eek: ) two by-pass surgeries(a total of 9 arteries:scared: ) and I am a survivor of Cancer for 6 years now.:thumbsup2 I owe our lives to prayers, God and St.Jude.:cloud9:

I just want to say thanks for sharing your wisdom beyond your years!!! :goodvibes You have shared your philosophy of life, laughs, and made us relive our pasts a liitle. I speak for everyone of the board that we are happy you and your family will be part of our extended family.:grouphug:

Laura, Talk to your doctor and explain the stress you and DD are both being put under. I had a panic attack when I was told I had to wait three or four months for a test. Our medical system is from from perfect!!!!!! An entire summer is like an eternity to your DD. Our prayers will be with you!!!!:flower3:

Lil' Grumpy I know you mentioned this harrowing birth before & I can not even imagine how scared you must've been. I also had a very bad birth experience with my DS, but I did not suffer the way your poor wife did. Suffice it to say, I was so drugged & more intent on pushing, I was not aware of how serious the situation was at the time. It's a long story, but basically I turned blue due to lack of oxygen & DS's heart rate dropped very drastically. DH still talks about how scared he was because he thought he lost us both that day. Luckily we had a room full of specialists to handle a very dangerous situation. I am so sorry that you did not have the support you should have had that day.

Laura:

:grouphug: sorry for the frustration!!!! I can understand it, (SIL is going through something similar). Hope you hear back from them and things start to turn around for you both very soon!!!:grouphug:

Just popping in to say howdy, and to wish everyone that is going through tough times my best wishes. :goodvibes :grouphug:

Welcome back Stace, I really enjoyed looking at your pics as well!!! :thumbsup2

I've got to get our "ST" to work, then I have an appt to see my orthopedic surgeon(annual check-up). Lord knows how long I might be there, it's usually at least two hours at the minimum..........:confused3

I'll check back in later this evening, "ST" works until store closing tonight, so I know I'll be up late tonight...............

Hi everyone! We're back from Vegas! :hippie:

Todd, I would have tried to hook up but didn't realize the hotel wanted $15/day for internet access! We'll be back before the cruise most likely. And when we do go, we'll stay at the Westin or Aladdin so as to accrue my SPG points. Sorry DParents but we don't gamble enough to build up comps.

How is it that Vegas is the only town in which the goal is to NOT pay for a hotel room?!?!? :confused3 I mean how retarded is it to spend 6 hours gambling in order to get a friggin' buffet meal? :sad2:

I agree that a crate would be a good idea or gate off a doggie room of the house. Walmart has nice creat for a decent price. (We have the XL one for Abby and it's held up for almost two years now and it was only like $65.)

Imobilizing a large dog is extremely hard! Good friends of ours had a lab that was hit by a car and shattered the dog's front leg. He was in an immobilizer for about 6 weeks...the metal ring thng with the screws sticking out of it. Besides the crate, they decided to chill the dog out with some benadryl. Talk to your vet about it. Not so much that he's in a perpetual stupor of sleep, but just enough to take off the wacky edge. I'd also suggest talking to your kids about the situation too so they don't inadvertantly psych the dog up too much either. Best of luck!:grouphug:

dear joel?..so sorry for your precious dog { }...i am not sure if it is possible to totally control an active dog...big/small...but maybe if you have a portable kennel, make the enclosure smaller to limit him? * there are experts at work..i'll ask them.

Oh, i am so sorry to hear this. Poor Morgan, Poor you!!! I know that when Gracie ripped open the skin on the inside of her hip area. (you know that really thin piece that runs from the leg to the stomach, tecnical term anyone?) she had to have emergency surgery and her we are at home with this dog with a huge rip in her leg where we could see all the tendons and stuff and we had to try to get her in the car and into the vets (she apparently didn't realize she was that hurt and thought it great fun to go for a car ride) Well afterwards they said to keep her down for a few weeks to allow the cut to heal and stuff. Well if you know Weims they don't "do still." Right Esteri? So we had to put one of those nasty E-collars on her and then she was drugged up on pain and sedatives and caged for almost the whole time. It was horrible but she healed faster that way and you can't even see where she was injured which is pretty good since there is no hair in that area. So my advice is get something to help Morgan relax and use the cage. we did bring Grace out to the couch at night so she would lay with me on the couch so she had some people time too.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I did google and saw some leg braces that are out there, I thought I'd print out pics and show the Vet to get input on if they may help support the leg. My wife got a visit in with Morgan today and talked to the Vet. The Vet told her that there would be infections, and antibiotics would help, but upset my wife when he said there was still a 20% chance that an infection would cause him to amputate the leg.

FGM: Hope that they reconsider or come up with better options for your DD.:wizard:

Sk8tingmom: I know your family and DH's CG family are going through a difficult time, but I saw a car with Alaskan license plates pulling out of a Target parking lot in Columbus, Ohio. Had to smile.

Oh yeah, it's unlikely that I'll ketchup to the 200+ pages but I'll take a stab at it. And in case you're wondering, we came back ahead $40.

And just let me tell you about the FREAKS we saw running around town! The biggest one was the 60something overly tanned guy (we're talking about saddlebag with eyes leathery tanned) who wanted to come into the fancy chophouse for a drink wearing a friggin' tank top!!!! DUDE they aren't going to let you in because they hair on you back and shoulders is going to gag the patrons!

The hostess found him a shirt to wear (ewwwww ) and then we had to listen to him blather for an hour to some guy trying to watch the game about how he retired before 40, is worth $5M+ blah blah blah!
